>>
>>200198521
My mum was a low-tier public administration worker, my dad worked in a factory. Nothing special, things were just gradually improving. We lived in a small town tho, in big cities it could be dangerous sometimes, more robberies and pickpocketing.
>>
>>200198521
Bach then we lived in one of the baltic states, my parents had an import-export business running, buying materials from russia and selling it to europe

same thing in spain when franco died, robberies skyrocketed and the cities became much more dangerous, people getting mugged at daylight in the 80's etc
>>
>>200201333
Why didn’t Franco have a successor lined up?

Dad was an artillery second lieutenant blasting Serbs. Mom was pregnant with me first half of the war. After the war, dad (mechanical engineer) went into IT because the industry went to shit and mom was mainly a housewife and did some occassional side jobs. I went to kindergarten and have sparse, but good, memories of the period. Our first president as an independent country died in 1999 which stuck with me, I still remember the initial news broadcast.

What was your family's experience with the war? Do they still talk about it?
>>
>>200201826
What an idiot
>>
>>200199911
Because the biggest Russian patriots always live outside Russia, preferably in the US, which is surprisingly main Russia's enemy, but Germany is also hostie enough so a true Russian patriot could live there and love Mother Russia from distance.

War was bad, obviously, my city was close to the frontline and was often bombed and had periods of no water and no electricity. It became normal for kids to play on the street and then run to basements because the alarm sirens sound off the next minute. Dad didn't talk much about it, he shared some bad memories and that was it, I never got the impression that he regretted his role, but I got the feeling that he regretted that the war happened in the first place. He died of an unrelated disease in the 2000s.

In the late 90s, it was an extremely common topic, there were missing people, leftover minefields, mass graves being found in random places. Nowadays people mention it less and less, even though it's still a topic sometimes, especially among nationalist politicians, but it depends a lot on personal experiences. I'd assume that some Istrian who was far away from the frontline and had no family in the war never thinks about it now. A lot of people ended up with PTSD, both soldiers and civilians, and for them, it's often still a daily topic of conversation. As for my family right now, we don't really talk about it anymore, it was almost 30 years ago.

Sounds much like Ukraine now. I hope they will be able to recover like Croatia did
>>
>>200201463
he did, it was the monarch Juan Carlos (father of the current king) but Juan Carlos was bought out by CIA and Henry Kissinger and gave way to democracy. CIA also orcheestrated the Green March of Morocco, in order to secure Morocco as allies in the cold war against communist-aligned Algeria.

CIA may have also orchestrated or helped in the assassination of Carrero Blanco, who was a "Spain first" kind of guy that wanted spain to develop their own nukes during the last days of Francoism
