Does the police of your country send out local alerts via news outlets? What is the most common kind you tend to see, if so?Here it's always one of two things:>1. "Car crash on (motorway/highway), expect queuing and delays up to 1 hour. Rescue services on the scene, mind your speed">2. "Karsten, 89 years old, has walked away from his retirement home at (address) around 4:50 Monday and is now considered missing. Presumed dead from falling into a bog".
No, the DOT does that

Only for traffic incidents. The transportation ministry has Twitter feeds for the most populated regions, and the cops also have a radio in Santiago. In the case of highways, the company that has the concession sends out alerts too, mostly on Twitter. Anyways, the information gets relayed so you don't need to pay attention to 9999 different feeds, just tune your local news radio.
