I was in a mid-sized Wisconsin town with mom a year ago (the town of my birth, in fact) and we separated while she went shopping for clothes. I walked around downtown and there were bars and shops, then I walked up to the river and there were islands with beautiful green trees everywhere, boats going about on the river, people walking on the river walk way. Very nice tbqh, and almost none of the hectic stupidity of larger cities.Once, I drove home from Chicago, where I had attended a concert. For me that's a long drive, and I figured I would pass this way again any time soon. So on the return trip I made a point of rolling past the killing sites of both Dahmer and Gein in a single day. Right in the middle of Wisconsin there's a town of like 20,000 where I stopped, that one was pretty fucking depressing. No colleges, no scenery (a town on a plain), no nothing going on.Gotta be on a river/ocean if you want a major city, or even just a nice town.
