I finished this a few days ago.

I'm really trying hard to figure out body construction. None of the drawings I've made have used body construction and I really want to use it to make my bodies better.

I'm really trying to figure out which method would be best. I've thought about either using mannequin-esque stick figures, or silhouettes. Anyone have any suggestions?

do you guys ever get upset at yourselves for not doing enough/letting time slip by you? i.e. i got home today at 5:30 after work and ended up dicking around not really doing anything art related until like 10, and im upset at myself when i think about all those potential hours i lost while doing basically nothing
this isnt really a "how do i make it a habit" question because thats not the issue, i do draw every day, i just need help with figuring out how to not dick away a ton of potential art time by fucking around

I only draw at night, I guess the peacefulness helps, so I spend most of the day just doing whatever, drowning in my self-hatred, or other stupid stuff.

I feel like I draw without forcing myself when I comfortable to do so, it's as if the body moves on it's own when the time is right, so I don't worry.

Could the color of the brush matter when I draw poses? I feel like when I use red, my poses are better than when I use black
>>
>>7778334
Yeah it matters. The hue is personal preference, blue or red are somewhat common. Pick any you like. It will contrast more against the plain white backgrounds. Black/grey can look a bit plain otherwise. The value matters a lot too, sketching with lighter tones will have less contrast so you don't commit to each line as much, compared to sketching with full black. Just use what you enjoy and what gets the results you want.

>>
>>7778265
Its been 15 years...
>>
>>7778404
not really, everyone has unique handwriting early on. people make marks slightly differently.
it's quite rare that someone would actually have the same skill level as someone else since there are so many micro-skills and depending on what you draw, you'll focus on different things.
some students that follow the same course from the same instructor can end up looking pretty similar when doing studies/homework but their own personal works usually looks different.
when pros work as a team, they specifcally have to use reference sheets to make their art match each others. and it still has to get corrected by one of the lead artists.

I can't help with coloring but she's lying on the floor, right? How the hair shadows are now it looks like the light comes from the floor. If that's not the case the shadows should be on the other side. If the floor is the light source then maybe some rim lighting would show it better.
While I was looking at it rotated I noticed it looks like the hair on one side defies gravity a bit. I tried to adjust it a bit but I'm not sure how much it helped.
Also, I think her palm is looking a little thick so I flattened it out.
Anyways I like what you're doing and I hope I gave you something useful.

you have cramped page syndrome here.

That's not actually a name that anyone uses, just a phenomenon I've noticed where people really want to fit something in the page, and so completely fuck the proportions to do so. You wanted to include the vagina, so you smushed her midsection smaller than it should be, the hands too. Be aware of this in the future

It looks like you don't understand the planes of the face and how important the glabella is as a nexus point. Also compare where the hair falls with the eye hieght it would be easier to capture the proportions that way.

i'll try doing another sketch starting with the glabella for my next drawing. i did draw a square for the forehead on my first draft. but there's no denying my sketch feels a bit "flat" in spite of it, i hoped to fix it with shadows while coloring

I just take it as I fucked up and I need to go to the next drawing but I should see how it would look if it were right so I just move one or two things around a bit if they're clearly off before switching to another drawing. I try to wait until I finished with it though to do any of that

>>7778496
Even if you’re just able to finish the drawings in 5 minutes that’s already a good start.
What I’ve been doing lately is do a batch of 5x5, pick out the 1 or 2 worst ones and correct the mistakes I made (with no time limit), do another batch of 5, repeat. I think it’s important to find a balance of volume and correctness.

>god this is so tiresome i just wanted an easy lineart to practice coloring kekkkk why is this so HARD

Yeah I've been there, it's rough like that but all steps have to be treated with the same time and respect as the previous. That's the hard part about learning. Some people draw until they have a solid drawing then the next day they'll use that for colors. Smarter people (who do not get the ick from it) simply trace what they want to practice and then work on what they want to isolate specifically. My ego doesn't let me do that so I'll use all my cognitive stamina drawing the same thing over and over until I get something I like then color it. Ultimately you may have to work like >>7778516 if you were doing this professionally so I don't see a problem with going down that path, there are jap artists that use the transform tool as much as they breathe.

Love the style. Reminds me of some of the better cartoon series during the 2000's. Only thing I'd say, is that the perapective down the shaft (heheh) is more extreme than the forshortening on the figure, just a tad. Eg, his legs should be larger at the thigh, narrower toward the ankle. Superior anons correct me if I'mwrong. And, if you can get some arching on his line of action at the same time, that'd be brilliant. But keep going with this piece, by all means. Looking great.

color is fucking you up when you don't even have the right values, start with grayscale
a very useful advice I once got is to first match the surrounding value of your subject
because of color/value relativity, your perception gets fucked if there's a large difference between yours and the ref (like there is right now in the gray of the ref vs yours)
