Why is the word 地上波 relevant here? I know what it means, but why not just say テレビ? Are there like special TV channels in Japan that only broadcast with radio waves, and not through cable, and this is why she specifies it?

テレビ refers to all channels airing on TV whereas 地上波 (terrestrial television) indicates channels except for 衛星放送 (satellite broadcasting).
Here in Japan, terrestrial television and Satellite broadcasting are distinguished because you're often required to have a subscription for channels via satellite relay.

When it comes to the Kanto region, major channels called 地上波 are as follows:

An entirely unrelated tree which originated in the pacific islands and then was introduced very early on to India before later spreading across the rest of asia
And which was commonly used for its fragrant oils to make incense, and in the construction of temples and religious statues

栴檀 (センダン) Chinaberry was native widely across south asia and known earlier in China than sandalwood
And so it became the common word for sandalwood in Chinese and is used still to refer to sandalwood in some Japanese idioms
Like 栴檀は双葉より芳し "Chinaberry/Sandalwood is fragrant from two leaves" meaning that it begins to give off its scent long before it flowers
But Chinaberry 楝 is actually not a particularly fragrant tree and the berries are actually poisonous

And, thinking this, he runs and flees,
>借問貧里 欲往傭作

Asking after some poorer village, wishing to go there to find employment

Thinking, "These people have captured me, and now I am surely going to be killed!

Of what use were food or clothing, if I should come to this!"

And should he sweep dung and filth for us, we will pay him double his wages

The impoverished son, hearing this, follows after him happily

Saying, "I have already increased your wages, anointed your feet with oil,

Saying with harsh words such as these, that you must not be lazy,

But also with gentle words, that you are like my own son.

it's a lot easier if you just post the whole page without cropping, because manga doesn't have a narrator we can read, saying "he was thinking this," or "he's referring to that or looking at this"
all we have are the dialog and some thoughts and occasional narration, and most of the storytelling is done through the pictures, so without the pictures to refer to it can be very hard to figure out what's going on
