I'm told by people i know that practicing with wet toiletpaper and bloodscrawls is just as useful and productive as paying for half-decent paper/charcoal/whatever Is there any merit to this mindset or are they dead wrong ?
you can readily find demos online of artists drawing or painting very technical works with relatively cheap utensils. obviously it ultimately depends on your goals, but the basics can get you very far.

>>7439892Quite literally the materials you use are fundamental to making art. Luckily, anything sold in stores will be good enough. Stuff made for kids tends to be terrible, so anything other than that is fine. Decent student grade stuff is more than enough and is pretty affordable. For practicing, you should just use whatever you have instead of procrastinating by buying materials you'll never use.
