I live in a small town. I know only a few hardcore alcoholics but MANY habitual drinkers who are functional and professional but after work and on weekends they drink a fair amount. Once after doing some tutoring I noticed the kid's dad swaying a bit with a beer in hand. Another day I walked in to see the guy making an Old Fashioned lol.

Never in my town.
We had the local alcoholic who always sat on the same bench, but he died from cancer.

For some reason he knew a LOT of other tramps so there was always some other drunkard or two with him on the bench, singing and draining a six pack every day. But when he died they all stopped coming and now it's quiet.
The city council removed the bench and replaced it with a bike rack. I think probably because the local supermarket didn't want to risk another alcoholic making it his all-day bench.

I recall his name was Sofus and he died at 58, because he got a notice in the local paper.

Alcoholism. Probably some depression and other underlying mental heath issues.
>>200135321
Still in my twenties. Probably need to cut down soon or this shit will kill me in my thirties-forties. Then again some seasoned finnish alcoholics tend to hang around suprisingly long.

Usually 2-3 drinks (sometimes strong) on Friday. Occasionally Saturday too.

Just the kind of thing they bring if you have no lovedones. "Worked at the butchery from 1998 to 2012, cremated and laid to rest in the paupers graveyard. Survived by no family or relatives".
>>
>>200135740
where do they scatter the ashes?
>>
>>200134391
I spot 5 finns
>>
>>200135788
They cremate and put them in an urn, then the urn is buried in a section of the graveyard that has no individual markers. It's just full of urns and one big stone that says something like, "rest in peace those that come to lay here" or whatever Danish equivalent.

A gravestone, burial and grave costs money, so if you have no family to pay for that you get the cheap seats and get forgotten.

my favourite pasttime is watching the homeless counting pennies at the bottleshop and seeing if they'll have enough for a 40 oz. sometimes I make bets with my buddy

such is human life, eh?

If you spend every day drunk on a bench that's probably the best end you can hope for.

doctors here are not good for mental problems (or anything really) and pills are only time bomb for overdose attempt again
