the only place that serves local dishes here is ikea
>>200117848Why are Germanics like this?
>>200115470it was a thing here until 2000s, now Polish cuisine only exists in boomer houses and in an idealized form in "traditional" restaurants in old towns but these cater exclusively to tourists, Poles don't eat there and this cuisine doesn't have much to do with actual Polish cuisine but it's just a fairy-tale-ish interpretation of it.Regular Poles eat predominantly kebab, pizza and vietslop in this very order. Now caucasian cuisine is gaining prominence tho.
>>200115470>>200117907I can't imagine itwhat the fuck?
>>200118018desu I've never seen a real French restaurant here which poses a stark and weird contrast with how this cuisine is hyped in common stereotypes. If random people in the street were asked what cuisine is the best in the world probably like 30% would say French but if asked how many actual French dishes they can think of or ate probably there would be zero (except for frogs/snails but they'd utter that with disgust).I don't know how France did that
>>200117907It's similar here too. Makes sense since our countries' cuisines are similar
>>200118094there are several Bierhalles in big cities here but I guess it's also an idealized version of real German cuisine.
>>200118512It depends on how you understand idealized. German cuisine sold internationally is Bavarian/South German cuisine, which is also not necessarily “local” to large parts of the country. In part it is also because German restaurants sell dishes that Germans also like to eat but are too complicated to make for a simple weekday meal
>>200118070I went to France and their reputation for great food is entirely deserved (except for vegetables, maybe)
>>200115470here>>200115496you don’t have a local cuisine, every thing you eat is either from yuropa or you stole it from neighbouring countries, truly a plague of the region
>>200118705but for some reason we don't see as many French restaurants all over the world as we see Italian ones
>>200117907You're insane. Thats what Poles order but when it comes to making the food, local easily wins
>>200118668>It depends on how you understand idealizedit's not exactly what an average German (or even Bavarian) peasant used to eat in 19th century
There are countries where the local population eats seasonal food based on what grows locally
>>200118736Yeah, but I assume the reason is because French cuisine (or an idealised, "literary" version of it) is synonymous with high-level cuisine, haute cuisine that isOf course actual French food is extremely varied geographically, but then again what you find in Italian restaurants abroad are just snapshots of a much more differentiated framework
>>200118765>duuude, the most popular food isn't the food we actually most commonly order but...something else!!!!
>>200118736The French restaurant tradition is the bedrock of all modern western restaurantsMarie-Antoine Carême and Auguste Escoffier defined how a restaurant was supposed to work At a certain point French cuisine just became generic and so there was no reason to open French restaurants when practically all of them were already French restaurantsFrance is the god of cuisine and restaurants
