Since I am back to suggesting Arabic, all cards on the table:
I feel scared of the critical period pill and that I have become 26 and thus too old to learn a new language
So if I put that effort into the two languages I already speak I would get so good everyone would say I am articulate whenever I speak.
It's a good goal overall for me, and I use English and Arabic every day.

Thinking about what to dabble in next, my available options are:

Why not Japanese if Russian in on the table? The grammar is probably just as difficult as in Japanese, the script is easier in Russian, but only because of kanji, kana is easy, you can still focus on speaking and listening, and write and read at a slower pace, and pronunciation is much easier. I don't know about the word order, but in Slavic languages, and in languages with cases in general, it's not very strict.

In comparison to better established languages in western linguistics, so the major Indo-European, Uralic and Semitic languages, Japanese actually lacks any "really good" (or just good) resources. The vast majority of resources that do exist are often compiled by amateurs, babbified by not using le scary "jargon" or providing explanations beyond surface level and are often experimental (though this can work out sometimes), basically they end up being held back by their creators either not having enough expertise or wanting to handhold newbs.
This leads to such resources often refusing to directly acknowledge the 6 用語 forms, instead using made up terms of convenience like "masu stem" if any at all, giving simplified and therefore vague explanations of particles' functions, never mentioning verb pairs, unbound/combining noun forms, not giving even an outline of pitch accent, etc. etc.
Imagine opening a Latin textbook, just to be given vague explanations of noun case, paradigms, maybe get a mention of phonemic stress being a thing if you're lucky, and Latin scholars just telling you to "read moar then u will understand" instead of actually providing explanations, that is how it is sadly, maybe one day there will be a competent resource that isn't locked away in some dusty university library unscanned hence not available online either
So it seems that this happened from a combination of Japanese not having hundreds of years of study like languages peripheral to Western Europe and Japanese learners just learning the language through 50 gazillion hours of input without ever using any real grammar resource + anybody important can just get tutoring bypassing either grammar study or mass media input

tldr nobody competent wants to waste their time writing good learning resources for le weebs who end up brute-forcing through sheer input anyways

Do you guys have any advice for balancing the study of multiple languages? I've been learning Russian for a while and my comphrension is very solid, I'd say I'm about B2. But I'd also like to learn french, and have been putting more effort towards that. Should I just keep doing Russian for say 20-30 mins a day to keep it alive in my head? I've basically decided that these are the two languages I would like to be fluent in, and I'm still in my early 20's so I'll probably be studying both of them for the rest of my life. Just hard to beat the feeling that I'm "quitting" despite having a very functional level of russian in daily life. Any advice on these feels???

Anyone else writing poetry for fun in whatever language they're studying? Recently I've become obsessed with trying to write the perfect haiku about swedish spring. I'm not sure whether to take Swedish or Norwegian. Swedish seems to have more good old movies, but a more difficult pitch accent and supposedly more difficult pronunciation (according to AI), while Norwegian is a hell of a dialect, but surprisingly, it seems to be more popular in Poland because I've seen more learning materials (or any).
There's also German, but when learning a language, I read about the countries where it's spoken, I look at what people are saying online or what memes are popular, and I really struggle to avoid being prejudiced. I've written about this before here. So maybe some brak from German things will be good for me and Jordie doesn't learn the language anyway.
French and Italian are also cool, but I am irritated by the situations in their countries and how some things are resolved and that they are no longer the same countries as in the 90s or 80s
