After about a year I am finally seeing the genius of the Jap and Chinese languages using moonrunes. It's so much easier to learn vocab when you already know the underlying characters. Of course Jap ruins it with it's retarded pronunciation, but overall still a very good system.

I just finished my uni midterms.Since my last time here, I completely paused language learning to think it through at my own pace when I have free time. That time is now. I tried to find side work and make money as I study but I couldn't secure ANY kind of job/income. I am giving it one last try. I don't think I'll find a way to make money, so I will certainly go back to language learning.Last month I received an email that the Classical Arabic academy opened and they started tutoring. I checked 3 lessons from each module and it was BRUTALLY awful: Extremely religious and chauvinistic teachers, monotonous teaching, the students were ultra-religious too, gender-segregated student groups, and everyone was addressing each other by "My brother in Islam." and having Facebook-Boomer vibes. It felt like a really low-budget cult, and I felt extremely bored so I refunded it.This short detox period made me more mature. I no longer consider irrelevant languages (e.g., Russian, Japanese, Hindi, Urdu, Turkish, Hebrew, Persian, Mandarin). Anything too niche or too hard is a no.If I do decide to start German in 2026, I’m almost certain I’ll stick to German only.The last thing I want to say is that a person close to me told me I have an analysis-paralysis problem where I do not take action until circumstances are perfect and this extended to everything I do (uni, etc.). For instance, I would sometimes avoid attending an exam that I won't ace because I always wanted a perfect grade but they forced me to study normally and attend, and things actually worked out.In that context, if I decide to learn German, I will just fetch the resources I already have and use them immediately and not wobble in perfectionism.

I'm doing chinese reading to get my vocabulary up and the author uses a few idioms, should i save those or only learn usueful idioms (like ones used in podcasts and tv shows)?. For context its kind of a literary book so the tone is rather philosophical so i feel these idioms i wouldn't use in a normal conversation unlike: 骄兵必败,全神贯注,etc.
