Is using gradiant maps at the end of a piece cheating? I tried it and I noticed that it smoothed out some leftover brushstroke textures that I really hated, but I can't help but feel that I did something wrong.Then again, I also stick to one layer and fear things like multiply will handicap my progress, so I'm either on the right path or paranoid.

I was going to use one piece for a manga to copy daily because I like it but looking at it now a lot of things are very off. Proportions and perspective are often blatantly wrong and there's a lot of morphing things for the sake of doing xyz pose. Anyone have any ideas for a manga it'd be good to copy? Can someone familiar with Hampton's gesture drawings help me out?He draws the three spine sections and then the "stretch" which seems to more or less cover the front of the torso, but I can't seem to make it work with anything facing the subject straight on. I skimmed his book and some videos, but I can't find a single gesture drawing that isn't from the side to some extent.I guess I could skip the stretch line but without drawing the contours it seems to be missing something.
