Where do I grow? Reaction to my stuff here has usually just been a thumbs up. I post on other places and have an ok following, and around 4chan people are like "oh I know you". So, that's good for my feels but it doesn't give me the critical feedback. What do I tweak or how should I compose drawings and make them better?

Scifi vietnam isn't compelling. None of your characters are doing anything interesting visually. A robot standing there and a robot standing there with a gun are the same thing. Every actual person you draw is symbol drawing and you cheat all the hard parts. You only know how to draw a doll, which is great, but you decided to put a helmet on the doll and call it a day. I don't know the plot. I don't know why dull blue and slime green (awful color choice by the way. robots are fighting in the first place. Wow. War. So deep. What the fuck am I supposed to feel when I see this? Is your target audience boomers? Are you going to go sell prints to a VA hospital? Learn gesture.Switch to water color.Stop using lines.Determine a compelling plot. Get rid of the helmets and jokes. The color choices are funny enough on their own without the purposeful nam humor.
I think scifi-vietnam is pretty compelling, you should keep up with it.I especially like this >>7436139 piece
>Where do I grow?It depends on your goals, the level you want to reach.I like your characters.
>>7436152>What the fuck am I supposed to feel when I see this? like a self-absorbed assholeanon is obviously going for a comic/cartoon cell-shaded stylecartoonists draw in line/markersswitching to watercolor/stopping lines isnt constructive
>>7436135You like guns and robots so try drawing real guns and or machineryIf they're shooting each other then can you elaborate on the robot gore?
>>7436152>Learn gesture.>Switch to water color.>Stop using lines.Holy mother of crabs
>>7436135I'm also going to say that you are obviously drawing without references. It is impossible to learn anything new without a reference. Drawing without a reference is just checking what you already know.Draw real objects.
>>7436135i think you'll benefit a lot from learning more technical drawing, just go full autism on the scott robertson books
I like this art, and I think you have a good understanding of the fundamentals. But lately I've started wondering if fundamentals even matter. Your art looks like you worked hard on it, it doesn't look magical or effortless. I enjoy it because I'm an artist and I like seeing the ideas you are putting out there, but someone who doesn't give a shit about art would think this is boring or shitty. I don't know what it takes to get to the point where your art looks impressive to normies.
>>7436135I like these a lot. They remind me of illustrations for old sci-fi/fantast TTRPG books and enthusiast magazines. I don't mean to not give you advice, but you seem like you're at the point where you need to evaluate your goals and find an appropriate path forward. Find inspiration you aspire to and figure out what you're lacking to get there. I think we can give you more pointed advice if you know where you want to go. What I'd personally change in these isn't necessarily what you need to realize your goals. One thing I think is worthwhile is to do quick thumbnail composition studies of artwork you really like that represents your aspirations. Learning how other artists make their work stand out will help you do the same.
>>7437032Appeal is all. Everything else is just cope. You can grind fundies all you like, if you can't draw appealing art, it's fucking over. The shittiest, beg-tier will do numbers if his art is nice to look at. And no, I don't know how to quantify appeal. You either have it or you don't.
>>7436839This/ thread
>>7436135I don't quite get your question. What do YOU want to improve on? Which direction do you want to take your art? More realism? More appeal? I like your art the way it is. But I understand why you'd want more.
>>7436135I like your stuff op it's a shame stuff like this isn't trendy anymore you'd make a great comic artist. I guess if you want somewhere to go with your art you could try telling a story with it
I shall call you marker autist. your shit has sovl marker autist. practice fundies and do more cool robots and guns.
in all seriousness, I think just focusing on getting good at fundamentals would be good for you. you have good composition and a good sense of aesthetics. just learn to draw people and forms in 3d space so that things dont look so wonky. unironically draw more boxes. your composition would be exponentially improved by learning how to draw things from different more interesting angles.
>>7436135>What do I tweak or how should I compose drawings and make them better?Your style reminds me of Moebius or something. weird oldschool sci fi. Just study Moebius and try to do what he did.
>>7436152>Gives abrasive yet also somewhat truthful crit>Only person in the thread actually pointing to specific things and not just giving me general up your fundies>Immediately btfoI mean come on guys, even if it's not entirely accurate it's something. OP is asking for specific advice and crits and you're all doing the exact thing they said doesn't help them. OP is asking for honest feedback. You have to ask yourself if you'd give this a second look while scrolling through Instagram. That is what OP is looking for. The why. Why is it this doesn't stand out? What could they do different.
>>7436135Your style is nice and your pen/marker control is *clean* af. Get some fundies down and you'll go far
>>7436135Make a webcomic and study tom bloom also your composition sucks
>>7441324ok ill be brutal with marker autist. His shit looks flat as a pancake and he has a limited understanding of anatomy that does not include information on how these details are supposed to look like on a 3d plane or from any other angle than straight forward. i do agree with one critique anon did and that everything is borderline symbol drawing here. any attempts at 3quarters perspective looks flat as shit and does not make sense. i also agree learning gesture would improve this, i dont think anon should stop using lines he just needs to stop thinking in lines and start thinking in shapes. watercolor critique is fake and gay, markers are fun let the fag use crayons if he wants to.how do you fix this? draw more fucking boxes.
just become the edgy version of moebius.
>>7436152The colors are awesome and the style could be worked on, sure, but there is nothing bad on symbol drawing outside being limiting to learning volume drawing OP if i were you i would start putting a plot to that and make a webcómic. Find someone to write a stupid plot for you if you are dull for that, but get the ball rolling even if it doesnt become popular. It will allow you to draw what you like, and force you to draw a lot of shit you would never do otherwiseReally the most basic plot would do
>>7436135go harder on the shading. you are being too scared
>>7436135be more ambitious when in doubt, learn more fundies, study more mastersyou don't know what you don't know
>>7436135I like the art but what is killing me are no backgrounds like try to fill up those empty spaces it will look even better.
