My favourite Americanism is "gotten" and I unapologetically use it all the time.
>>
>>196451168
VGH, its just older english anyway.

>>196450024
You'd hate Kentucky, here people say "I wouldn't care to" to mean they'd like to do something.
>>
>>196449408
>Programme
we use this occasionally on events. like school & TV "programme"
>>
>>196451268
Is it true that "I reckon" is something you only hear in the Deep South? In bongland, people say that all the time.

i kind of like american accents desu the only word that annoys me is "mirror"

>>

its more like mee-ur
>>
>>196451341
What is a "gowl"?
>>
>>196451336
Here in Kentucky it used to be very common but as southern accents/dialects have been fading away due to northern cultural imperialism its mostly heard among the older generation.

The big difference between the upper south and deep south is you'uns vs y'all. If older people say you'uns you're in the upper south, y'all you're in the deep south.
>>
>>196451535
i'll never forgive americans for inventing "faggot". we had our own perfectly fine words for that like "ponce" and "bender". but your TV shows brainwashed our youth.
>>
>>196451671
It's a fun word to say
>>
>>196451671
Not to mention the average British zoomer these days uses "like" as if they are a fucking Southern Californian girl

>So I was like outside and this guy like talked to me and I was all creeped out!

traditional kentucky english:

Mam = mom/grandma
Pap = dad/grandfather
Right quare = somethings off/someones odd
Poke = a bag
Idjit/Eedjit = idiot
Haint = a ghost
Nary = not
Airish = chilly
A-feared = scared
Cattywumpussed = messed up/crooked
Britches = pants
Swanny = I swear
Yonder = over there
Blinds = window shutters
Sodey-pop/dope = soda/pop/coke
Buggy = shopping cart
Fiar to middlin' = you're okay
Gaum/gaummed up = a mess
>>
>>196451954
Nary, blinds and yonder are just normal AmE though? Even britches is pretty widely adopted.
>>
30 years ago saying "pretty good" instead of "quite good" or "rather good" would have been an obvious americanism here. now it's just standard even on the news and shit.

but on the other hand, i've heard american saying "what are you on about". that's so british
>>
>>196451954
>Blinds
everybody uses this what? my parents are from pennsylvania and this is what we call them
>Yonder
nobody uses this but everybody knows what it means
>Britches
same as above
>Right quare
pretty sure this is just the old meaning of "queer" before it got changed to refer to gays
>>
>>196451993
Only Southerners say yonder or reckon, and those numbers are declining. Y'all and ain't have seemingly become mainstream, though.
>>
>>196451993
You dont really hear nary/yonder outside of the south/appalachia.

Blinds and britches, yes, that's normal AmE, though the latter has largely been replaced by "pants" in recent years
