Testing out new materials. Conte sanguine is nice.P.S. what is this retarded captcha?
>>7827534that's not a figure drawing
Started another graphite study.I figured out, in French Academia people used conte pencil, charoal and the stamp. Hatching a a3 paper with a fine point feels like autism, desu.
>>7827535You, again?
>>7827542bonjour
>>7827544shalom
The new captcha fucking sucks
>>7827523should the thread be "figurative" illustration general
Trying to get back into figure drawing. I’m trying things from different masters, critique is more than welcome
>>7827805>critique is more than welcomeThat's not what a nose looks like.
>>7827805I think you're doing well. Just keep drawing and studying. There are a few areas you can improve but it's mostly just more anatomy and polish.
Today’s practice. I’m not sure about the arm length or head size, so let me know>>7827808I mean body-related critiques. I wasn’t practicing faces, but I gave it a try here.>>7827928Thank you, yeah, the grind never ends. I just finished Hide’s figure course and was planning on copying Morpho’s simplified forms. I’ve been trying to escape whatever hell I’m in right now for a couple of years.
I'm starting to feel like my brain just can't process 3D shapes at all even looking at references. Just keep beating my head against a wall.
>>7827974Sometimes it's just impossible without the experience this is why figure , gesture drawing and copying your favorite artists is so important, you just have to grind the shapes until you can rotate them on your own. Never give up.
>>7827541Try to capture the figure as a whole, seems like you draw it "part by part", also work on those lips and hair, they seem too stiff and out of touch; thanks for the ref tried it too ^^
time-lapse
>>7827957try to lengthen her calves and legs by 1/4; it may look more proportional.
>generate random pictures, random angles random rotations, zooms???Basically a practice drawing tool? But just splatter you with pictures, no timer, you can just...clickthru. or whatever do you need to add up to six digit traffic?
>>7827986>seems like you draw it "part by part"im not sure what you mean
>>7827986
>>7828380In reality its not that forword tilted, camera distorts reality.
>>7828380....my intent isn't to draw it 1by1.I rather try to capture the form and understand the what i'm looking at.....i drew that probably in 8 min. if we count the shading maybe 10 min..
>>7828384sure, I'm just going off of the reference in OP's post>>7828386>I rather try to capture the form and understand the what i'm looking at.....I'm not quite sure what you mean, as there are simple yet meaningful differences in the cast and your drawing which show a lack of understanding of the form and the placement of features. I'm just pointing them out.
>>7828390i understadn your concern, ofc. i lack in form but i rather draw 10 drawings in 10 hours (which may lack on some aspects) than 1 drawing in 10 hours (in which i took my time to measure everything just to "copy" it 1:1)..... i did that in the past but...na not my cup of tea atm., maybe for intense study-subjects in the future... but for now i rather enjoy just drawing. ^^
>>7828386>I rather try to capture the form and understand the what i'm looking atsounds like cope, to be honestif you would say, it a rough, quick sketch, okeybut i dont see any deeper understanding of the subject, proportions are off, form is off, face features are off.i spend already 2 to 4 hours on the drawing, comparing and measuring and i think i gained a deeper understanding of the subject, than you did.>but for now i rather enjoy just drawingthat sounds more like truth.
>>7828393that's fair. unless you (the general 'you', not specific 'you') have to draw/paint something for someone else, you're free to do whatever. in part I just like analyzing people's work for my own eye, but also in the (perhaps rare) case that someone else sees it and gets something out of it.
>>7828428:/ well, it's not like i can't do that what your talkin' about; =.="if you gained a depper understanding of the subject than the your next subject with the evidence.
>>7828454>if you gained a depper understanding of the subject than the your next subject with the evidenceWhat?>:/ well, it's not like i can't do that what your talkin' about; =.="But you wasnt able to catch the proportions in the short amount of time, innit?
>>7828474"i spend already 2 to 4 hours on the drawing, comparing and measuring and i think i gained a deeper understanding of the subject, than you did."If that's the case show the evidence of that understanding you've gained with a drawing of this image. Shouldn't be too hard.
>>7827523Can you give us tips to make them look more fluid? We feel they look very stiff
>>7828484Holy sexo
:)
>>7828612I have adverse feelings about this image
The calves from this angle are giving me grief.
>>7827805those old NMA figure drawing videos are goated. Too bad YT's ban hammer forced them to remove somehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TehpctDO7yA&list=PL7EWYwaF6E-Exv72kVT4yYJM2lX-Xf66I&index=3
>>7828484I do a comission for free for you and what happens then?
>>7829024sex
>>7829025Are you a woman?
>>7829049not even slightly
>>7829054Hmm, that would be gay, then.
>>7829100fair enough
>>7829024my intention were something else, but anyways i don't know what has come into your mind to think i would want a comission fo yurs....i wouldn't pay for a comission of yours.... your current drawing-skills are poor and need improvement which will come through mileage and drawing on a constant basis.... right now your art-style, if i can call it a "style", is not appealing to the eyes.
>>7827523How's his body? How can I fix him? Also don't be hatin I'm not trying to be a pro artist or a poser I just like to draw on my super expensive awesome phone.
>>7829192oh boy, you tried to stylin on me, failed and now youre mad
>>7829192yeah, anyway, what no now, big boy?
please
It feels like im wasting my time with all that cross-hatching.
imagination session, happy with these sketches.>>7828484nice sculpture>>7827734the fat ones are nice, good job>>7828577Try to focus on two things.1Create more acute angles between the hips and ribcage. Your torsos are pretty straight, so exaggerate if needed.2make the figure feel grounded. This helps sell the pose more easily.these are basically the core points Bridgman talks about: balance, twisting, rhythm, and so on. Marshall and Ron Lemen have done incredible lectures about the book.
kungfu poses >>7830967I really like the emphasis on the scapula in these.
>>7830843What sight-size guide are you following? You're doing some things right but a hhandful wrong.
>>7832252>What sight-size guide are you following?Non, i always draw via proportion measurement.
>>7832260>Non, i always draw via proportion measurement.Well its true for drawing from life. When im doing studys digitally or when i draw on paper from ipad ref, i usualy do sight size. Measuring in such a set-up feels retarded.
>>7832263
Can somebody please recommend me a figure drawing book? The way I draw figures is really obtuse and I can't even remember my own method half the time. I'd really prefer to learn how to draw figures in a way that isn't retarded.
>>7833700>expecting to find help in a circlejerk thread
>>7835004this is a circle jerk thread? how so? just curious
>>7827957nice work.

>>7829332GJ, still put more emphasize on your darks and highlights, so it may create more distinction and impact as a whole
>>7827986Jesus that's so bad
>>7842309Bad, like badass "bad"..?.. Ó_Ò
i need to stop being stupid and move out of pens and markers already
>>7827523
today's figgies. Much less than I'd planned, but I need to finish my damn storyboard first draft
>>7842414Why? I like the look
>>7842581It’s a good look for sure but artists should always expand their horizons. I’d be interested in seeing their work in pen and ink or even colored pencil
>>7842621or copic and posca
>>7842414That looks awesome
nice, first /fig/ post of 26
Anyone else doing this one? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvdeyRrO59Y
>>7845196Nah, I'm already challenged.
>>7828102got any anatomy studying tips sensei
>>7845047proportions wonky
am i hitting the mark with these gestures at all? did about 30 from >>7845196
I am really enjoying alcohol marker and color pencil combo atm.>>7842580These look really nice. is your storyboard draft a personal project or for work?
How do I draw better noses?
back after hiatusI have trouble with hue variation especially in skin tones. I usually exaggerate them too much.
I think there is something I am getting on some but not on others but I can't grasp what
>>7848525Sitting poses are very static.
>>7848129Really nice work
>>7827523“…and then I said”
>>7829309I don't know why my anatomy is so off but I tried recreating your drawing
is there a good source of poses with every day clothing? also young and thin models I don't want to be eye offended by hags and obese women
>>7850072Social media
>>7850029>I don't know whyperspective, proportion, and construction errors compounding
>>7850149Would you might pointing it out on the drawing it would help a lot anon! Also how beg am I?
>>7846009you're not wrong, I struggle with proportions, esp if I'm doing quick drawings from photosReal unhappy with this one, didn't even manage to get any structural relationship between the ribs and pelvis. I need to practice more.
>>7850099really? I think all the pictures are in low res or they just never upload the original res
>>7850784Nah, social media is perfect primarily because it’s a LOT of pictures on there. Try twitter especially, people upload lots of good pictures there
>>7850813what should I look up?it's easy to find e-whores for references but I'd like to peer into the average female body
>>7850820Bruh you don’t have to look anything up lmao, there’s people in every day clothing , young people, and thin people all over social media. This is actually what makes up a majority of social media since it’s so superficial. Just look up #fits or #dresses or whatever you want and boom you’ll find thousands of images that you want.
>>7850180a couple examplesconstruction: youve created a horizontal plane at the pit of his neck. try tracing a line along the center of his body and youll see it.perspective: the far leg looks drawn from the side while the rest of the body is drawn from above.proportion: the arm further away is thicker than the one closer to us and the close one is too long.
>>7851126Ok I tried working on a of your few tips. Can I be considered intermediate now or am I still beg? Appreciate your help
>>7851354your mid pro deluxe tier
>>7851369I dont know that many poses and I can't really draw legs for now. I haven't even touched color theory. I really hope I can atleast be able to paint by next year
Are boxy mannequins allowed
>>7851925these look great. got a link to whatever ref pack youre using?
>>7852082Thanks, they're just random pinterest pics
>>7852875cute!
>>7853047Thanks! I wanted to spice up the thread haha
>>7848129>These look really nice. is your storyboard draft a personal project or for work?technically personal, though i guess that depends on the outcome
???
>>7853680You will need paper the size of a house to fit the entire model.
>YO MAMMA IS SO BIG THAT... >>7854237
>>7851354why does it matter? aim for a goal and work towards it. this stupid /ic/ level and tier bullshit is retarded. if you work dilligently, you'll eventually reach a certain skill level but in the end, there is alway more to learn and a lifetime of learning you will alway have to do. no artist can do everything and there is much more art beyond drawing. just keep at it, dont stress yourself too much and try to have fun.
>>7854913Damn, i need to watch some porn
>>7827957How do you draw so clean like that? do you have discord? https://discord.gg/ww7aGbSx^ temp server i made to find me easily.also hi /fig/ here's some figure drawings i did this morning, what do you think? Critique?
>>7857208torso too tall
This is the secret to figure drawing. It's the only thing you need to know for dynamic poses.
Done during life drawing. I like what I was able to do with relatively simple hatching, also the face is much nicer than last week.(Swear to god it better not rotate the image on upload)
>>7858285Cool, I need to do some of that life drawing one day. I used yours as ref for a quickie.
Clothed figgies
>>7857582Yeah, you’re right. Was mostly for exaggeration purposes though
>>7858317Great work >>7858335Love these. Simple yet effective lines
>>7858317Damn, that's awesome! One day I too will be able to do competent figures more quickly (and adding limbs that aren't there at that)
>>7858335these are great. where do you source your references from?
