Why is it that when listening to music, I can't understand the words but when I read the lyrics, I can hear the words and understand? I fucking hate this sometimes. My reading of Spanish has far outclassed my ability to listen and speak and I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I feel more comfortable reading content than listening or speaking. I can speak okay but the issue comes up when I have to listen and then speak back.

Languages without articles might be onto something. The more I study languages without regular use of definite and indefinite articles, the more I find it a chore to add the article when translating it into English. Do I really need to specify that it’s “a” nice shirt when there’s no need for the context that an article provides?
