日本語Youtuberのおすすめは?ホロライブじゃないよwI'm trying to find interesting stuff to watch, but I can only find very surface level, popular content. I don't want to watch just anime, either, because I want to be exposed to more natural speech. My Japanese is probably incredibly broken, but I'm working on it.

>>203648848Thank you. I didn't know there is such a difference between with and without "away".
>>203648238when i was embarrassingly browsing through brainrot videos, i came across this channel that does these witty wordplay puzzles. some of them are pretty easy some of them not. https://www.youtube.com/@TheEzzShow/shortsmaybe you can get some inspiration from there.
>>203648954Why cant I into grammar?I can read all the words but the meaning I spit out is usually wrong
>>203650337you have to take a closer look into particles then, that way you can discern what a word is doing in the sentence and then puzzle it all togetherそんなに<-adverb (because of に, そんな is a "na-adjective" and に makes it an adverb)私が<-subject(because of が)恐ろしい<-predicate(maybe it's clear but also remember only 名詞/形容動詞(nouns/na-adjectives) and 形容詞(i-adjectives) can finish a sentence)の<- sentence ending particle for explanations. Also used in conjugation with questionsかしら<- sentence ending particle denoting question(feminine usage)so try to look up the uses of a particle you're having trouble with, you can also ask here.
>>203650337Japanese is very, very different from European languages so it just takes a while for our brains to grasp it properly.Input and output as much as you can to speed this up a bit. Just practice Germanon, you'll get there.
>>203650337I get how its a struggle but at some point the way Japanese is structured just becomes easy to follow. I don't think it was anything but repetition for me.I recently looked around for resources I missed in the past 3 years where I basically only did stuff on my own, and I checked out these jlab grammar decks, which seem they could be helpful when you're very new.https://www.japanese-like-a-breeze.com/guide-for-beginners/For some reason this deck is set to romaji by default. But you can disable that in the options.
>>203650337And it some people will probably hate on this but I do think for a beginner really struggling to parse sentences, this guy on youtube is not a bad watch. Don't expect it to be enough to actually remember all the points, but I think it might help to learn to parse sentences correctly by following along.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-mM8nauJV8

Those women were pushed into iron-made container and delivered to soldiers as "The supplied goods of the fifth sort.">In October, 1992, South Korean sex worker Yun Geum-i was sexually assaulted and murdered by U.S. Private Kenneth Lee Markle III. Yun was found dead with a bottle stuffed into her vagina and an umbrella into her anus.[4]>No Gun Ri massacre. 400 South Korean civilians gathered at a bridge were killed by US forces, mostly women and children. “There was a lieutenant screaming like a madman, fire on everything, kill ’em all,” recalls 7th Cavalry veteran Joe Jackman. “I didn’t know if they were soldiers or what. For example, Korean women were used as dollar earners and these women who sexually serve and get exploited by the American soldiers have to do this because of various reasons, you know, economic is the primary reason.">"[at 6:52] I think American people should understand what kind of life these Korean women has after they marry an American soldier and come to the United States because from what we know about 80% of them end up with the divorce and many of them are battered and some of them are even killed. We know that there are Korean women who are hospitalized in mental hospitals or who had work in a massage parlor and because of the abuses that they get from their husbands after they go to the United States.">Korean Comfort Women and US Military #1 https://youtu.be/xOMDwsKvjVI?t=452 https://youtu.be/Yhn8ouGAxXQ?t=412

>Korean women and sex slave history>Korea provided Korean concubines to Mongol men. As with all parts of the Mongol Empire, Goryeo provided palace women to the Mongols.[24] Korean concubines were procured by the Khan.[25] Korea sent Korean virgin girls to the Ming dynasty. Joseon sent a total of 114 women to the Ming dynasty, consisting of 16 virgin girls (accompanied by 48 female servants), 42 cooks (執饌女), and 8 musical performers (歌舞女).[84][85] >Korea rounded up Korean women and sent them to Japaense military brothels. Koreans acted as subcontractors for the Japanese comfort women procurers in WWII. Koreans were not only involved in the recruitment of women but also in the management of the comfort stations themselves. He gives the example of China’s Jiangxi Province, where “16 comfort stations opened in 1940 and half of these newly opened comfort stations, and two of the restaurants, were run by Korean proprietors.”[6]>Korean government is one big pimp for the U.S. military. A group of former prostitutes in South Korea accused some of their country’s former leaders of encouraging them to have sex with American soldiers, and taking a direct hand in the sex trade from the 1960s through the 1980s. “Our government was one big pimp for the U.S. military,” one of the women, Kim Ae-ran, stated.[25] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Military_and_prostitution_in_South_Korea

Hi DJT. I bet you get a ton of posts like this, so sorry in advance.I've been studying for about a month using immersion + anki, and I'm worried about my kanji retention. Are there some complimentary isolated kanji study methods that people here like to use?Specifically, there are many words I'll recognize through perhaps one radical per character and a general knowledge of what is in my anki deck, and when I encounter them in the wild, I don't recognize them or confuse them for similar characters.I assume this is fairly normal, but some kanji just click with me and I don't have to guess and it makes everything involving them much easier. If there was a simple way to incorporate some quick isolated kanji study as part of vocab anki + immersion, I suspect that'd make both immersion and new vocab easier for me.Earlier today, I started reading the Kanji Learner's Course just to see what it might do for me, and while their suggested exercises seem like they'd eat up a lot of time (and probably should be avoided), I think it helped to just read the mnemonics for some of the kanji that I'm already familiar with. For context, I'm pretty busy with work and only get about 1h of immersion a day, and anything else I do would likely eat into that time. Also, is it just me, or is the default kanji font in the ankidrone deck kind of bad? The horizontal lines are so thin that I have a hard time counting the number of horizontal lines when there are like 3+ of them close to each other, especially when components are squished horizontally. I find the normal computer fonts much easier to read. Can I change the fonts somehow?
>>203736812>just go and説明するのはちょっと難しいけど、「just go and」には「勝手に」みたいな意味があると思うぞ。 少なくとも、使い方が大体同じ。>>203736944>Are there some complimentary isolated kanji study methods that people here like to use?No. Dont memorize Kanji memorize words by reading.
>>203737019>No. Dont memorize Kanji memorize words by reading.I worry that I'm not really memorizing words properly. I infer from context. The kanji are slippery to my mind so I can never be certain that a word I encounter is the right one so I have to infer.Supposedly, this is how people with reading difficulties cope with reading (at least English) and it's suboptimal. Maybe it'll go away with more exposure, but if I practice the wrong skills (inference rather than truly recognizing the words), isn't that potentially bad?I want to be able to see a word or kanji and know if I've encountered it with certainty. I'm not looking to memorize readings or meaning, I already get that from the vocab practice.Source:https://www.apmreports.org/episode/2019/08/22/whats-wrong-how-schools-teach-reading
>>203737404>I want to be able to see a word or kanji and know if I've encountered it with certainty. This comes with time.I started out learning like 5 years ago and I've gotten to a decent, conversational reading and speaking level and i'd like to offer some advice if you'd like to hear some. Here's the thing:You can read a hundred books on how to ride a bike and they might be helpful. You can learn how the pedals work and some advice on how to balance and that might be useful. You can even do drills where you pretend to hold the handlebars. But until you actually start riding bikes you probably wont get very far. For me, language learning has been the same. I wasted 2 years on books and drills and gained almost nothing. Other people might benefit more from reading books than i did. Or might benefit from isolated kanji or vocab drills more. But personally i only started to get anything resembling a decent understanding of the language once i forced myself to use it. I changed my phone and PC language to Japanese and consumed a lot of Japanese media. It was fucking awful at first because i understood jack shit and had to re-learn how to use my devices. I retained knowledge ONLY from inferring meaning and correcting mistaken inferred meanings. Once you see a word so many times in similar contexts it sticks. if you stick with it, you'll notice improvement pretty quickly.Im not trying to talk down to you or anything. I dont have a degree in linguistics and im not a teacher. if you're genuinely gaining good value out of vocab or kanji drills then keep going. But from my own experience, until you're willing to get on the bike and deal with pain of scraping your knees a bit you wont get very far.TL:DR?Stop studying, start reading. Learn words, don't learn single Kanji at all. You're should be aiming for language proficiency not kanji proficiency.
now then, let's play wordwolf to practice Japanese? ;3https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=021kC4FTBSE

>>203738829>you just need to input, broMy point wasn't you need to input a bunch it was that you actually have to practice doing the thing you want to be able to do to get good at it. That includes input, output, speaking, writing, listening, all of it.Also why does his forehead end halfway across his scalp jesus that hairline is vicious. Poor guy.

I have decided to learn JapaneseI'm not really interested in speaking Japanese and I mostly want to read itWhat are some good sources of listening practice material?I don't want to bother with pitch accent but is there something I can do as a beginner, for say, 20 hours or so, which will make it easier for me to pick it up naturally?
>>203744547>What are some good sources of listening practice material?Youtube videos about topics that you have an interest in. Even better if they have Japanese subs.
>>203744736Yeah but I mean when I have 1000 or so words
speak about ankishould i skip quickly or memorize it completely in singleday?
>>203744825just look up unfamiliar words you encounter using a dictionary (physical dictionaries suck so don't bother with those). it will be painful initially but do this for long enough and you will look up less and less until you don't need to look up anymore.
>>203744825If you'd like (or anyanon else), I'd transcript any video as long as Japanese is spoken in it.It would benefit me too since it's in my spare time and it should refresh my mind.
>>203744547You should watch videos aimed at learners that are using simple vocabulary. If you just watch some random videos as a beginner you wont understand anything and they wont be helpful.
ドラゴンボールを日本語で見たいどこですか?Preferably with Japanese subtitles or no subtitles at all. The ones I have found have english subtitles embedded.
>>203744736>>203745565>Youtube videos about topics that you have an interest in.>just look up unfamiliar words you encounter using a dictionaryI respectfully disagree.I would say that method only works for learners who have vocabulary enough to some extent to catch up what a speaker says.Based on what the Australian anon has told us, his Japanese vocabulary is so limited that it can be tremendously hard for him to look up unfamiliar words without Japanese subs.

>>203748126what would you recommend?I'm in a similar boat. finished jp1k and am now contemplating mining native material or if i should start the infamous 2k/6k deck to make it a bit more comfortable to read native material.
>>203748407I agree but I am specifically looking for original Dragon Ball with kid Goku. All of the rips I find have English subtitles embedded but I want only 日本語 subtitles or no subtitles

I assume this ties into reading from before so you're looking for voiced material with accompanying text. A lot of shows have subtitles released with them on streaming platforms these days, games are often voiced and even normal Japanese TV has a lot of text on screen at times, although a lot of people can't stomach to watch this.>I don't want to bother with pitch accent but is there something I can do as a beginner, for say, 20 hours or so, which will make it easier for me to pick it up naturally?Watch some videos I guess and then don't ever bother again for the next 3 years. 20 hours seems overkill. Also I thought you didn't want to speak.
