I think your question is super interesting, because regardless if it is bullshit or not, they could hype up something more appealing than this. In my opinion it is a mix of different factors. On top of it all is the corruption and degeneration of academic art historians, who are the arbiters of what is relevant and good. They prefer to hype up ugly paintings, because there is more room to intellectualize it on why it is good regardless. It puts more power on the rationalization and the essay and makes them necessary because as a layman there is no way you can "appreciate" it.
Another reason is a lot of rich people are kind of soulless and uneducated in the arts, compared to rich people in the past. This is also tied to the first argument, because part of the reason they are uneducated is that art education became corrupt and useless over the last decades. It is also "safer" to display a soulless painting like in your picture. It doesn't reveal anything about the collector, but they still get the feeling that they are a more interesting and cultured person by displaying that stuff to their rich friends.
Third reason is lower quality of figurative and narrative art. This is mostly due to bad education and the difficulty to aquire those skills in a world that is more degree oriented than mastery. This is changing slowly though, more and more skilled painters are surfacing and art education is at least growing in the private sector and on the web.

I don't hate it. The black ones on the left I like the best, the red in the middle is not bad, red on the bottom right is shit. I can't see enough of the blue one.
They remind me of the more abstract forms of water-ink painting from east asia, as well as calligraphy in general. The flow of the ink/paint and the natural droplets create a strong burst of energy of sorts. It's not a modern thing at all to use chaotic as well as geometric patterns in art. Maybe you're just too autistic or not autistic enough to appreciate the asemic patterns. That being said, I would probably maybe use a more interesting background than pure white. The white is too overpowering.
But if this is the only thing she can do, she's a hack and should kill herself.

I don't hate the stains my shit leaves on the toilet bowl after flushing following twelve days of constipation. They remind me of the the dry brush technique of the 13th century Chinese painter Chen Rong.

>As I approached my mid-thirties, a time that according to everything I'd read was to be my sexual prime, my husband fell into a deep depression and couldn't claw himself out. My desire was ever-present, while his was nonexistent.

>All of a sudden, I was invisible. My husband didn't want me, no matter what I tried, and I realized I'd never known how much I wanted to be desired. I felt so alone, and slowly I was loosing myself.

>Then, I grabbed my camera and turned it on myself. Conceptualizing and executing each image became my escape. I needed to release my pain and loneliness and also declare to the world, and myself, that I'm still here. I still matter. But what I began to realize was that the act of creating was more powerful than anything else.

>In truth, my art saved me. I am not invisible anymore.

I don't know man, I sounded like you a few years ago. I grew more intolerant to meaningless crap and it has been liberating. There is no need to try to rationalize garbage, no need to try to find something in a pile of shit just to come off as nice and educated or take on a position that is on the fence and won't offend anyone. There is something very poisonous about lying to yourself even in very small ways. It will rot your soul from within and you will slowly grow more resentful.

Her husband must be really happy with that shit written on the internetz
