>>7760181>>7760239>>7760242>>7760245>>7760255This pretty much covers every archetype of poster in mmg. Which one are you?
I'm not even sure if i managed to convey what's going on in this scene, it got too complicated for me
>>7760390I think what i needed was a few more panels, but i rushed it
>>7760390>>7760395I think thats really readable, awesome job dude. Maybe some panels woulda been better, but not being able to compare to what you thought was better, I got no critiques
>>7760185It was the Antarctic Press one, and I replaced the submissions link with the one an anon provided.
>>7760441Oh well done
>>7760395>>7760390cool stuff!
>>7760395only thing I think would be to make him dangling more noticeable, but I dont know how.
>>7760837those text squares need to breathe
>>7760942I presume you mean the one above. They looked fine on the high res version but as I downsized it to post here and fit webtoons resolution limit, it kept the art the same but fucked the text boxes...not quite sure why but I didn't notice till after posting.
>>7760952>I didn't notice till after posting. The folly of man
I used to post here a lot before I started acting embarrassing. hope y'all are still cooking.>>7760395reminds me alot of old tmnt or scud. love the texture on the greys. cool stuff.
>>7761474Hey welcome back dude
>>7761474Sup anon, welcome back, take a seat by the fire.
>>7761474Cool stuff man, I remember you from /hyw/ days long ago, you've really improved. Anything you'd like to share about your journey so far?
>>7761737for a while I wasnt working on my manga cause I had to do commissions but I'm now trying to make this a priority. my pages are starting to come out faster than before and I don't get stunlocked by a drawing I'm not getting right as often. I feel like its getting better now that it has real attention but I'm really trying to push it to the next level soon. It still takes alot of redrafts to get action that feels right or close to meaningful and my effects are still really lacking. I tried posting in /hyw/ again but currently my stuff is being replied to over and over by some tripfag idiot making some really blanket statements on the whole thing.
>>7761970Wow /hyw/ looks like an alternative universe version of /mmg/. Theres a lot of arguing there but I did see something interesting: feedback from nodraws. Personally, I think nodraws and normal people have some of the most valuable feedback possible. At the end of the day you want normal people to like what you draw, right? If not, then that's fine too but you gotta be honest with yourself.
>>7761992>feedback from nodraws. Personally, I think nodraws and normal people have some of the most valuable feedback possible.>At the end of the day you want normal people to like what you draw, right?see, this trip is desperately trying to convince me that this is true while using "giving feedback" as an excuse to look busy and active in the "community."If I wanted feedback from nodraws I can get that elsewhere. I don't need it from a dude who posts 4 massive posts in a row for attention. that's not "normal" Telling me to de-program and ditch the porn shit out of my comic is telling me to ditch half the premise all these years later. I don't need crit from dudes who don't see the point of the work at all. Especially if they have no knowledge on how to draw.
>>7761999Ah so youre also getting caught by the neopuritan crusadersBe warned, we have a new schizo here also crusading against hotness
>>7761999is dood and coldfusion still active there?
>>7762072doesnt seem like it. I imagine dood is still active out there somewhere. fuck I forgot about them. just remembered when coldfusion "fixed" my art by redrawing my girls with camel toes.>>7762051last time I was here a "person" called me a woke race tratior for having a mixed race couple in my story. a fact which that person made up after seeing one drawing of a black man and white girl (actually asian, but he's got a narrative to push here.) together in my concept art.I hope I can be forgiven for being dismissive of certain critiques these days.
>>7762087I kinda liked CF, he's like an autistic bible weeb. It's always sad to see other amateur creatives disappear, even if I wasn't fond of their work. I wonder how he's doing out there.
>>7762090I still think that (at the time) coldfusion could cook when he was locked in.
>>7761970The problem with /hyw/ is that it's like a bizarro world over there as >>7761992 said. Its filled with random nodraws coming in or anons who only care about whatever story they want to tell and that's it. Now you might say, well, didn't that work for ONE? And I would say sure, but ONE's story was enjoyable enough that everyone read it despite the pre-/beg/ artwork. So many /hyw/ comics (not all, but the clear majority) seem like there was absolutely zero planning on the story, pacing, paneling, speech bubble placement, etc. Just straight stream of consciousness everything else be damned. Over the last year or two, I've also noticed that there is a clear trend where anons who post comics with nicer artwork are for the most part blatantly ignored regardless of genre, art style, etc. It's very odd.
>>7762100>read right to left my weeabroskek, love this lil weirdo
>>7762087It's ok to be dismissive of someone being mad about interracial couples.
>>7762135Is this one new, omeow?
>>7762072>>7762087Dewd is still active. I actually out of the blue came across his channel on YT about a year ago, where he makes animations.
>>7762087Handling critique is a lot like learning who to let into your home and who to leave on your doorstep. It's prudent to listen to what people have to say so do that, but in the same way you shouldn't let every guy off the street into your home don't also take what strangers say with utmost importance if they are not communicating their intentions. You don't know where they come from or why they are saying what they are saying. Not all critiques have value. Some will have no value to you and some only hurt you and not give anything back. I heard a saying a while ago that goes something like "Keep your ears open to everyone, keep your heart closed" Your home is your heart. Those people you want to come visit you every day are the homies who know you and understand what you're trying to accomplish. The misunderstanding that you should accept every critique from anyone is as misguided as a person assuming that being stingy with their money about everything is the same as being financially literate. Just spend it on things you know will give you some value in return.
>>7762146I just finished it earlier today. I used gpen to ink a bunch of Dana's as practice for new cosmic crush pages I penciled. I have about 5 more Danas left to color. I'm making one of those character sheets from Twitter of waifus in different poses.
>>7761999my partner got me a legendary loot drop at the street library btw.
>>7762175I swear every pic she gets "bigger" and I'm ok with it.
>>7762184The canon reason is she drinks and experiments with different witches brews that temporarily make her tits bigger.
>>7762274Sounds like a fun time.
New chapter is out today! Annoyingly, I fixed a typo, but put the wrong file on all sites... oh well. It's kinda a pain that there's no place I can upload once and it updates all sites I post on.
>>7762414What's this about? I like how clean it is.>>7762281She's fun to draw.>>7762087It's best to just ignore troll posts rather than try to engage with it. Sometimes they give legit art critiques or advice but most of the time they're just trying to tilt you and get you to waste your time e-debating with them. Don't let the crabs drag you down.
>>7762420Back while I was working on this chapter, someone pointed out to me that "noone" isn't an a word. I fixed it, but I uploaded the wrong page version
>>7762414I like whole chapter updates
>>7762414Post it and I shall read Oswald anon. Love your Overmen teddy bears.
Should your manga be capable of looking good even without relying on screentones?
>>7761999>Telling me to de-program and ditch the pornBased>>7762051not the hecking pornerinos noooo
>>7762492I think so, yes. It should enhance the artwork, not be a crutch.
>>7762492Yes....? What kind of question is that?
>>7762511Yeah I guess it's an obvious thing. I was just wondering...
I wonder what everyone's characters would smell like.
>>7762528Ever smelled a cat? Kinda like that.
>>7762108>anons who post comics with nicer artwork are for the most part blatantly ignoredMostly because they're a 7 or 8 posting in a thread of 3s and 4s. You don't see ugly girls rizzing up the stacies in the cafeteria.
>>7762550This kinda happens here too, to be fair. I have seen many pages posted over the years that were a clear league above the usuals get completely ignored.
>>7762528I don't know what the shower situation is in some of the settings posted here. You might want to hold off on sniffing everyone.
>>7762617I think there is a threshold of actually being a frequent poster too. Regulars tend to get plenty of engagement, but you can probably count the number of regulars on both hands. Even if you have amazing art, if you just do a drive-by posting, and then you don't really post again or even interact once people do respond, any presumed engagement sort of just falls off.
>>7762161Another thing that helps in dealing with critiques is not spending multiple threads and crossposting over some random faggot's opinion which shouldn't have been given any attention to begin with.
>>7762621Places that clearly have showers and are readily available:>any of pornanon's comics other than his early cowboy one>galknights>monday's forecast>space furry anon>cosmic crush>that one brazil anon>jack moneyModern day technology but a LOT of doubt whether people actually regularly bathe in any capacity (not meant as an insult, just calling it as I see it)>headless mindless>moon is a liver>oswald the overman>oi comic (depending on the character)Likely try to bathe regularly but there are limitations due to their time period/setting, no showers>altarusia>scandinavia-anon's comic>aecast (likely in the first category based on fancy tech shown cos why would they not extend that to showers but too vague to know at this point)>oi comic (depending on the character)>viking(?) anon>that other village anon (with all the hatchwork and the trees and the bugs and shit)>that one australian anon who originally had modern day paris stuff but then it got moved to the middle ages>witch sisters comic
>>7762676This, if you are a good artist you're probably a target for a lot of people so being emotional and taking baits is only gonna make them continue trolling you.
>>7762491It's 20 pages, it'd clutter up mmg. But thanks! >>7762492 that's kinda a weird question. I think manga that do pure bnw can look amazing, like deathco. But also there's some manga that draw with value/tone, and would have almost blank pages if there were no tones.

>>7762962
>>7762968
>>7762809That's nice but I really sincerely do not think any of Araki's books will really be any help at all. The dude's work is successful because of how unique it is, not because it follows some golden path even if he claims otherwise.

>>7762809>how to make villain>araki>hokuto no ken vampire>aztec bodybuilder not even the fans care about>hokuto no ken vampire now with time stops>david bowie explodes dudes with his pink cat>godfather not even the fans care about>gay nigger priest>not-trumpRemember kids, don't ever listen to "how to satisfy woman in bed course" made by a virgin.
>>7763039shutup idiot, meanwhile your dumbass can't even get a single dollar off patreon with a comic that has fewer fans than araki does on his ceiling.
>>7763045Low critical thinking skills. You think that just because someone is successful that means everything they do is right. Araki is a great artist but the combination of him being from a different time period, having different strengths and weaknesses that can be examined over 30 years of art, and this book trying to talk about modern sensibilities means theres a lot to criticize about the concept of the book "how to write villains".
>>7763050>modern sensibilitiesLol shut up faggot
>>7763050How's all your "critical thinking skills" doing for your comic? Any patreon subs yet? When's the anime coming out? Never? Yeah that's right
>>7763053You dont know what I mean by that, I'm just saying things are different now than in the 80s for manga. You can say a lot of bad things about how each araki villain is written. But if you were to only look at the modern day ones, you got tooru who is probably top ten worse villains. Yeah his power is cool, every jojo villains is.
>>7763039I dunno lets rank his villainsDIO: One of the most iconic anime villains ever, I dont think hes very interesting but hes super beloved, although he doesn have alot of screentime funnily. give that an 8/10 just for how iconic he is.Kars and the pillar men: Yeah theyre pretty good for what they are, better than most generic anime baddies 6.5/10.Kira: Super interesting serial killer, with a interesting plot about falling in love with Hayatos mother. 9/10Diavolo and Doppio: Underrated pair, solid and present antagonist. 7/10Pucci: One of the most involved antagonists that grows throughout the part along with Jolyne. 9/10Funny Valentine: 10/10Tooru: rando who comes into the part, kills all of the interesting and morally grey characters, and turns the ending of a super interesting plot into a generic kill the bad guy plot -100/10Acca: Very interesting villain so far, whos super likeable, excited to see what happens, although it could be a Jobin scenario with him. 8/10Averaging it out, that comes to a -5/10, guess you were right, Arakis a fucking hack writer, and you should never listen to him
Ok wise guys, how would YOU make a villain?
>>7763059I still think Pucci was right. Can anyone argue that the world Pucci creates is bad? Getting a feeling that you'll die in the next year will give you the chance to live your life better. Being able to sense your future doom coming is a positive. Were Jolyne the bad guys?
>>7763059Jojo minor villains: This man raped 500 lolis and when he went to prison, he gained a stand that allowed him to teleport lolis to him so he can rape them
>>7762988A fellow Clive Barker enjoyer
>>7763065The main character but evil.
>>7763039>"how to satisfy woman in bed course" made by a virgin. But Araki has made villains. You listed some of them.
>>7763065Depends on what you are going for. In the real world, the worst people in our society cant conceive of good and evil, or dont care, they just do what they want, kill and rape whoever. This probably isnt as interesting for a big baddie though.Ive heard alot of people say, the key is having a consitent ideology yourself, so that you can show and understand why the villain is wrong or right in their actions. Personally the villains Ive written arent evil for the sake of it, but instead treat it like a job, or hate being evil, believing that theyve gotta do this, for the greater good. With one of my villains probably being right in his evil, and the other is unknowingly being lied to about the true purpose of his work.
>>7763065My newest is a curse. Passed down from generations. But my old ones, before I changed comics? Based on history. The Yankees slaughtering Southern farmers, and the Yakuza when they first got their hands on firearms.

>>7763067I'll be honest, i am bamboozled by how accurate this description is to Part 4's first villain.Of course it's not 100% accurate but still accurate enough to make me think.
>>7763065>Morally gray character that turns evil, his intentions are never obvious and you're always wondering what he's up to and how will this affect the protagonist every step of the way>That guy from Whiplash who mentally abuses everyone around him, somehow people still want his respect even though he shows no concern or acknowledgment of you>Lalo Salamanca, but mostly his demeanorI guess I like a character that make you feel tense and you never know when they'll do something ruthless. I also like the pathetic or seemingly harmless character that can exist among the protagonists without them noticing what he's up to, not even you do.I have a few others but I can't quite picture them, or they don't fit the description as they aren't exactly characters.
>>7763364I saw this guy on namicomi
>>7763065I take a good trait and take it too far. Do they care about family? What if they care about their family above others? What will they do to ensure the continuation of it? It's one part selfish ambition crossed with the lack of care about the hurt and destruction in the pursuit of it, it takes someone up from just being an antagonist into real villain territory.
any good AI programs to create comics with?
>>7763579The one where you simulate it in your brain and then draw it with your stylus or pencil.

I cannot seem to focus on any one project for more than a day or two, so I've been steadily writing 3 different stories with about equal progress on each. I've decided the first one to actually start drawing, but I have to make sure I funnel random ideas into these other scripts before they start worming their way into the first one and drive it off the rails.
with or without gray?
>>7764299Depends. Is this supposed to be horror? And if not is it supposed to take place at night?
>>7764299In this case I think with the gray but I can't see the rest of the page/composition.
>>7764305It has horror elements and yes it is at night
>>7764299A lot of your other pages are heavy on shading, so continuing it makes sense to me unless you're purposely doing an absence to make a point.
>>7764299I definitely think grey, helps make the characters stand out too, thanks to the highlight you gave their silhouettes. What screen tone is that btw? I've been trying to find a similar screen tone to that to replicate this back ground

Do you guys read manga on smartphone?I'm in dilemma if I should make my font big enough for better readability. The dilemma is by increasing font size, I have to increase the speech bubble size too which makes me either have to increase the panel size which snowballs to page amount increasing, or maybe I have to sacrifice some rooms to showcase my artwork.I'm making a hentai doujin, by the way.
>>7764408they definitely don't look like they were done in trad, lol.
>>7764451Brother cant you just compare your work to like officially uploaded manga/doujins and compare? Font size can vary widely depending scene by scene, so are you looking for like a bare minimum font size? If you want that it should be no smaller then 12(unless you are doing some very specific gag). Like thats just a standard for published works period, and when Ive printed my comics it reads fine on paper as it does on screen. As far as to avoid your dilemma in the future you should plan ahead of time the space required in your panels for world bubbles. However, you shouldnt be afraid to cover some of your art with the panel or(in the case of the hentai doujin especially) trim your sentences. Keep it short and sweet. Also consider that if you have enough white space in the panel, you CAN get away with just doing like a wall of text and have a line pointing towards the character speaking(although I'd avoid it if two people are talking in the same panel) panels are convenient and clean but not always necessary.

I focused too much on telling a story and not enough on hot drawings of hot girls doing fun and sexy shit on the beach. What would I even make a Dana ecchi doujin about? What's the minimum amount of pages it'd have to be for people to be happy?
>>7764557I kept saying panels when I meant to say bubbles. Sorry about that
>>7764614i remember it, i dont really remember much sexy content (if you got a link again i'd love to revist). im picturing like a like max 8 page lil zine, that would be like sealed in your existing comic, maybe make the story like porn plot levels of stupid, then you wont get bogged down with the narrative, as far as content it could be as simple as the other female characters trying to get dana to wear their respective (revealing) clothes and her being feral and prefering her bodypaint.
>>7764614If it's a one shot doujin about 20-30, leaning more towards the lower 20. Depending on how you set up your drawing/ panels reading 30 pages can take about 25 minutes even if it is short on text cause your still taking in the art in that time. The good one shots I read usually are that long.
>>7764625>>7764627https://namicomi.com/en/chapter/wCVTZ8N6Here's the beach episode, it was my unsuccessful attempt at a fanservice doujin / OVA episode. If I attempted one again I'd have to go hard in the paint and do it right.
>>7764614She's like a witch or whatever, right? Have her do some sexy naked/sensual dance/summon in the middle of the forest, and add some other elements of your choosing.
>>7764632She could summon a succubus or something I suppose and related antics could ensue.
like this old DA commission I did but drawn better and slightly less stupid.
>>7764557To be fair, some comics can be quite unreadable.Pic related.I'm reading this on 24 inch monitor and I still have to zoom in a a bit.I presume the creator didn't thought of people reading this book on tablet/smartphone when they made this.
>>7764451I read on smartphone but I zoom in on stuff if I can't read it
>>776461410 pages is good enough for a short doujin I think, long enough for a snippet of a story and short enough not to burn oneself out drawing it
>>7764642Looks fine, it's like people forget that even when they read manga volumes irl they still sometimes move the book closer to their face for some parts and assume everything has to be readable at a glance
Where can I find japs streaming their manga work preferably digital?
Why are all the younger (born from the mid 2000s onward) wannabe mangakas emulating Fujimoto and Gege styles so much? It's a recurring think I see with artists under or barely around 20, it's like they only study the work of those two artists and a few more popular currently running mangas like Kagurabachi instead of something more complex like Blade Of The Immortal or Berserk. To be fair though, millennial westoid "anime" artists also had the same exact fixation but for Trigger/Gainax artists instead, so it might just be a generational thing
>>7764693Kagurabachi is relatively new, isn't it? Probably hasn't had time to really get super deep. At least CSM (Pt1) has "finished" and so has Demon Slayer. And those are just this generation's easily accessible series. You could ask why 15-20 years ago wannabes were emulating Bleach and Naruto, or why 25 years ago people were emulating DBZ.Its just the easiest, most accessible, probably core series that they focused on and were inspired by.
>>7763138getting no replies on this, when i previously posted my comics on here i got some people to comment
>>7764412>>7764562>>7764585nice!>>7764713I like the idea, and the art style is almost there, but it looks too goofy for the story so I couldn't get into it.
>>7764642Woah, i can't read this but it looks so cool. What is it?
>>7764713Tired of anything to do with jews, nazis, dubyadubyatwo, or anything adjacent. Get new material.

>>7759990>>7759989>>7759987>>7759985the current challenges/competition section of these threads has been dropped?I really want to start a project now and would be thankful for pointers which manga competitions are currently up
>>7764693The generation before fujimoto and gege was just emulating horikoshi
>>7764693As the kind of artist you're describing, I gravitated toward emulating Geges linework because I realized he was doing far more with his messy pen sketches then I was with slow intentional inking. leaning into a messier product works when you're making an energetic action series. and it helps cure perfectionism, its easier to get pages done and accept flaws with that kind of style.>>7764976This. Horikoshi was the first style I emulated but I've let a lot of the habits from that time go in favor of new ones. I liked learning from his tropes but emulating them didn't fit the kind of artist I was. I guess I should have read hxh earlier since that also has a very messy style like geges.
>>7764713>real world political comicNope, not reading. It's hard enough to not be inundated with this stuff 24/7, I have zero interest in reading this in addition. Come up with an original story.
>>7764713Ill say your artwork has improved.
>>7764713I read it. Despite everyone calling it a political comic, it seems to just be an adaptation of a movie. People just have a kneejerk reaction to the politically charged imagery on the cover and the red armband on every page. Regarding the font I don't like it for general comic use but it works here and gives the comic that old 20th century feel along with the analog ink wash
how many years have you been drawing comics, and what are your goals for 2026?
>>77651035-ish years drawing comics now. >Goals for 2026Draw more comics. I have a completed story in my head and I will continue to get more of it down onto a canvas.
>>776510312 years. I don't have any plans other than to keep drawing and trying to get better. And trying not to die I guess. The story is moving into the main arc so I have a lot to figure out likely late spring to early summer of next year, I feel unprepared because it's all happening so fast. It's scary.
>>7765175Nice, good luck !>>7765201You can do it. We're all in this together.
