How do brown people view christmas? How do countries that arent christian or of cultures that are based around christianity view christmas?

I see many brown people and these non-christian/Europeans celebrating christmas and its kinda weird. How do you celebrate christmas when there is no snow, you have no history celebrating it and santa is white?

Seeing East Asians celebrating christmas is wild.
>>
In which part of the bible does santa and his reindeers appear?

nowhere, but christianity has for at least 1800 years been mix of European paganism and judaism
and yule is very pagan but still strongly linked to christianity. You do know that yule is counted as religious thing here and schools cannot really push it since it would go against muslim/atheist feeligns?
>>
>>204746180
this is just pandering for westerners
UEA HATES everyone that is not ISIS
>>204746202
Lebanon is formerly christian but yes I would say that to celebrate yule you need to
1. be non-brown
2. be from christian background (yes Sven, you are of christian background no matter if your father wasnt part of the church)
3. live in a country where there is SNOW
>>
>>204746210
what is your background

Santa claus is based of the historical character saint Claus from turkey who gave money to poor whores and children.
>>
>>204746213
also on radio pretty much all of the Finnish yule songs are hymns or Jesus songs
even those children songs I know that Svens also sing since most of these are just copied from Svens

In the Philippines they start playing Christmas music in September. Your ancestors were forcibly converted to Christianity just like their ancestors were. What’s hard to understand?

mom gypsy, dad jehova's witness. Though my parents dropped religion all together when I was like 5 years, and raised non-religious.
I was already used to celebrate nothing but new year.
>>
>>204746360
>Your ancestors were forcibly converted to Christianity
bold statement which is not even universally recognized as a true statement. Its most likely not even true since its been researched that the old story of catholicism coming here first is not true.

the most violent stories about this are nowadays regarded as some weird catholic propaganda that really did not work the way they thought it did
>>
>>204746377
ah yes, jehovas witness
do they go door to door in America as well or is that reserved for mormons
>>
>>204746490
>do they go door to door in America as well
yep, they do it here as well, though not as much as they used to.
>>
>>204746360
Then Christianity would be the best religion because it's the only religion on Earth that can forcefully convert people.
You can't force people to change religions. Communists tried it, and people reverted back to their previous religions when the current government collapsed. Yet Christianization continued after the Fall of the Roman Empire because nobody wanted to give away their livestock to a thunder whose stories were about fucking other wives and daughters.
>>
>>204746140
Because we don't obsess with race anon, Christianity is a world religion, it doesn't matter if it's snowing or Santa is white. Because it's more about the Christmas spirit of giving and wishing, and Saint Nicholas can hear everyone's prayer. But it ain't a thing anyway. Christmas is now an excuse to sell overpriced food and beverages and for people who drink themselves to death. It's fallen off from its original purpose.

Christmas is pagan

the real gods...

christian culture already prooved that lots of pagan traditions can live together with it and my culture really cannot be separated from protestant christianity given the fact my language exists today precisely because of protestantism and by that alone it also defended the same pagan traditions we know today

Every country that westernized and had first world enclaves as their capitals are Crypto-Christians by default, because their morality derives from the British Victorian era. China derives their morality from a German socialist, Japan derives their morality from America/Britain, as does Thailand, any adherence toward original Buddhist morality here would make everyone laugh at you for being so backward.

Jupiter, Terra Mater, Mars, Apollo, Aurora, Ceres, Bacchus, Artemis, Neptune, Venus, Vesta, Pluto, Minerva, etc.
>my culture really cannot be separated from protestant christianity given the fact my language exists today precisely because of protestantism
What do you mean? I didn't know that
>>
>>204747721
exactly and given that you did this for very shallow reasons makes it very CRINGE and HUMILATING
at least Europeans converted mostly through kings converting and then pushing it to the populance etc. Whereas in Asian countries it was just some weird cultural victory
>>
>>204747636
Paganism was already proven false and was dead for good reason. Human society developed so much that we no longer mystify nature but seek to control it to our benefit. Nobody believes that the sun is a chariot or seasons happen because a goddess got depressed, and there is no point in sacrificing livestock when monks can teach you a crop cycle and modern farming/refrigerators mean you can make fruits for all years long. Which is why Neo-pagans had to come up with Bullshit New Age spiritualism instead.
>>
>>204747758
>Jupiter, Terra Mater, Mars, Apollo, Aurora, Ceres, Bacchus, Artemis, Neptune, Venus, Vesta, Pluto, Minerva, etc.
those have nothing to do with me
>What do you mean? I didn't know that
the reason reformation was very popular with the masses was because protestants held sermons in the langauge the populance spoke, they translated the bible in to a common language (the church dogma was that it has to be latin and if you want to read the bible you need to learn latin, which the common man will never do).

the first things written in Finnish were ABCkiria (the ABC-book) and se wsi testamentti (the new testament). Both written by a Lutheran reformist Mikael Agricola, whose accounts about pagan gods and traditions we still read today. 60% of the words he invented are still used today, such as the words for violence, thief, fatherland, government, conscience, hypocrite. The day of his day, we celebrate the Finnish language day. The same story can be heard from many of these smaller nations.
>>
>>204747769
>Humiliating because we can adopt good things.
You are literally talking like browns; this is how Africans view religion, they think Christianity is bad because white men brought it to them.
Europe adopted cats from Africa, chicken from Asia, wheat from the Middle East, and potatoes/corn from South America. Thailand didn't adopt this because the Europeans forced them, and neither did the Japanese, because both wished for the creation of a state where everyone could partake in the government. It proves rather that Christian morality is true and loved by everyone.
>>
>>204747885
everytime I hear about Asians converting to christianity, its always very pathetic story
like Koreans converted because it was seen as culture war against the Japanese and state shinto...and then they also started to cut boys penises off which they just adopted from America. Showing that its some weird cultural victory for Americans, nothing really organic
>>
>>204747867
>those have nothing to do with me
Worship your Gods it's all good
So do you think there's no way to reconstruct a neo-religion with the ABCkiria words? If you still read the stories of the pagan Gods then they're already in public consciousness.
>>
>>204747780
I disagree. If anything I think that nature worship is more relevant in the modern day. Modern science is erring on naturalism. Even with modern technology there are still crop failures, or wild fires, or hurricanes and great storms, etc. The point of worship can be compared to wishing for good luck, but for different aspects of life and nature.
>>
>>204747940
yes, Finnish paganism would be really hard to reconstruc without just completely making up a new religion
>>
>>204747914
That's not how most Christians in Asia converted. One of the biggest reasons was because missionaries gave them the opportunity the old social value and tradition didn't allow them. Women convert to study in school, men convert because of the political awakening making people realize that old religion is despotic and tyrannical; Sun Yat-sen is the best example. And many missionaries earn lower-class converts because they often embrace the outcasts of society, which many turn out to be unappreciated geniuses, which is why most Christian churches in non-Christian countries are seen as elite networks. The Catholic University in Thailand is a symbol of luxury and the upper class of society.

Arabs are less than 10% of the population, so i suspected he might say it doesn't count and it's done by/for the white expats/tourists, which is exactly what he did.

>How do you celebrate christmas when there is no snow, you have no history celebrating it and santa is white?
Are you aware that Christmas is literally just Jesus Christ's birthday? Why do you worship a coca-cola mascot?
>>
>>204748014
Crop failure and wildfire became a norm that people deal with regularly with technology. Crop failure in modern time has a very tiny affect; in fact, during the COVID period, many farmers gave away and dumped over a million tons of products because they couldn't sell them in time. Nobody worships gods of potatoes, corn, and cattle, RW larping Neo-pagans focus solely on race because modern people think religion is a political tool and not a philosophy of cosmology
>>
>>204746140
Hot christmas is based you day drink, play sports and eat cold meat all day then pass out at 7pm
>>
>>204748150
are you aware that nowhere in the bible is there a word about christmas?
>>
>>204746140
Christmas is just saturnalia, since they needed to replace the pagan holiday and they don't know when Jesus was actually born
>>
>>204748199
People celebrate Winter Solstices in Israel, and the Gospel of Matthew recognizes it as a divine intervention that helped people survive by shortening darkness, and since Jesus birth came at dawn, it makes sense to use the day for his birth.
>>
>>204748174
I think religion is a philosophy of spirituality. The examples are just examples of the various events in life and nature. Thinking about a wine party as being the embodiment of the God Bacchus (or whatever wine or harvest God you're considering) is a way to make spiritual the event in your life. From there making festivals and stuff becomes a spiritual event for people, which already happens with holidays. I don't care about race.
>>
>>204748217
Seasonal-related holidays are shared by people of the same climate, including ancient Israelites. Christianity didn't take saturnalia because they already had their own celebration. The Jews also celebrate Hanukkah during the same period.
>>
>>204746140
In Russia only chuds and old pipo celebrate orthodox Christmas (5th of January). We celebrate New year instead but its copy from westerners.
>>
>>204748378
Then you have to realize that ancient paganism is full of taboo, rules, and rituals forcefully observed by the state. The reason you are free to interpret these deities as being merry and open to you is because there is no pagan priest or pontiff council to force their interpretation and law onto you and the whole society.
>>
>>204748456
well we celebrate christmas AND new years

It is a mandatory public holiday here. In Malaysia, mandatory holidays are Aidil Fitri & Aidil Adha, Chinese New Year, Wesak Day, Deepavali, Christmas and Hari Gawai (Sabah & Sarawak only). Every major religion gets one. Malls will cycle through festive decorations almost continuously throughout the year.

Lmao I remember back in school everyone is supposed to bring a small decorated christmas tree. So like half the school corridors used to get filled with those plastic trees, looked kino. I have only once celebrated a white snow christmas when i was abroad, pretty lit.

>The reason you are free to interpret these deities as being merry and open to you is because there is no pagan priest or pontiff council to force their interpretation and law onto you and the whole society
Maybe that's how it was in Thailand but in for example Rome they didn't care as long as you gave offerings (they contributed as taxation). New mystery cults popped out all the times and new gods were continuously added to the pantheon.
