Because it feels very odd to me, that in all the timelines, JAST is becoming bigger, releasing more things including releases that everyone considered never to happen with the Nitro+ library, Shiravune has been picking up the niche products and even the mainstream stuff we ordinarily do not get.

NN needs to work better on translation in my opinion. They seem to get good titles, but sometimes do not just rely on the straight and narrow for their works. MG i have hope still for even a Moege or some small Appetite titles at the very least.

It's because the girls never got what they wanted. MG's choices for localizing are baffling to say at least. No one asked for these short 18+ otome and comedic yaoi. The girls aren't going to throw money at them for anything with otome/yaoi label on it.
Look at how well Aksys and other otome publishers are doing, they've been consistently putting out 5-6 otome games on switch for some years now and just announced a bunch of them for 2025 too.
JAST also got some good yaoi titles with their Chiral and Pilslash partnerships.
MG simply doesn't understand the market very well.

From my perspective, I see the Otome/BL market as oversaturated, which explains why MG is not going to target it, as they were burned very heavily during the VN boom when they licensed out an expensive Moege in Bokuten and did not see much ROI so they will play it safe with titles and go for niche releases that are interesting with hopes of some being a cult classic than aiming for expensive ones.

Also It makes total sense that an Asksys can do the huge releases because they are a larger company with various games under it's belt and they are pivoting towards a broader market, as is JAST because they have the money to do so and can afford it if some games do not sell within expectations where MG, NN,SP can not. But like I said above, there is so many licenses right now with Otome/BL and some romance stuff in LN/VN that it makes sense for those who are within their niches to not chase after it and to make one or two releases instead as it will reach it's up-down cycle. Than something that is going to be stable and keep providing ROI as a whole. Even as a Lollicon/Harem guy myself I acknowledge that the best i am ever going to get is maybe one or two licenses are year because currently it's on a down cycle unless the market needs to play it safe.
