Minced meat wasn't common until the end of the 15th century as there was no cooking utensils for grinding meat the process of making it by hand was labour intensive. It had to be hand-chopped which reduced the meat to either small pieces or mush. The cuts of meat were also nowhere as fatty as today's industrially bred cattle, meaning minced beef would not stick together as well as it does today. Making burger patties would be challenging, if not impossible. For pies pork was often added specifically for the extra fat it added, meaning a medieval burger patty would likely be a pork and beef mix just to stick together on a pan.If a fantasy world adheres to the same basic rules for cooking as our own, a burger in that day and age would be almost impossible. Not to mention iceberg lettuce being an American cultivation not available at the time, nor any ketchup or tomatoes, both of which also came from the Americas.
