>>215122768>what are you using?I have a bunch of dictionaries in Yomitan that show it, both dedicated pitch accent dictionaries (like NHK's pitch accent dictionary) and some J-J dictionaries that have pitch accent information as well. In pic related I've enabled a bunch of them for demonstration purposes, I don't usually have this many of them activated. 報われる is a separate entry with its own pitch accent indeed. 報う is predominately (by far) shown as 中高 but one dictionary lists 平板 as also being an acceptable pattern, so maybe that's part of the answer. For phone apps, Takoboto has it listed as well.

>>215158423Imagine being Japanese and having dyslexia.
>>215167007I think it's probably less of a problem in Japanese because words are generally less confusing. Western spelling is utterly retarded and the pronunciations are completely made up and only get more retarded over time as the written language remains the same and the spoken language drifting in many directions around the world.Individual kanji may be difficult, but you're probably not gonna confuse 大 and 犬 in context. The pronunciatons also feel more consistent.https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0010027799000165Seems to suggest the concept of dyslexia is pretty much unheard of in Japan, but I am not sure how much I would trust it based on 読み違い seeming to be a thing that sometimes happens with non-dyslexics too whereas I would pretty much never misread a norwegian or english word in a million years if I have read it once before and my dyslexic friend will misread words he has read thousands of times. It may just be completely ignored as a disability, but a Japanese better chime in on this if they know anything.
>>215167007dyslexia is a farce caused by malnutrition
>>215167286Dyslexia is not just about spelling and it's not english only since it can also occur in other languages. The underlying issue may be the latin script instead, since the article you posted suggests that that on character for each syllable is easier to read than what happens in latin scripts.

Just out of curiosity, do you want to tell me English words in which sounds, letters, or syllables were transposed over the time? For example, the Japanese adjective 新しい was originally pronounced as あらたしい [aratashii], but as time went by, the positions of ら and た changed and now it's pronounced as あたらしい [atarashii].The same goes for the following words.>秋葉原>あきばはら [akibahara] -> あきはばら [akihabara]>山茶花>さんざか [sanzaka] -> さざんか [sazanka]>舌鼓>したづつみ [shitazutsumi] -> したつづみ [shitatsuzumi]
>>215169641Yes—this process is called metathesis, the transposition of sounds, syllables, or letters within a word. English has plenty of examples, some of them fossilized in standard vocabulary and others surviving only in dialects.A classic case is bird, which comes from Old English brid (originally meaning “young bird”). Over time, the r and i swapped positions. Similarly, wasp derives from Old English wæps, with the p and s later inverted. Third was once thrid in Old English, and that older form still lingers in “thrice.”In Middle English, horse sometimes appeared as hros, showing an earlier metathesis of consonant clusters. The word ask has oscillated between acsian and askian since Old English, and the “aks” pronunciation survives today in some English dialects.Even modern words reveal metathesis in progress: many speakers casually say comfterble for comfortable or perscription for prescription. These aren’t mistakes so much as evidence that English phonotactics still reshuffle sounds for ease of articulation.
>>215169510無理難題、スウェーデンは弟みたいな存在だ>>215169641>>あきばはら [akibahara] -> あきはばら [akihabara]I need to delete this card holy shit, I keep telling myself its akihabara and then my card says akibahara which makes sense because of akiba, but my brain insists its akihabara.I can't think of any words specifically so I can't help unfortunately.I guess specifically is a good enough example of badly written words. Most people (except for maybe brits?) will say specificly, not specfically. The A only adds confusion.

Looking for some advice, I've recently decided to move from the US to Fukuoka fairly soon like within the next few months. I have enough money saved up to last a few months and I have a passport. Additionally my remote job will allow me to continue working there as long as I have a US bank account and permanent address to receive my paychecks.Biggest issues I see right now are getting a long term visa and finding a place to live. I'm a software engineer and I would probably try to find a new job at a japanese company that can sponsor my visa but I can imagine that would be very hard. As for living spaces, I was looking into foreigner friendly sharehouses as an affordable option while I scope out something long term.Has anyone here moved from the US to Japan before? Any tips for either the long term visa or housing? Hopefully I'm in the right spot to ask about this
>>215182100If I recall correctly, there's a special visa for foreign home office workers. I think you can stay three months with it, then leave. So waht people do is leave to South Korea before the three months run out and renew their visa.
