Sausage is a sausage. Hot dog is a sausage in a bun. Sausage not in a bun is not a hot dog. Why is it so hard for some people to comprehend?

Not replying directly but yes I saw that thread and remembered that americans sometimes calling bunless sausages "hot dogs" bugs me a lot

>>204392524
Thus I want to clarify that I'm on the side of the German in that case. There's also pig in a blanket
>>
>>204392524
hot dogs are a distinct thing
>>
>>204392450
Its only if its a hotdog sausage/frankfurter. If it is a different kind of sausage on the roll it isnt a hotdog
>>
>>204392773
Yes. But would you call a sausage without a bun a hot dog?
>>
>>204392971
I can't explain why but your words drive me mad
>>
>>204392979
If it was a hot dog.
>>
>>204393047
I'm not a violent person but I bet Pavel would break your skull if you said this to him
>>
>>204392450
It's not a sausage, it's a Frankfurter. It's named after the Imperial City of Frankfurt, where Charlemagne was saved by a white doe that showed him the way over the river.

hotdogger
>>
>>204393109
Frankfurter huh.
>>
>>204392450
Not all sausages are hotdog ones.
Wieners from Vienna can be more meat in them than burgers in mcDs.
>>
>>204392450
Excuse me.... I'm an expert for that matter...
The Hot Dog was created by a German businessman as Dackelwurst, even if it never contains dog.
So, technical speaking, as the German term "Wurst" means "Sausage" in English, every Hot Dog is a sausage.

The more you know...

Italian sausage goes in a bun but we don’t call it a hot dog
>>
>>204393021
Otherwise its called a sausage in bread
>>
>>204393195
And if you put a wiener in a hot dog bun together they become a hot dog.

>>204393221
I agree with you.

We have a sosiska v teste or a "sausage in dough" which is a sausage baked in dough rolled around it. A bit controversial dish but generally liked.
