>be me>have 12k followers>try to get comms for $60>nobody gives a shit>stop taking comms out of shame>months pass>try again, busting the price down to $20 this time>nobody gives a shit AGAINjust how over is it?
I feel like doing commissions is useless unless you're a very dedicated and talented fetish artist because frankly the various AI out there can just as easily shit out whatever anime character 99% of potential vanilla commissioners are going to want. Maybe you should start at 2$, who knows.
>>7441956>AILow IQ retard detected. Post discarded.
>>7441950Oh silly OP you fucking dumbass. Treat your followers like retarded cattle. Just lie and actively post "commissions" that people are "buying" from you. It's really that fucking simple. People will go, hurr durr, all of a sudden I see value in your art take my money. There's at least one frequent poster on this board who gets that you have to be a manipulative jew to stand out among your retarded art brethren.
>>7441959It's a simple fact that most people with "comms open" aren't doing anything a string of text into Luma won't do for free, faster, and better. Cope and die over it ig.
>>7441950>have 12k followerspost account u won't
>>7441950I’ll commission anyone for $20, drop your discord
>>7441950>Why can't I get comms? Why are people using AI? the "art" worth 20$
>>7441950>be stupid frog poster with 12k bot followers, probably never engages with anyone in the community which is the other 50% >put a sign in front of my cake shop with pricing >"he he, people are gonna line up for my cakes!" >nobody shows up >why no buyers??? :((( >meanwhile, someone like Khyle will get slots taken in 5 minsPeople pay for experiences. The human element.
>>7441965delusional retard
>>7441976Pyw let's see why people are choosing chat giving gpt over your 20 dollar shit scribbles
>>7441950People pay for perceived value and that can be manufactured. Fact is you haven't made yourself valuable in the eyes of your followers. Pick your poison. You gonna farm parasocials, simps, zealots, romance retards or faggots?
>>7441950>12k followersOn paper that sounds like a marginally decent following, but really stop and think about how insignificant that isThink about how many of those people have became inactive accounts - think about how many of those people are dumb children with no money - think about how many of those people are dumb 3rd worlders with no money - think about how many of those people are literal bots - think about how many of those people are functionally bots, just following thousands to tens of thousands of people for algorithm soup and never actually checking any specific pages of people they follow - shit dude, there's probably more fake demographics I'm forgotten to addWrap that all up in timeframe; if someone made 12k followers in half a year then they're doing something right, but if someone made 12k followers just fucking around over 5+ years they're basically worthless
>>7441950>just how over is it?I think it's hilarious how you guys struggle to get commissions when terrible artists like picrel are drowning in them in 2025.
>>7441999This is why engagement ratios are more important than followers. It doesn't matter if you have 12k followers, if only 1% of them are liking your tweets, you effectively only have 120 followers. No one who's not liking your tweets is going to bother to commission you.
>>7441950should've tried again but raising the price, if you suddenly lower the prices massively people will see it as a red flag and assume you are struggling with client retention due to being bad at delivering the expected product
>>7442009You guys don't need to get better at art just grind business, marketing, porn and memes.
>90k followers and 300 paid members on Patreon>get at least one or two email a week asking about commissions despite the COMMS CLOSED in my bioheh
>>7441950>be 2021>have roughly 500 followers>attempt chibi commissions for 25$>tell my friends and peers>get one commission, then a couple more>ffw five years and an associate degree>97 commissions on current record spanning 3900$>have 2.6k followersI don't know, OP, that sounds like a skill issue to me...
OP's situation happened in his head btwIt didn't really happen and you shouldn't take anything posted in here seriouslysage
>>7441950make a comic or nft idk make something worth buying. fucking drawfags thinking people wanna pay for their shit drawings is hilarious. provide some kind of value because art is like porn and its infinitely accessible and free, what am i paying for exactly? am i just here to subsidize your life? I only subscribe to one patreon of a coom artist cause he posts all his WIP images as well as recordings of his process and also livestreams. so from him i can at least learn something for my 5 bucks.
>>7442036he just left out the part where he bought the followers is all
I think it's funny seeing under 1k artists constantly try to farm their followers either by pimping out their kofi, sob story gofundmes or bare minimum effort commission pages. shameless fucks
>>7442057Name one.
wow surely op is telling the truth and would reply to anyone saying they'll buy his fucking commissions
>>7442050>provide some kind of valueThis. >Business 101 >Add value to your customer lifeThis shit isn't charity, you need to treat commercial art as a product, service not as fine art like most hobbyists do.Art is a luxury not a necessity and most artists have no idea about business, no wonder "starving artist" is such a cliche.
>>7441950It's actually possible to have high followers and low skill. Say if you draw madoka fan art slop you will ge easy followers because the fandom is big. It doesn't mean you are good enough to do comissions.
>>7441950>Learn to draw>Draw FOTM shit For example you'd be a fool if you are cranking out marvelslop and using marvel rival tags rn, or POE2>Chat with community as people follow>Get commissionsEvery single person I've talked to 1 on 1 who struggles with traction does zero work, they just post their shit to low interaction accounts and complain about the money not rolling in
Even my friend with 500k followers struggles with getting enough commissions. Anyone that says AI hasn't taken a huge shit on the commission market wanst around during 2005-2015. Those were the golden years where artist like me could charge $500 a commission and get 3-4 a month. Now I see the exact same artists with the exact same number of followers, cutting commission rates by 75%. Now its a max of $250 for a full body by a popular artists and only like $120 for a good artist with a smaller following.I don't even bother with private commissions anymore. They always paid shit, even at $500 but they were normally fun and something different to do. Commercial prices have gone up though, my current contract is $50/h.
>>7441950are you latino op? also, can you post art? i wanna know something
>>7442249>Even my friend with 500k followerspost em so I can commission em
>>7441950You need true fans. You're better off with 100 followers that love your art obsessively than 12k that don't give a shit about it.
>>7442249>Commercial prices have gone up thoughWhy?
>>7441950I know someone with less than 500 followers who gets commissions, charging over $60 for the top tierare you on vgen?
>>7442249Isn't it just that they have more revenue streams and can just afford to trade commission earnings for exposure since instead of doing jack shit like it used to it actually converts to patreon earnings and more sales of your prints, acrylic keychains, plushies and whatever ?Kinda like the way streamers would shave their head or deepthroat a dildo for $10 but companies started handing out thousands every month for product placement and they stopped being retarded overnight.
>>7442084how about you pay me and I won't kill you? Is that adding value to your life?
>get a commission for someone's oc>the owner loves the drawing and even tips me >can't post it publically because their oc is so horrifically ugly
>>7442380I'm on pixiv, I think that has a lot to do with it.
