What is this perspective in anime called? How to do it?
>>7441721This is what anime does to zoomer brains. You start thinking everything is about anime. Go outside and touch some fucking grass. Unironically. This is perspective with 4 vanishing points. Google curvilinear perspective and/or fish-eye.
>>7441729>Go outsideI will through the anime when it comes out in April. It's about traveling and photography.
>>7441735>incapable of comprehending metaphorsYou're confirmed to be a zoomer, yeah.By touch grass I was implying that OP should stop basing their entire existence on anime.Touch grass in this context = check other sources instead of living exclusively in your anime bubble.
>>7441721Fish eye perspective/distortion.
>>7441750le touch grassss oh f off
>>7441729Woah calm your tits down anon he's just asking
>>7441721
>>7441750>stop basing their entire existence on anime.
>>7441797So I posted this, but I just learned I set up grid wrong. Apparently CSP does 6 point perspective by default when you use fish eye and you have to manually set up a 5 point grid via rulers. https://youtu.be/Hu68wkxq-gYI just watched this video on 6 point perspective and blew my mind. 6 point perspective is literally a 360 view drawn into a flat plane. So fucking sick haha.
>>7441729>This is perspective with 4 vanishing pointsYou forgot to mention that there's a "dutch angle" in OP's picrel, it's a really common cinematic technique in anime.
>>7441848It's dutch angle 5 point
>>7441775I just don't like very very stupid people.
>>7441721Im confused about perspectivedoes 5 point perspective simply mean 5 vanishing points? Why do I associate it with curvy lines and the fish-eye lens? If you throw 5 dice on a flat table (and none of them land at identically parallel ), you end up with 2 vanishing points per dice, plus a single vertical vanishing point which indicates your viewing height. Isn't that 11 point point perspective? How come that doesn't look as fruity or spherical as 5 point perspective drawings? Which terms am I getting muddled up here?
>>7441729The weeb vs counter-weeb mutual trolling on this board is very funny if kinda pointless
>>7441919It literally means 5 vanishing points, yes. We live in a 3D world, so at any given time, we see along the X, Y, and Z axes. Adding a 4th point gives us a vanishing point below eye level, creating a cylindrical distortion. Adding a 5th point creates a curved horizon line because we are now describing a 180-degree field of view, similar to a fisheye lens. A 6-point perspective extends this further, giving a full 360-degree view, capturing the entire world around your eyes.
>>7441919To further clarify, 4-, 5-, and 6-point perspectives are technical representations of the world adapted to how humans, with a narrow cone of vision, perceive it. Prey animals, with a wider field of view, see the world more like 5-point perspective, while flies, with near-360-degree vision, experience something closer to 6-point perspective. If this is extremely confusing, you should understand work up to 3 point perspective first, then 4 and then 5 and 6 become easier to understand.
>>7441729>4 vanishing points
>>7441937So if you master 6 point perspective you can throw that into a VR headset?
>>7441941I think you would need a program to unwrap it. Though it's just a matter of throwing it into a program. A person in the comments of this video >>7441817 threw the guy's drawing into a skybox and they said it was like walking in the drawing.
>>7441729
>>74419446 point perspective big tiddy anime hentai is the new meta
>>7441929It's amazing, isn't it? 5 point anime illustration looks so fun. Like you're with the characters exploring the world.
>>7441750please be quiet election tourist
>>7441961Yeah 5 point perspective is really neat. I think the fact it's frequently seen in anime is a testament to the skill of the artists and animation directors. Matter of fact I wish it was more common in western animation.
>>7441919The X in X-point perspective means how many vanishing points you get from all the perpendicular lines from a point. And this is different for every single point in the scene, and every single rotation of that point. In reality, ALL rectilinear (straight lines are straight) perspective is 3-point, it's just that some of the axes are parallel to the camera and therefore don't converge to points. Same with 4-5-point, but for curvilinear perspective. 6-point is just two 5-point drawings, it's not really a thing.
>>7441937>>7441929>>7441995I think im starting to understand.Correct me if im mistaken: The # of vanishing points and the X in X-point are related but slightly different conceptsThe x point/s is the axis from which any number of vanishing points may converge towardsBut the # of x point/s also defines the minimum number of vanishing points when representing a single cube (or for example: a single dice)in theory you could draw 15 dice scattered on a table in only 2 point perspective, while having 30 different vanishing points. But you couldnt draw a single dice using 5 point perspective, without using at least 5 vanishing points?
>>7442037Yes, that's more or less correct.
>>7441961personally i think it's one of the most chad things you can do in art, i get a hardon every time i see well done fisheye, even more crazy when its sakuga
>>7441873Niggers and Arabs are quick to anger too!
>>7442072Sakuga is insane. I'd love to see the workflow. I'd imagine they use guides and some even use models, but there have to be some animators that just raw dog that bitch. It's why I love Kameda, so dynamic and expressive.
>draw normally>use a filter when you're done
>>7441729This
>>7441721>He thinks Japanese invented camera lensingIt's official, make threads like this a bannable offense on sight.
>>7441721>anime perspective
>>7441980It's NOT because of lack of skill in the west you shithead, it's just not profitable for the rich CEOs pockets. Anytime any artist works for shitty companies all of this get mandated out of the pipeline.
>>7441729This aesthetic is historically connected to anime. Aside from anime and 2000s fashion/skate photography, where else has this visual device ever been popular? Go inside and get fucking cultured. Unironically.
>>7442248Who said it was lack of skill? That sounds like your own preconceived notion moron
>>7441848NIGGA WHAT THE FUCK
>>7441735What kind of magazine is this? How did you find out about it?
>>7441980>is a testament to the skill of the artists and animation directors> I wish it was more common in western animation.Either you had two trains of thought when saying this, or you implied the lack of it in the west correlates to a lack of skilled artists. And it cannot be a numbers argument since the US has 100x more humans in it than in Japan.
>>7442294Even in the context of that sentence the second part is open to interpretation. It could just as easily mean they wish Western animators had more opportunities to showcase their skill. It really comes down to your biased on this topic.
>>7441721Everybody knows that japan invented perspective.>>7441848Yes japan invented dutch angles>>7442248Dont be stupid. Japan invented drawing skills.>>7442270According to: https://www.cined.com/narrative-powers-of-a-fisheye-lens-with-film-examples/Fish eyes lenses were *mass* produced for film in the 60's meaning that there was a lot of demand for lenses capable of this "aesthetic". Several examples in the link
>>7442301>. It could just as easily mean they wish Western animators had more opportunities to showcase their skill. It would then be better to state that so the negative connection doesn't get connected. This board has a weebcuck problem if you haven't noticed, so assuming the worse form a post being pro japanese lends to that notion being assumed.
>>7442270JAVs
>>7442315 that link has what, 5 examples? only one of which is from the 60s.I'm not denying the existence of fish eye photography. But anime translated this into drawing/animation and pushed it to a stylistic extreme in ways the camera cannot.
>>7442386>that link has what, 5 examples?so far there have been only 3 anime examples. So its even. And every scene when theres a character looking through a peephole uses this perspective>But anime translated this into drawing/animation They simply mimicked a camera technique that already existed, and, there were perspective techniques already that explained how to create such effects. The credit for translating the "fisheye" to drawing belongs to the perspective innovators. Everyone else borrows from them>and pushed it to a stylistic extreme in ways the camera cannot.Thats just forced perspetive, where you take perspective to the extreme. Again, theres a big difference between something being used often in certain media vs something being historically attachedIf anything this kind of perspective is attached historically to scenes where one character looks through a peephole. Everyone can think of a scene such as that.
>>7442417>so far there have been only 3 anime examplesheres 200 examples: https://www.zerochan.net/Fisheye+Effect?s=id> theres a big difference between something being used often in certain media vs something being historically attachedIts been used often enough over the past 30 years of anime to become canon. Its a recognizable style. No one look at OPs image and thinks>mmm that looks like a 60s film
>>7442452nvm I realized that link I included is ai stuff. it all looks quintessentially anime regardlessinstead, click the 'random' button on this website a couple times and you'll find examples https://www.sakugabooru.com/post/popular_recentyou'll notice how commonly incorporated the effect is

>>7442277It's not a magazine, just promotional art for the upcoming anime 'mono'. Found it from the character designer's twitter.
>>7442355>This board has a weebcuck problemThis board has a reddit tourist problem.
>>7442501I see, thanks. I'd post fisheye anime photos for the thread but some bug's eating my posts rn.
I already break my head trying to do 3 point boxes fuck doing 5 points at an angle.
