>>7846390>The last (and only) manga to win the full "入選" (top prize) in the JUMP新世界漫画賞 is 「カクレミ」 (Kakuremi) by 百田稜助 (Ryōsuke Momota). This was in the 22nd round (around 2019), where it also received the 超新星賞 and was published in Weekly Shonen Jump issue 30 of 2019. It is the only work to ever achieve the "入選" rank in this award's history, as confirmed by official listings and discussions—no others have been awarded since, with recent rounds using different prize naming (e.g., top prizes now called Grand Prize or similar, but no equivalent "入選"). What a huge fucking scam. And this Ryosuke guy still haven't gotten serialized yet. His last work was a one shot 異次元生体サイボーグ0番 in December 2024.
Guys, I know most of you are really into shonen and action, but at some point you should try making a real drama comic. It really messes with your worldview. you can’t just half-ass it you need to research, read stuff, and talk to real people. And yeah, that’s usually what leads to real recognition. Honestly, drama is pretty much the only thing that puts an artist on another level. Just look at Fujimoto. Shonen is fun, it’s entertainment, but his dramatic work goes way beyond the manga and comics audience and reaches ordinary people. I’m not a professional or anything, just a reader. I read a ton of graphic novels and manga from all genres, but the dramatic ones are the only ones that actually change how I see the world. I get that not everyone here wants that, everyone has their own goals, and that’s fine. Still, try pushing yourselves at least once. just my opinion
>>7846542That's nice bro, kind of preaching to the choir here though.
>I read a ton of drama manga>people standing around whispering to each other about the guy that can kill every other character with just a finger
>>7846542what are the best drama manga

>>7846652that's what I said about last year. it's fucking joever
>>7846616nta, but you should read Himitsu.
Took a pause on the manga-making to draw Triela. Just couldn't resist it. I don't think I ever drew anything with such a flow state.
>>7846397I got promoted to costumer on my job, so i will be hanging, maybe around
>>7846542No, thanks.I make manga to make money. If 7 out of 10 best selling manga is shonen battle manga then it'a obvioua where the money is accumulating in.
>>7846542This but replace drama comic with shojo BL
>>7846542>>7847606>>7847620>a shojo BL battle manga set in irl with hard-hitting drama momentsAny takers?
Fuck that, I am bringing Battle Harems back.
>>7847682So... you making a LN? That wasn't really a thing in manga.
>>7847682Battle harem where everyone in the thread designs a girl.
>>7847683Bro, there were tons of stuff like that that was manga/anime as well. Tenjou Tenge, Ikki Tousen, even stuff like Highschool DxD and a bunch of other stuff falls in or at least near that category.
Keep yourself horny and you'll make it. It was that easy all along.
Got some inking tools for Christmas, so I've been trying it out a little. I'm now realizing how much hand-holding I'm getting with using a stabilizer, liquify and undo in CSP
>>7847820looks really cool, shading as usual is spot on, was it pens or nibs you got?>>7846542i feel like there arent many battle shonen dudes here, I've seen some cool, more experimental stuff here. Looking at some reddit sites pages though, its clear some people have only ever consumed shonen manga, and thus unfortunately, their stuff is sorta generic. My 2 favorite Shonen, Chainsawman and Jojo, clearly are made by authors who pull from a wide range of genres. personally Im trying to make a "drama" comic, basically a full length movie, and I think its going ok, although I sorta wished I started later when I was better at art, cause me opening art isnt great (not that its good now, but im better). The "hook" of my story happens at the end of my first chapter, and the full story is put into motion in the second chapter, but I probably spent too much time at the start with "boring" stuff, as some people have put it. Movies can afford to start a bit later, but all the comic and manga experts go over how you should immediately start with a bang. >>7845739also do you guys think this face looks right? Tried for a while to get this face to look right, then switched to digital, and although I ended up basically going over a 3d model, I still feel like this doesnt look right. looking at it too now, I might go back and fix up the leg on the right, and water to the girls face, as shes just drowned to deathany other critiques are welcome too,
>>7847881hey man, you oughta tighten up your hatchingliterally, i mean. draw the lines closer together, draw more lines. just that on its own would be a pretty significant level up.as for the face, eh nothing about it stands out as super wrong to me. it's good enough.
>>7847820Very cute anon your art improved in trad
>>7847881Thanks, I got me some G pen nibs with a holder. Bit of a learning curve on how to use them properly, but I'm having fun with it>>7847896Really? Thanks, I feel like I have less control over my lines when using ink, but it also gives them a very different character when compared to my digital line work
>>7847962>WEEE000-WEEE000-The best part of the page.
Finished my one-shot.. It's probably not very consistent and it's probably very unclear what's happening but at least I finally finished something. What do you think https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TMnka39XZdIda9e9zmSLGZJ_tYNPXQuz/view?usp=sharing
>>7847820Stiffer nibs basically have a "stabilizer" imo. The less flexible they are the easier they are to control.
>>7847881Your work would look so much better if you:A. Stop HatchingB. Get really good at hatchingC. Use a hatching brush insteadIt REALLY looks bad, at makes your style look so much more amateur, when I can see substance and style underneath.
I'm thinking of creating a series of comic strips with manga style in which girls tour European countries. Do you have any references I can use as a basis for making comic strips about a any European country, whether on YouTube channels, in books, or elsewhere?
I'm gonna start working on a manga and it will be my first experience, does anyone have a piece of advice for a total noob in manga making? Also what resolution should I use?
>>7847894>>7848077Thanks for pointing that out. Barely ink digitally, but last time i did i got the same comments, so seeing as im probably gonna switch from trad to digital, I’ll focus on improving the hatching
>>7848182>piece of adviceRemember to have fun :)
>>7848182It's gonna be hard as fuck. But you can do it.>Which resolution Depends on what you want to do with it. If you're gonna print it you need high res etc.
>>7848182The technical questions with working on manga filters me that's why I've been on and off with it. To this day I'm still confused with paper sizes and tones, fucking tones. Tutorials I see floating around are in japanese most of the time like this https://www.pixiv.net/en/artworks/115817332My advice is to don't think too much of these anyway or you'll end up manga-less like me
>>7847966I love it! It's interesting despite some of the weird English here and there. One of the cooler things I've seen from here >>7848182Do a few pages or a one shot. Don't try to Jump into a long work. Resolution depends on if you plan on printing or not. That also matters for margins and typesetting.
>>7848276Thank you anonThe weird English is intentional (mostly), the bug girl just can't speak properly..
>>7847966Yeah. I can't really tell what's going on and the colors hurt the eyes a bit, but it was cool. The part where she reconstructs herself was really well done.
>>7848182Best way to start is to just dive in and try to tell whatever story made to want to make a comic in the first place.>Also what resolution should I use?Draw big, reduce it on export. A standard A4 or B4 at 600DPI is perfectly fine.>>7848251Tones are just values. If your values are bad then your tones will look wrong. If you mean literally applying tones, well, that's very simple and there's numerous ways you could do it. You could take a png of the tone and slap where you want it. You could paint in gray and convert that gray layer into tone. You could download a tone brush. They all achieve the same effect.
>>7848300>>7848313Thank u, I was excited to draw this part from the start,m I'm happy you like itI need to work on my storytelling, a lot..
>>7848194>>7848195>>7848251>>7848276>>7848304Thank you bros. Hope it turns out passable!
>>7847962>Sughara If you're aiming for a Japanese naming system that doesn't work it needs a 2nd vowel after the G.
>>7847966this has legs, my favourite parts were the almost 4th wall breaking texture and image changes, like I think if you pushed it further, like the stone is a hyper realistic 3D render, maybe there are some physicallity of like magazine collage clippings, or some like glitch art, push the mixed media-ness of it all, have more intentional panel breaks, use the media of the comic as a means to push the absurdness of the situation. like the panelling is more composed but falls apart as whatever psychadellic bullshittery happens. i'd prefer the the text be more legible, atleast for the non alien chick.>>7847881First: the draw over the 3d model looks fine, think I went through this a few threads ago, you are fighting yourself on this hap hazard hatching; less is more, thinner lines and consistent spacing.that being said I dont envy you having to depict water or dampness.
>>7848251Professionals work in size B4 (very big), and A4 is the size for Doujins or fan works (about the real size of a sheet of copy paper) So in CSP when you open a new file, there are options for A4 Monochrome or B4 Monochrome. You don't need to mess with the resolution further because the presets already have everything right. By the way, you can work in a smaller canvas size so long as the aspect ratio is maintained, but if you're trying to use digital tone options in CSP, if you make the canvas smaller the dots will be too large, so don't change it.
>>7848370Thank you, I was thinking about mixing in more stuff like, as you said, 3d etc., I think I'll certainly be exploring this in the future
>>7847966Looks interesting, loved the fruit gear x vaporwave vibe this gets. I think you should change the font for a more readable one and work more in your paneling, but this is someone everyone struggle at first so dont worry.
>>7847962

>>7848528Oh no....
>>7848529>>7848528No way, isnt he the guy from chapter 3 in fortnite? Hes about to oneshot them with his kame hawaii
>>7845739Why haven't you learn AI yet, anon?Forget about learning how to draw, learn how to code and prompt. We're entering the end of the human-made manga era.In the next 4 years, AI manga will dominate the Oricon chart, AI manga will be the new norm and big publisher like Shueisha will prefer to work with AI-savvy mangaka. Those who conquer AI will conquer the world.Use AI now or you'll end up a failed mangaka whose work keep getting rejected.
>>7848602>Entire article is how it is being pushed corpo juggernaut>Despite this, and while also achieving #1, still only has a 3.1/5 rating.I remain unbothered.
>>7848609>This led some to speculate that most readers may not particularly care whether a manga’s artwork is created by a human artist or generated with AI, and that the strongest objections may currently be concentrated among creators rather than consumers.Average consumers cannot be careless about that.AI has been growing at exceptional pace this past 3 years.By next 3 year, AI will get so good that a mangaka can generate 19 pages of a chapter while showering. They're only getting started.
>>7848611its always next year but never now, youve been saying this for years. AIs stagnated over the last few years, itll be used but it wont replace art for a while
>>7848611>>7848602I am learning AI. It's just too easy and saves so much time.
>>7848616it literally is now according to that article
>>7848609>while also achieving #1, still only has a 3.1/5 rating.Lol so what? This is more than anyone on here has ever achieved. It's more than 90% of people who try their hands at this achieve, and this guy did it with a fraction of the time spent. This technology is clearly changing the landscape, and anyone still trying to cope is like an idiot back in the 70s refusing to use lightboxes to trace photos, as if taking this flimsy stand would result in anything other than his own doomed obscurity. If you want a chance now and aren't already a great artist, learn AI. Or don't, and watch everyone else succeed and seethe about it in safe spaces.
>>7848611>objections may currently be concentrated among creators rather than consumers. This has always been the case. Consumers don't want clear AI garbage, but when used effectively most of them can't even tell the difference and simply won't care. They want the maximum dopamine experience with the least money paid. Because AI photobashers take less time to learn/create, they will always offer the cheapest products. You'd have to study for 10+ years to be able to create with the same quality/efficiency of a 5 year artist photobashing/tracing AI. Even then the AI guy would probably be faster, pumping out pages at twice the other guy's speed. When you are young and think you have all the time in the world, you might try to shrug this off and cope. But any aging creator realizes the writing on the wall.
Do you guys actually draw your perspectives or you just eyeball them?
>>7848370redid the hatching, you guys think this looks better?
>>7848703also yeah had to edit some shit there, cause i guess i forgot that one of my main characters, just lost a couple fingers
>>7848703Yes. Much better.
>>7848703significantly.
>>7848703Yes, no doubt. But you still don't know how to hatch
>>7847682>>7847697Battle harem but every fighter the mc encounters is trans or a trap and they all join his harem as he beats them on his quest to find an actual female
>>7847819Libido is the enemy. Stop having sexual thoughts.
>>7848162Just do a 4koma
>>7848616>its always next year but never now, youve been saying this for years.Just like all you guys who say you'll start your manga but never do
>>7848698I just make it up
>>7848703You're doing way too much hatching, just draw the figures and use the screen tones to define the form. You can use solid blacks for the darkest areas, but using both cross hatching and screen tones is visually messy.
>>7849178Here, quick draw over the face in the first panel to give an example.
>>7848703I Also sucks at haching and the reason I stopped using it but try to think as if you were sculping light with shadows lines
>>7849178>>7849208>>7849229What he had going works better than whatever these are. There is nothing wrong with combining tones and hatching, that's what most manga do after all, he just needs to improve on his hatching and you do that by practicing. Speaking as someone who's gone through all this and finally had it click after a long time. He's very obviously just imitating Araki's style of hatching (poorly), if he wants to improve at it he just needs to get better at emulating that. He's already getting closer just with >>7848703.
How do you guys handle speech bubbles? I plan to just do the bubble on top and a layer directly under it where I color white under the bubble so I don't have to erase that part of the drawing.
>>7849355the same way you described, though I try to avoid having to draw behind speech bubbles by planning them out first and alongside the first rough outline.
>>7849355You could do that. For me speech bubbles are one of the first things I draw, right after panel borders. I figure out where they need to be in the storyboard/sketch.
>>7849360>>7849362Damn, was hoping there were better options haha. Thanks.
>>7849390If you have to cover up a nice drawing, you already fucked up earlier.
>manga making general Enough fucking around. Let's go. Its mangaka time
>>7849642It would be this https://tapas.io/episode/3749447Or that https://tapas.io/episode/3760908Or https://bunnyseries.the-comic.org/ which is a daily repost of everything.
>>7849636I'm good enough at managing space and I do want the ability to preserve textless versions of pages, I just wanted a less tedious way of doing speech bubbles while accounting for that.
>>7848182Have an ending in mind, 1 volume, 2 tops. It'll make the grind feel like you're making progress
>>7848602Having lived in japan, The japs do not care about AI. They have AI anime signs plastered all over their shops and boards. (Its still slop imo but yeah they dont care)
>>7847966I think this is.......... awesome!!!!!!!!!! Do you have a blog?
Reminder that even the pros have to use 3d environments. This the author of Ajin.
>>7849752Thank u anon that's really nice to hear.. I have sort of a blog in discord (a simple server with no chat channels) - https://discord.gg/fxzRWdGkEM , I'm not sure if it counts but I attempt to post all fun things I do in there
>>7849813Can you give us an example of how you've been making use of 3d in your manga?
>>7849824Me? I haven't used it much, really. Though if I knew how to use Blender better, I would probably use it for almost everything.
>>7848602what's the best site to learn to use AI for manga?
>>7848304Please anon, tell me the ways of a tone brush in photoshop and were to get themI've been painting gray, exporting just the shaded gray (without lines), open, convert to flat/halftone, then exporting that, and adding it into my file with the lines under themBut it's excruciatingly long, and any minor fix require that I do everything all over againI HATE this pipeline
>>7848698DependsIf the scene is meant to be warped and exaggerated (like your pic rel) then I just eyeball it (excellent pun)If the scene is meant to be in perspective but a grounding establishing shot, like from the top of a building to show how big a city is, I try to keep things accurate since keeping things looking like they're in proper perspective gives more of a sense of place.Basically, if it's meant to look realistic, I use grids.
In clip studio can I just find a 3D model of a certain car and turn it in to lineart? Probably mangaka do this sort of thing all the time so I don't feel bad about it. Doing this would save me 10+ hours of work trying to freehand it, plus it would look better than my drawing would.
>>7850013>probably mangaka*pro mangaka
>>7850013you can, though you can still draw over that lineart and improve it/make it fit your style. It won't take ten hours and it'll look better than drawing it from scratch.
>>7849739I think its the same everwhere. Even here in the west you can find AI signs all over the place in trendy areas and marketplaces. They just dont have anime because we're western.I think in japan they don't call anime style art "anime", they just call it art. So it has nothing to do with AI in manga, most people probably feel the same way westerners do: its a retarded idea
>>7849867The AI threads on any given board
>>7849921They definitely exist, but I don't use photoshop so I've never had to find them. Googling it shows me several different ways. That said doing it in photoshop is ass and if you don't know much about tones then it's going to be quite confusing down the road when you're trying to figure out how replicate industry standard tone sheets. Better to just use CSP, frankly. Pirate it if you gotta.
Finish the lower deck for my shitass spaceship. Now I can do some more pages.
>>7850435Finished*
I got really sick over the holiday break, and it's finally over. >>7848703The hatching here is way better. You should move the speech bubble in the bottom panel and make it bigger. maybe just have it floating over the image without a bubble.>>7848698I tend to use a 3d primitive and draw using the perspective ruler it provides. sometimes I make a grid.>>7849813I really want The Pool to come to the states physically but right now it's up for pre-order with a release date of december 2026. Waiting for new seinen launches in the US is actual hell.>>7850013It REALLY depends on the model. Some of them you can extract the lines and use as is. Some require a lot of work to look drawn.
what a slog, but i think it was worth it. i'm on the fence about adding contextual shadows to the girl, I like her sticking out stark white but also cool opportunity for some dramatic lighting.>>7848703its maybe better? the hatching is more consistent in the later but the image was cleaner in the first run, honestly you could dedicate a lifetime to this panel, better to move on. something that im actually really into in your image is the mans hands holding her head, like that is some quality inking if you could get that kind of line quality to the rest of your illustrations you'd be mogging us all.
>>7850461more polished every time, nice>>7850566gorgeous
>>7850566Yo anon, this is gonna sound nitpicky, but I dont see why you need the bed in the background. If there was a page before this that shows her on the bed already sitting, its unnecessary cause you established shes already sitting down in her thoughtsIf this wasnt established and this is like a splash page or a cover page piece or something of that nature, then the bed just looks like an afterthough in contrast to how well everything else is drawn in the composition, plus this page seems more symbolic in nature you dont need that detail to ground it, plus it blends in to the grey so people arent gonna appreciate that detail, even if she looks like shes floating in space without the bed the piece is already kind of trippy.
Like its your manga/comic so you tell me how important it is but without it I think its stronger. Again great piece either way so you can get away with ignoring me if you wanted to, just a thought
>>7850566>>7846394Bro nooooI don't know why but I feel it's fucking ruinedIt doesn't project the same emotion as the lineartLineart was oppressive, and she was like cornered, like the demons have her down and want to get her and there's nothing she can do to stop them, she feels sadThis render, she feels incredibly safe and powerful, and now it looks like she's looking down on the demons, that the demons have no power on her and that she's even pushing them offCompletely different read
Is this true, /mmg/?

>>7851084100 100 emotes
If you had a choice, would you rather read a loliyuri slice of life manga, or siscon romance slice of life manga?
Whoever suggested that I draw on a combined canvas made a good call. I've been drawing the last few sets of pages as 2 pages spreads and It's has really changed how I do things for the better. I like being able to read more of a scene at a time. larger panels come more naturally, so pages aren't being cluttered as much. I'm also drawing faster, since its easier to consider 2 pages as 1. I got both of these done today.
>>7848681there's nothing to learn. The tech will become more and more accessible to the average person than it already is. If you're truly in it for the long term you should continue to learn to draw and work on fundamentals of the visual medium. Then you can choose to add in AI if you need to. So many begs in this thread like this post

Can someone PLEASE show me a software or site with 3d models from which I can trace guns from? Preferably something that gives me total freedom for seeing different angles of it. I can't keep drawing them from observation in every single panel. This sketch alone took me 40 minutes.
>>7853465Defcad? I dunno but if you find it let me know too
>>7853465it would take less time long term to learn to draw than trace every difficult object from 3D
>>7853423Based and goonpilled, will this be in color? Also what's the direction of this comic
>>7853307>>7853043While you're waiting for this tech to be able to do instant manga, others are winning contests by photobashing lora models and other AI assets. In a few years we'll see the announcement of the first animes of award-winning AI-assisted mangas. The people who are learning the tech now will be leagues ahead of you idiotic crabs by the time AI will reach the levels you describe. My predictions for the first big AI-assisted successes are gooner bait isekai or harem manga. AI has the most experience with drawing hot guys/girls, and places like civit.ai are flooded with cute girl/guy lora models. It'll be the easiest to do since most panels will just involve cute girl faces/bodies, and it requires minimum story-telling knowledge.
>>7853535nah, no plans to get it colored. someone on ribbit requested it. originally, they requested Jessie going through breast/ass enlargement from being possessed by some pokemon fusion. It was pretty specific, though I interpreted it as a comic. I have no plans to expand on it at the moment, though I imagine possessed Jessie, Possessie if you will, would get up to some slutty hijinks soon after the last page.thanks for the praise anon.

>>7853465see if CSP has any guns. Also there's this https://sketchfab.com/tags/gun look around for a suitable gun. You can rotate it in any angle so take screenshots and make a sheet.
>>7853544I'm confused, does AI remove the need for skill or does not? Why would they be better than me at using AI? I'll just catch up with AI.
>>7853672I'm using Krita. Sketchfab is what I've been using lately but I can't rotate the gun to the angle I want to, so I need to take a screenshot and then rotate the image, but that usually fuck the quality of the image. I'll try looking for a blender model.

manga making general
does anyone here still have dreams of making it? anyone given up yet like me?
>>7855101It depends on what "making it" means to you. If we're talking about "making it" in that you're a full mangaka working in Japan doing horrible hours with an insane crunchload so that you can die 10-15 years early from stress-induced health issues, then no, not even dingle (pornanon) has "made it" by that metric. Otherwise, you need to think about what it means to you. For some, "making it" simply means having a nice comic that people enjoy reading and tell you that as such. For others, "making it" means getting popular enough to have fan art and cosplay of your characters. And for others, "making it" is getting to the status of dingle/rosenrot anon where they are working with Japanese editors to do some sort of a published release. For me, I just draw my comic for fun. I want to do it, I have a drive to do it because I want to make something, but I don't HAVE to do it. If I start getting instances of cosplay I'll have considered myself to have fully made it.
>>7854698Nice, very cozy.
>>7854576I still feel a bit weird about this one, but let's call it a day.
>>7855243Anon, if you're going to have her wear a tight-fitting suit, then you need to decide whether it's gonna have a vacuum-seal effect or not. The suit is tight around her breasts allowing us to see the contours when a real life suit like that would instead have the material merely have a slight sag to denote the cavity in between the breasts.... but then you draw her crotch area and it's NOT also vacuum sealed which would allow you to see her pubic bone/vagina. Which one is it lol - vacuum sealed or not?
>>7855331It's not vaccuum sealed. It's just a suit similar to a diving suit. I just wanted to show her breasts being squeezed.
>>7855336Oh, I see now, ok. I do think the breast line is a bit thick compared to the rest of how you've drawn her, however.
>>7855357I'm disappointed with it really... That panel was meant to be sexy. I don't know why I didn't change the pose and angle on the sketching phase. I hate it, but I'm not sure if it's worth redoing.
>>7855374I don't think the pose is necessarily bad, to me the issue is kinda the somewhat haphazard/shaky linework. It kinda makes her look a tad lumpy.
>>7855374I don't think it's that bad, frankly, to echo >>7855377, it really truly isn't. You just have to make your lines a bit more consistent.
>>7855374Draw her nipples poking through her body suit.
>>7855377>>7855389>>7855401Thanks frens. I'll try improving her curves. And I'll change her expression too.
I drew this yesterday and I'm probably going to redraw parts of it. It's kind of weak. bottom left panel really sticks out to me after seeing it complete.
>>7855506Looks good, guess her head could be wider
Finished the script for the first chapter, I'll start drawing tomorrow
>>7855374>I hate it, but I'm not sure if it's worth redoingyou just explained in one sentence why most shit that comes out these days sucks. if you think its not good enough then fucking make it right
>>7855575Unfortunately, time is something you have to take into account too, anon. I don't have a deadline, but I'd rather not spend weeks on a single page unless it's truly needed. Besides, I will still try to fix that panel without remaking the whole thing. If I can at least look at it and feel satisfied, then it's good enough.
>>7855575Perfection is the enemy of the good
>>7855581i mean... you could just figure it out before you start all that work. you said you didnt like how the character looked in the panel, but did you even sketch the subject more than once? thats the point you shouldve restarted. composition is a huge part of visual media that require time before the linework and rendering even startyou wanted the subject to be "sexzy" but the composition is mostly flat angled, the subject is awkwardly standing oblique and far from the camera. all that is the opposite of evocative
>>7855575This line of thinking is how you get stuck redrawing the same first two chapters of your story over and over again, and stuck in the same loop for like 10 years.
>>7855628>you wanted the subject to be "sexzy" but the composition is mostly flat angled, the subject is awkwardly standing oblique and far from the camera. all that is the opposite of evocativeI don't understand it myself. I had a completely different image of it in my head. But when I started drawing the page I did a different thing from what I wanted and just kept rolling with it. The same thing happened with picrelated. I wanted to make a really dynamic shot of the ship landing with the camera looking from below, but I just did a flat, boring angle of it. I'll try to notice this pattern next time it happens again to break this habit.
>>7855638I think it's just a bad habit I developed, to go with whatever image I come up with first.
>>7855638>>7855581Nah, you don't need a week, here's a helping handFeel free to trace over it if you want
>>7855506This feels directed better. The original panel wasn't bad, it just wasn't really in the right place. I hate this stupid bottle by the way. I designed a bad prop and now I have to use it for the rest of the story.>>7855652good redline
>>7855653>I designed a bad prop and now I have to use it for the rest of the story. It's your story anonYou are one minor panel away from having an easier prop, just one minor panel with the evil girl saying "I need something more handy/concealed this time..." while pouring into a new smaller bottle and that's it
>>7855653It looks like an ass with a prolapsing anus.
>>7855661Mr Proko I didn't think you had such a dirty mind
>>7855659This kind of object exists in universe but there are contextual reasons as to why Hancock doesn't have access to them. I also don't like getting into this line of thinking. Too many retcons or an inability to dedicate to previously presented elements can complicate things and create a story that's annoying to follow. Bullshitting an excuse for the bottle to be different right now would stick out as an obvious retcon, and wasted page space. The better solution would be to draw it slightly differently and to not even mention the change.>>7855661This. it looks awful.
Im taking too much time in this damn page
Hey can someone spoonfeed me something real quick please. I draw a lot but never tought of making my stuff into a manga. But right now I feel ready to jump in straight away. So if I had tio pick a single resource to actually build a manga in terms of panel, suggestions on how to convey dynamism and that kind of stuff (so not learning how to draw but put your drawing into a manga/comic). Which resource should I get? Willing to pay for the book/course if it's worth it.
>>7855938There's no book that's going to teach you that. You just gotta wing it until you get it.
>>7855938Save your money.Start by making a 4koma. A series of fixed-size panels where you explore perspective and inter-character dynamics. Don't think too much into the science of it, just feel it. What happens to the scene if characters are close or far apart?Once you're confident in feeling dramatic angles you can start messing with panel layouts on regular page sizes.
>>7855938what format do you plan it being in? will the pages be print form or shitty scroller? if its print, what page size do you want? are you drawing digital or scanning paper? whats the genre? different genres use different panelling schemes for dialogue and stuff. you simply need to provide more information
There's always a ton of foliage in my manga, so I'm constantly trying to figure out how to best render it without looking like ass. It's tricky figuring out the right mix of actual and suggested detail and readability.
>>7856203The detail on that drawing is pretty good.Usually what I do if I'm left with no choice but to draw a ton of grass is chuck in some rocks, dirt patches, tree roots etc. Stuff that's less time consuming than grass. Plus it makes the scene more interesting.
>>7856203this looks great, maybe you can create a standard reference sheet for the grass in your game, seperated by region.
>>7848611>By next 3 year, AI will get so good that a mangaka can generate 19 pages of a chapter while showering.will it even need a "mangaka" by that point if the growth is exponential? It will just be a program relying on the algorithm to generate millions of comics/manga of all tastes. I always find it odd people just assume the automation will stop at needing human to prompt and not just do everything automatically, from idea generation to distribution. Humans will just have one job; Consuming it.
Puting the dialogue together with the sketch to measure the speech bubble will save me some time
>>7856289That's the neat thing.It won't.
>>7856517Nobody is reading a story written by nobody.
>>7856289While idiotic crabs like you are coping about the future, others are learning and using the technology now to get ahead. You think the recent AI manga contest winners are just a fluke? This is the opening of the floodgates. Consumers AND corporations have deemed with their wallets that AI usage is fine so long as it doesn't look bad. More and more people will make successful products with AI in the coming years, getting publisher deals + anime adaptations, all while you snarkily cope about how it's all pointless because humans will be flying around in spaceships so why learn how to drive a car?
>>7856752Because driving is fun and its limitations and challenges are what make it fun, are you brown by any chance?
>>7856768protip: don't bother engaging AI baiters. you can't even be sure they're not just a bot to start with.
I heard the best advice for a procrastinigger like myself >Just make it exist you can make it look better latersince taking that to heart Its been so much fun scribbling visuals for what i wrote/planned.Any anons willing to share tips on how to keep the panelling from getting repetitive, i see so much slop on webtoon (thats really popular) and its somehow even more soulless than anything an ai could make.
>>7846542Reminds me of that anecdote about Dandadan's mangaka being forced to read 100 shoujo manga
Reading Gunslinger Girl made me wonder if I should use more blacks. Is it something you *should* do or is it just an stylistic choice?
>>7857327It's a stylistic choice, but I'd argue unless you're very deliberately avoiding them then you shouldn't be afraid of darkening your range of values (ie, use more blacks). My own pages tend to look better when I lean into more blacks with heavier shading, or so I feel.

>>7857478Thanks bro!
>>7857327I prefer more blackspotting. Hell I usually put way more black on my pages than even this. I prefer that, and then just using only one or two layers of tones.
>>7857518Not that anon but I write dialogue in different languages and I'll sometimes ask an ai clanker whats the casual and formal ways of saying certain phrases, or finish all the dialogue and get a human whos native to edit it, best of luck
>>7857642>using AIpathetic slop creator
I think it's coming together allright.
>>7856221Thanks, and yeah I agree. Adding some other objects can help break up the scene and make it more interesting for sure. Another interesting thing I've noted is that it becomes annoying to draw when the grass is relatively close-up, like in my drawing. A huge meadow can be done pretty easily with the right marks (still gotta put in some work on the closest parts of course)>>7856253Thanks, I don't know where you got "game" from, but I get your point. I often use other manga as reference to figure out how to imply details, I even use my older pages at times to see what the hell I did it last chapter.

I was planning on getting my own manga serialized, hopefully this year if things go alright, but before that I have a book I wanted to get published. Since I'm doing the art for the cover and have an anime artstyle, plus put about 3-4 images in it like a light novels has, i was wondering if there was any light novel publishers that took western submissions? I know this might not be the right place to ask this but I don't know where else to go for a question like that.

How common it is for a mangaka to have assistants that are 3x times more skilled than the actual author/have a decade or so more of experience to the point the manga looks visually good only thanks to them? I'm going to start my own one shots and some mutuals on an higher skill level that mog me to no end (I'm little more than a beginner) are willing to help me as assistants.
>>7856811Try not having panel borders in placesMake the most interesting / action moment of a page larger
>>7859304Uncommon on the level of legendary. Never happens.Do it and you'll know why, you are basically an anchor dragging everyone down, or your mutuals would (in good faith) suggest changes at every single page that will be better than what you sketched, to the point that it woud be dishonest to say they are your "assistants" and at that point it's a collab at best, or you are a being carried hard at worst

>>7860410>>7860705I think most people wouldn't bust your balls if you use ai to create generic modern buildings or rocks or stuff. But if your story is about being in a fantasy world then the environments are expected to be from your mind with deliberate grography, so ai wouldn't be cool then. What AIfags dont get is we hate AI because the shills want to use it to replace the creativity for them.

>>7861378did you just post a click bait video you ultra nigger?
Anyone here use manga studio? How is it compared to CSP?
>>7861353you can call it a dictatorship, but that would be more honest than what it really is. America is more like a experimental vassal state for the rootless international banking cartel. Every social and economic injustice that comes from it is purely benign relative to that (yes including the orange man; the global conspiracy existing decades before)
>>7861455Try centuries, if not millennia. Tracing their genealogy goes back easily to Charlemagne, then more loosely all the way to the Phoenician Empire
>>7861140Yeah, at least 5 people who are consistantly working and publishing new things.>>7861237Heh, yeah that's true. I was like this at some point too, something about having too much time leads to classic procrastination.
>>7861423indeed
last double page spread of the chapter. one page left.>>7856203would love a link to your work if you have one. been wanting to read your stuff since your collab entry.>>7861100love the shinso abe improvised firearm
>>7861863final page of the chapterRead right to left
>>7861863Sure thing, I tend to spend quite a lot of time per chapter, so there's not that many of them yet. But I'm getting somewhat close to completing the next one now at the very leastreadpristine.com

I've also reused cut panels. poses from older pieces of mine, and entire characters from older works. I don't really care about cutting corners.
making a weekly to monthly action comic as a one man team is like making a competitive multiplayer game as a solo dev.
>>7860923Nah. AI can't do my style yet. Grok thinks he's a bear lol. And I think any AI would make backgrounds better than I ever could, which would probably be more distracting than anything. My backgrounds are always just a wiggly ground line, and some dots and bumps as rocks or something.
>>7862763No it isn't.
>>7861451I don't, all I know is CSP is the best
>>7861451Isn't Manga Studio just how CSP used to be named?
>>7863091Manga Studio is what CSP used to be, so the code is built over it (which is why supposedly they've had issues optimizing it)
I'm glad everyone is hard at work on their manga.
>>7863654Im not, im just wasting time, watching yt, playing video games, doom scrolling. It's hard to find motivation in this day and age
>>7863654I've been procrastinating for six years now. I'm waiting for the next thread to ask a question in hopes the answers will motivate me to finally start.
