The general thread for Manga / manga-styled comic-making, manga-style illustration and related comic work. That said, everyone is welcome here.Support each other and talk about your work or the work of others that excites you. Inking, character design, paneling / layout, writing, planning, and other discussions are all welcome.Post resources, questions, in-progress pages, breakdowns of other works, etc. If a work is not yours, credit the maker (unless it's fucking obvious like a full page of One Piece or something). Thanks to everyone for making /mmg/ a level-headed and helpful place. >>7813043This is either a really wholesome post or fetish posting and I can't decide which.I like nurturing women and I would love to stare at their faces for eternity if I had the choice. Not even necessarily sexual, most of the women I feel this way towards are like older sisters to me.
>>7813066giant woman is probably the first fetish to exist in human history
>>7813094I don't even necessarily think it's perverse or degrading, it sort of depends on why the scene hit so hard. If it was the idea of being overwhelmed by a woman's warmth I get it. If ti's just "hot woman but big" then I also get it but why Macross and you probably have never been genuinely attached to a woman.
>>7813066its fetish posting, but its allowed cause its hot. I dont know why in the world of 2d, more people dont just insert hot fetishes into their story. you control the world, her tits can be bigger than her head if you want
>>7813149>. I dont know why in the world of 2d, more people dont just insert hot fetishes into their story. you control the world, her tits can be bigger than her head if you wantA lot of people in Japan do and that's probably most people here as well. It's just that porn exists and is extremely available, while giving soul to something isn't. You will never become better than yourself if you only serve yourself.
This is a warning to my fellow wannabe mangaka.Forget about art. Forget about learning how to draw a manga.Learn AI.The age of human-drawn manga will be hitting the tail end by 2030.Publisher will prefer to work with mangaka with AI skill than old-school mangaka.Consumer cannot be careless whether a manga is drawn by AI or human for as long as they can consume new shiny things.Human drawn manga will be extinct just like 2D mecha and vehicles in anime. This is your last warning, learn AI now.Or else you will be dwarfed by AI-savvy mangaka who can churn out a weekly-serialization worth of pages in just 10-20 minutes.
>>7813276>Saar I promise it's only two more weeks until ai takes over
>>7813276this was talked about on xitter and so like a good few weeks ago, how are you so lazy that you're late even in baiting people. plus we had a big ai thing just last thread, if you want maximum impact you need to atleast wait for things to properly cool off first before trying again. also try and integrate some greentext next time so that the paragraphs stand out more. you're better then this
>>7813276No, lol.
>>7813276AI takes 2 seconds to learn how to do, ive experimented in it, why would somebody read your AI shit when theres a million other AI comics, or they can make their own. Lets not have this convo again, and get back to giant women
>>7813276No point learning AI, AI bots will replace AI 'artists' just as quickly.
>>7813276This is a warning to my fellow wannabe chefs.Forget about cooking. Forget about learning how to prepare a dish.Learn Microwave. The age of human-cooked food will be hitting the tail end by 1980.Restaurant will prefer to work with chefs with microwave skill than old-school chefs.Consumer cannot be careless whether food is heated by microwave or cooked by human for as long as they can consume new tasty things.Human cooked food will be extinct just like fresh fruit and vegetables. This is your last warning, learn microwave now.Or else you will be dwarfed by microwave-savvy chefs who can heat up a whole dinner worth of food in just 1-2 minutes.
>>7813276What part of "We want to personally make our own comics" do you not understand, and that making the comic includes the PROCESS of doing it too? If all you want is to jump immediately to the end result, then go post about it on /g/. Christ, you remind me of those stereotypical chinese gamers who upon getting a new game immediately jump to downloading every single cheat mod there is before even playing the game for the first time.
>kino panelIs there a book or resource for pen only drawing? I really dig this kind of clean looking visuals instead of shading.
>>7813486What is there really to learn? Draw the shapes you want, try to use solid continuous lines for the important ones. Then outline where you want shades and draw those small lines and dots inside the desired areas. All of that I learned from your picture.
>>7813490sorry, maybe I am just retarded
>>7813486It's as easy as it looks, the hardest part is just composing the backgrounds.
WHERE'S THE FUCKING MANGA YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE MAKING? NO NEW PAGES IN DAYS! JUST BITCHING ABOUT COMPUTERS! SOME OF YOU WHINE ABOUT NOT GETTING PUBLISHED BUT POST PAGES YOU MADE YEARS AGO RATHER THAN PAGES YOU MADE THIS WEEK. THIS GENERAL IS PATHETIC AND LAZY!!

Ive seen some of you guys bring up this subject before, but is publishing manga online for free, a better idea than trying it sold/ published?Looking at this more niche comic publisher for example, theyve got some comics being sold that alot of people here, eclipse in terms of skillhttps://www.gestaltcomics.com/shelf/mixed-feelings-book-1/https://www.gestaltcomics.com/shelf/storm-warning-vol-1/Would getting published anywhere, even if you dont get many sales, be better than just publishing everywhere online? Its be seen as more legitimate. Could you also try to do both, or are publishers less likely to publish your works if its online for free, vs exclusively available if you pay for it
>>7813692wait this is so good
>>7813518I've uploaded about 40 pages to my website
>>7814043Listen man, consider it anecdotal but from the creators I see online like this bitchhttps://tapas.io/series/unfamiliar/infoAnd this other bitch on Youtube who made her comic onlinehttps://comicaurora.com/Along shit like Cucumber Quest and other shit like that, is that you can do online first, and then get a publishing deal after. Granted the downside is that you gotta work for free making the comic on you own until you find someone willing to send it into bookshelves, but getting an online project published for real can happen, so in my view its better to just start working on it now and grow that audience and become a name for yourself in your own right. Its harder then getting that check outright, but the way things are execs dont wanna take risks
>>7813518I'm resting until 2026. Every great mangaka must take time off.
>>7814057>Granted the downside is that you gotta work for free making the comic on you own until you find someone willing to send it into bookshelves,I'm used to that. I'm going to do one more oneshot to see my improvements and maybe afterwards I should consider that. I have the ideas and the audience but not enough professional clout.
>>7813518I became a waggie to buy a desk and a new tablet, i'm sorry
>>7814048Thanks anon
>>7813658I wouldn't know, I just don't do competitions. March is currently where active production is. Material until march is mostly finished and left to simmer until I figure out what's missing.
>>7813276I believe AI will eventually become an essential tool for modern comics for massively reducing drawing time but relying solely on it to do everything is just wrong. I, for one, will not submit to that. Even if I eventually resort to it for background stuff, I will still draw characters and do most of the inking myself and I will definitely not let AI touch my story.
not to fucking circle back to AI, but is this some kind of inside joke with the comments, and this being number 1 right now on mangaplus creators?https://mangaplus-creators.jp/episodes/fi2512020053320027307037That, or the retarded indians just botted, but it seems too retarded. Hes got another 180 pages on global comixSucks cause this legit masterpiece is 5th somehowhttps://mangaplus-creators.jp/titles/1j2512022211340027312575
Is there a Jewtube loophole that allows CCs to upload entire manga chapters without getting their videos pulled down? I've seen a lot of channels on the algo doing full chapter reads, I'm assuming it's pretty profitable because there's a lot of them, with the generic AI slop voice included.
>>7814413I'm mildly curious now. You have an example?
>>7814420Hajime no Ippo, there's a guy reading full chapters in YouTube, he gets donation goals for TLs as well.
>>7814395>https://mangaplus-creators.jp/titles/1j2512022211340027312575I'm too old to find the plot interesting but it is composed well and definitely could see it as a proper shonen. It's better than that dumb series where everyone becomes a zombie and some salaryman is happy and that was able to get serialized.
i need to scramble for a bithday gift for a friend, what's some kino ass oneshots/omnibus I can get him for less than 50
Just started toning, like 20 pages Ive stocked up, anybody got any tips on making scenes look underwater? I've mainly been using this as reference https://mangadex.org/chapter/6e0d3f21-a164-440a-aa1a-df6a1302ff38/26 (ive got the monochrome version)this is the start of a scene taking place underwater, in this realm between the waves, where the governments lazily thrown a bunch of bodies, and useless magical artifacts into. Ill probably add more details to this page, darkness underneath, and wave currents, but tell me what else I should add to make it look better + more obvious its underwater.
>>7814483>>7814477goodbye eri, Uzumaki, or The Fadeout, are pretty kino contained stories, you can also get Watchmen cheap too
What paper sizes do manga/comics use?
>>7814422So you're saying I or anybody on /mmg/ could donate money to this guy and he'll read the manga/comic? I'm almost half tempted to have him only read dingle's porn mangas. The reader is required to say every single line. All physical sounds must be made using a bowl of warm mac and cheese.
>>7814477toriyamas manga theatre is a lot of fun
>>7814395this shit is going to make shueisha shut the site down or block access from outside japan or something. It feels like we're reaching a boiling point with AI manga and somethings got to give. Either a good AI manga will come out through official channels or it will implode.
>>7814483>>7814487this is awesome
>>7814395>https://mangaplus-creators.jp/titles/1j2512022211340027312575mogs chainsaw man
>>7814599If you want actual measurements of shit like this just look up Mixam printing website. Don't buy anything but just pick like comic book or manga and it gives you the dimensions. But you don't need to draw in that size exactly, but you gotta keep the dimensions in the same. Let's say your comic is 5×5, you can draw on paper that's 6x6 or 3x3 cause whether you scale it up or down the dimensions are the same
>manga making general Let's all enjoy making mangas together
>>7814395The 2nd comic you posted is one of the best I've seen from this amateur manga space. This guy knows how to introduce a premise and keep the reader invested for a period of time, a skill which seems to elude a lot of other artists including ones who draw much better than him. Also the setup and tone remind me of drama queen. However I'm not sure wtf I was supposed to take away from that ending. It makes the entire thing feel like an anti-story except not done in an ambitious way to prove a point like in no country for old men.
>>7815214I can't see anything other than great art, solid composition, and an uninteresting story. Which still far surpasses poor art and still an uninteresting story which is far more frequent even in stuff that makes it to serialization.
>>7814995>>7815216Meant to reply to this, but in his defense oneshots are frequently conclusive while being open-ended because it's supposed to draw interest in serialization.

How to regain back my childlike wonder?Looking at all the doodles from when I was a kid, I feel like the 8yo me drew much cooler shits than everything I've drawn 20 years later despite having better knowledge and technical skills.
New chapter is up!
>>7813621Also this cool person drew a spin off which is at the end of this month's chapter!
>>7815295>>7815301Reddit can work hosting-wise for small comics, but not for the longform ones /mmg/ anons make. I've never seen a imageset go for longer than maybe 10 images. Some anons here make entire chapter's worth of like 40-50 pages at a time. Also, these comics tend to be completely self-contained between episodes whereas /mmg/ comics continue to build on the same plot chapter after chapter. It wouldn't make sense for anons to upload to reddit.
>>7815409Is this the first /mmg/ official collab (however small)?
>>7815406>>7815409Charming stuff.
>>7815349I'm struggling with this too, but back then I drew because it was fun to explore different avenues. Unfortunately as I became older my goals became more rigid and I basically only draw when I have a work goal now. Me losing all my old friends from getting older hasn't helped things either.
>>7815349Just draw whatever you want, man. I got inspired to draw oddly enough by stuff like the Homeworld games.
>>7815295lol redditEven before the recent incident I was filtered by the fact that they are so strict about self promo not to mention there's no place for you don't draw sunday funnies or strips.>>7815456There's always more things you need to learn and therefore more interests to discover. Finding inspirations outside of what you are immediately doing is valuable to making something lively. You can't get back your childhood wonder because you're not a child, but there plenty of things to find wonderful about the world.
>>7815538>There's always more things you need to learn and therefore more interests to discover. Finding inspirations outside of what you are immediately doing is valuable to making something lively. I'm very interested in new topics and I love the outside world, it just doesn't translate well to drawing. I don't hate drawing and I actually like it, but I have no art friends so outside of when it's needed for work and/or projects I barely do it anymore. Seeing trends go away from comics also isn't helping. I miss when I actually felt motivated to draw.
>>7815645>I love the outside world, it just doesn't translate well to drawingYou're gonna have to explain this logic cause this is unfathomable to me.
>>7814395Coincidentally I came across this video about it on YT just now keksome of these youtubers, man...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDnILbbL4rw
>>7815729Outside world takes a lot of energy both when working with nature and with people. I get motivated to draw nature scenes once in a blue moon but without any art friends it's hard to get my mind into an art mood. Doesn't help that whenever I do draw such scenes I can't help but be annoyed at how I can't get the beauty put on paper quite how I wish.

>>7815801You're not going to get meaningful connections on Discord. I learned this in a rather annoying way as well.
>>7815807Should clarify and mean specifically connections that will help you get into the industry. Maybe you'll find a friend or two to talk with but honestly most artists are self-obsessed and/or too busy to form anything resembling a stable friendship.
>>7815740made the mistake of listening to that whole thing. what a low iq retard, no substantive critiques, basically just about how it wasnt following shonen tropes, and therefore was awful. looking into his channel and manga though, hes made the most generic manga ever, and just starts beefs to try and get clicks. he just stole half an hour of my time so i guess he won tho
>>7813692Fantastic art anon
>>7815819I liked neither the comic nor the video and they seem like symptoms of art not being considered something for elites anymore.
>>7815807I know, but I gain nothing by shutting off social media and staying on anonymous boards forever. I'm hoping talking to new people and making actual online friends will help keep me motivated, at least.
>>7815827>I know, but I gain nothing by shutting off social media and staying on anonymous boards forever.Ideally you should be on neither. I shouldn't be on here as well but my motivation is at an all time low. We could be friends if you wanted. I am a stickler when it comes to narrative depth and view artwork as secondary which goes against how most people online see it so either we would get along really well or not at all.

>>7816195Zebra Maru and Nikko G.
>>7816195I must be stupid because these all look extremely similar. And on csp when I use my tablet, my lines look like any one of these on a given day even when I use the same brush, its all random and depends on how slippery the screen is or what angle the nub's worn edge is at. I couldn't tell you the difference between the portraits.
>>7816688Yeah, the images really don't show it well, It's easier to tell when you have the real materials and are using them since they have varying flexibility and widths. On paper where space is limited it can drastically change the way you approach drawing and detailing.
Lets say that I'm in a simulation and I know that the simulation is going to basically start going to shit sometimes between now and next November- do you think it is worth trying to make a manga still?
from now on I'm not sketching pages anymore. I already drew a comic I like but now I have to ink it so its presentable to other people. Its like doing it all twice again, I'm not motivated or inspired to redraw shit I already dreamed about and had fun sketching for weeks. Never again, I'm only drawing things ONCE from now on.

>>7814395what started this high fov face style that gets popular nowadays? Like a close up of a girls face giving off some strong emotion though a door's peephole.
>>7814395looks like the botted comic tanked to 3rd place and little monster is above it now so there's some justice in the world ig
What are your thoughts on slow burn doujins? I tend to make doujins that take 20 pages for the sex to begin (ignoring any teasing scenes before hand.)
colored another page up~!>>7815409This is super cool anon! >>7814050Link anon? I like the whimsy here!
>>7809740I've been busy not drawing but here she is.I have a bad habit of only drawing neutral faces which is something I'll have to change if I want to get this done, I guess
>>7818184I like the implication that the character is horny or is doing something degenerate without showing. Also using something similar to extreme close up shots or anything no so explicit is also welcome. I also like pantsu so some forced perspective to show the them would be nice, also a good chance to show curvy bodies. Also I'm disappointed on how little kissing scenes there are in doujins, after sex kissing should be mandatory.I'm trying to remember that doujin with the chick with a split tongue, I'd recommend it if I could remember the title
>>7818486Japs don't do a lot of kissing irl either. Just not a thing in their culture. If you've ever seen them try to do it in JAVs you can see they have NO idea how to lmao
did it as a joke in /beg/ but I might try to organize it into an actual page
>>7818486I'm making a yugioh gx doujin where the male goes to a spot to get teased by one of the teachers, not knowing its her and then finds out after. He takes multiple trips to this spot and then they return for one more real encounter after her disguise is blown. It's fan art of a shy character so It was hard for me to imagine it happening faster. I'm also so autistically attached to making it feel authentic that it includes a duel (that is cut away from)My point is that I'm kind of doing what you suggested, It's just shown and not implied.>>7818562canon material right here
in a commie mood because I joined an organization
First piece made entirely for social media. It was fun to work on it.
>>7818562>>7818688>>7818890nice, keep it up guys
What are some things people put in the back of graphic novels/tankobons? I want to add some accoutrements to my one-shot
>>7819190TOC, how to read, and a forward page for starters. I include "file" pages at the end of my chapters for bonus information (stuff I forgot to explain.)a character roll call. bonus illustrations, a 2 page spread, colored versions of panels you like as chapter breaks. make a drawing to go on the back cover aswell.here's a bunch of stuff I made for my vol 1https://files.catbox.moe/g0bxx3.pnghttps://files.catbox.moe/0nrv55.pnghttps://files.catbox.moe/g0bxx3.pnghttps://files.catbox.moe/kpbz48.png
>>7819201Just out of curiosity, which are your favorite manga?
>>7819220Ajin, jujutsu kaisen, vinland saga, attack on titan, kaijiI referenced viz tankobon like bleach, and MHA for my tankobon look
>>7819190I plan on putting lore drops on stuff that i think is cool and sort of relevant but can't find a place to explain it in the story.

some of you guys mentioned getting kicked off of mangaplus and other sites for "gore", how stringy are they? One of my leads loses 2 of his fingers, and Im about to draw a wide panel with a close up of his mangled hand. but Im sorta thinking it might not be worth it, if I have to censor it on so many platforms. I mean Im probably gonna draw it anyways, cause I dont wanna let some dumb censorship stuff screw with the vision, especially since theres a fairly prominent woman, whos a floating corpse with a chewed off face, and id rather not have to constantly censor her face
>>7819277Nice i just read the whole thing, its pretty good
>>7819314I want to know more about this as well, since my story has parts that involve children getting killed by bad guys. Does gore restriction only apply visually or to indirect depiction too? Can I get away with it if I imply it happens offscreen? How much blood is too much to be gore? Is it okay for a limb to come off as long as there's no blood? I want to be clear on this.
>>7819314I had my stuff flagged/hidden off mangaplus but I don't think it was for a real reason. I suspect it was just bots spamming reports and then bots automatically hiding them because I didn't change anything in my comics and they're still up today.
>>7819314MPC has never had an issue with the gore I've drawn. They've always made sure to complain about seeing a nipple, though, even though my comic isn't meant to be pornographic.
>>7819201cool page!
>>7819314Mangaplus has moderation? The third place on their monthly awards is a literal botted unintelligible AI slop. No way they care about that.
>>7819222
>>7820050nice job, that was fast
>>7819633>even though my comic isn't meant to be pornographic.Well the one thing i learned is that even people who don't intend to make pornographic works can at times make something pornographic unintentionally, like a subconscious thing. But i will give you the benefit of the doubt. What's your manga Anon? I'll give it a look and see how SFW or NSFW it is.
I fucking hate reddit. Mods deleted my post after it got 200 updoots for no reason, they even denied it at first. Then they muted me so i cant send them any more messages.
>>7820272Serves you right. Rules are rules
