Slavery is still legal in California and they voted to keep it.
>>
why change things if it works?
>>
>>204358878
Do these retards not know that it only pertains to community service for felonies and misdemeanors, or are they deliberately omitting that? The opposition probably didn't submit a rebuttal because it's not even a controversial thing.
>>
I bet the pro argument was really faggy
>>
>>204358878
The Californian economy subsists on quasi-slave labour from illegal immigration. This is why Democrats are so desperate not to end the illegal immigration pipeline.
>>
>>204358878
criminals deserve it
>>
>>204358878
isnt that a democratic state?
>>
>>204358878
im enslaved and its not too bad
>>
>>204360085
Overwhelmingly so.
>>
>>204358878
There was an identical ballot measure in Nevada and it passed by a blowout margin, so I guess all the Californians who would've voted yes moved there.
>>
>>204360085
california is an unusual state in the amount of ballot proposals that get voted on
so while they vote for democrats, they also vote for limiting property tax increases which just make democrat policies harder to enforce
direct democracy at work
>>
>>204359243
unpaid labor is not a just punishment for any crime
>>
>>204358878
I recall the dalit Indian caste stuff was also stopped some time back
>>
>>204358878
How else are they going to keep running Silicon Valley?

Rare Californian W
>>
>>204360573
Agreed. Death is the appropriate punishment for severe crimes, not unpaid labor.
>>
>>204361510
I wish exile was still practiced as a punishment.
>>
>>204358878
>Slavery is still legal in California and they voted to keep it.
Because it's a choice to become a "slave".
>>
>>204358878
>>204360085
Democrats still true to their roots, I see
>>
>>204361459
these guys aren't working in silicone valley, trust me.
>>
>>204358878
It’s why their gdp is so high
>>
>>204362053
Who else would work in tech in California than literal slaves?
>>

What part of the world would be the designated land of exile?

Judges just overrule the props they don't like though so in the end its not really democracy
>>
>>204360573
>someone damages something
>making them fix it is unjustified
???????????
>>
>>204358878
If i saw it on a ballot i wouldnt vote for it if i wasn't absolutely positive how they're defining slavery desu
>>
>The enlightened progressives also endorse slavery
Shocking nobody
>>
>noooo you can't compel inmates to work in the cafeteria of the prison they're kept in that's LITERALLY slavery, anyone who supports this is basically Hitler!

Nobody believes this except overeducated retards, which is why they voted against it
>>
>>204365283
They're not working within their own eco-system though or for the state in some "work to pay off time" deal
They're doing menial labour for 3rd party companies where only a few benefit
Being underpaid or even not paid at all to instead get "experience, exposure, a promise of skill training" etc is a raw deal
Being in chains and corralled is worse
I have never heard a judge declare that somebody be sentenced to 400 hours working unpaid for Mr Goldberg and it certainly isn't community service when he ensures non of his earnings go back into the community
>>
>>204365390
California already has a ban on private prisons and laws against prisoners being rented out to private third parties like happens in the South. The worst job Californian prisoners do is fight fires, but my understanding is that it's actually an in-demand role because it comes with relatively high pay and privileges and so it's fully volunteer. Beyond that, it's all making desks and license plates and shit like that for consumption by the California government or odd jobs involved with the internal upkeep of the prison. Nobody thinks that's slavery.
>>
>>204360573
Of course it is
>>
>>204360573
What do you think a fine is?
>>
this is because of intense n and homeless fatigue because they made shoplifting legal and theft is so rampant. Nobody gives a shit about criminals and everybody wants revenge
>>
>>204360573
shut the fuck up
stop talking, stop voting
fuck off
>>
Slavery was never legal in the Netherlands. And we still did it because the colonies were owned by corporations.
>>
>>204359933
The big question is if those roles will then be properly automated or if prices will just increase from lack of migrant labor. Because no native is actually going to work those jobs. Not at the wages they offer.
>>
>>204358878
These are probably the same voters who doesn't support women's suffrage
>>
>>204366537
This, for the Skull Throne.
>>
>>204366537
>Nobody gives a shit about criminals and everybody wants revenge
Good, let's go after the enablers that allowed it to get to this point. Then the pets won't have any owner to hide behind from
>>
>>204358878
