Private alternatives are the cause for the waiting times though. The public system can't compete with the private in terms of wages for doctors and surgeons so the public system doesn't have all the staff they need. This is why private alternatives should always be banned completely if you want to have a public service. If you want to have private ones then there's no point in having a public one at all because it will be shit if there are private alternatives.
