Did you know: that flag, the flag of Europe, was originally designed in the 1950s for the Council of Europe, which is a non-EU institution (pic related, every country in blue is in the Council of Europe).

The EU just decided to adopt the same flag 30 years later, in the 1980s.

Therefore non-EU European countries can fly the Flag of Europe because it doesn't necessarily mean they're in the EU.

>The executive arm of the European Union approved €300 million (US$317 million) in funding for five joint defense-procurement projects by member states, the first time the bloc uses its budget to finance common defense buying.

>The European Commission will provide €60 million for each of the items on its shopping list, which include the Mistral short-range air defense system, IRIS-T SLM medium-range air defense system, armored vehicles and ammunition, it said in a statement on Thursday.

>The joint-procurement mechanism is a new step in the 27-nation bloc’s attempts to become a more credible player in defense, in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and amid concerns about Europe’s reliance on the U.S. for security. The EU in March presented its first-ever defense industrial strategy, and this year created the role of defense commissioner for the bloc.

Hello Sven, please send me some snus, thanks
>>
>>204541768
it's a small step, but a step in the right direction nonetheless

>The EU has set out targets for member states to buy at least 40% of their defense equipment together by 2030, as well as spend at least half of their procurement budgets on products made in Europe. The commission says the benefits of joint procurement include economies of scale, better interoperability between EU countries’ armed forces, and larger contracts that will strengthen the European defense industry and allow it to adapt production capacity to the continent’s needs.

We don't even have enough men to staff our ships, we are the weakest country in the EU by far. Such a shame. Hopefully Russia doesn't pull any shit here or we are fucked, even if we are irrelevant.
>>
>>204543791
yes, Ireland is completely dependent on the UK for defense
which is fine for Ireland honestly, Russia lacks the power projection to attack you and the UK/NATO is easily able to protect you from any potential Russian attack
but considering your size and wealth, you should definitely be doing more, drop your stupid neutrality (?) and contribute to the joint effort. Same story for Austria, but they aren't *as* naked as you when it comes to military.

Good point. Our Royal Air Force does use some Airbus planes like pic related.

There are other close-knit communities out there. But if you like Islam then go for it.

that's an A330 MRTT, very good tanker aircraft
the UK uses the A400M too, that's a European co-development between Germany, UK, France and Spain
>they stupidly painted it in white with a UK flag and gold lettering, because they like wasting taxpayer money.
yes, I hate that too. the German air force does these stupid paint jobs a lot too, I'm sure each of them costs thousands, but then we don't have enough ammo or proper upgrades for the aircraft.
anyway both the UK and Germany rely too much on American weapons imo, we should take an example from France and seek to be more self-reliant in Europe, that takes an effort in the short term but provides benefits in the long run.

R*ssia doesn't want to be part of Europe. They even renamed Europe Square in Moscow to Eurasia Square.

And those other ones you mentioned, they all have some territory in Europe. Some of the ones you mentioned are wholly within Europe (Switzerland, Albania, Bulgaria)

True. I have met young Europeans in the UK, both at uni and at work. I had a lot in common with a few of them which I guess isn't surprising since we all find the same stuff on the internet these days.
