Isn't Yumemi the smartest?
Ño~
>>48057230>>48057236The greatest minds of Gensokyo are homosexuals
>>48057230>>48057236The greatest minds of Gensokyo can't stop competing over its men
>>48057585Both of those women have cute girl assistants whose job is to just look pretty and one of them would murder for the love of her lifeNone of them ever show even a hint of interest in men
>>48057633Is deppresing to think that the majority of 2hus would not even be interested in some random guy.
>>48057640Stop being 'random' then. Become the guy.>>48057230>>48057236I want to put forward another candidate!
>>48057726>Stop being 'random' then. Become the guyIf I become someone interesting, I would be rather be alone. You know, when you get everything you wanted, you suddenly stop desiring company.But... doesn't these two look truly cute here?
>>48057824>If I become someone interesting, I would be rather be alone. Can't fault you for this one. However...>You know, when you get everything you wanted, you suddenly stop desiring company.Remember that for some people 'company' often is included in 'everything wanted', particular or not.If all interesting people were loners, you wouldn't be seeing them cute together, after all.
>>48057876You might be right. It is just that I always thought that intelligent people always decided to be alone, but even so I have seen that is not always the case. Do you know about James William Sidis?
>>48057898>Do you know about James William Sidis?Well, now I do. But when looking for geniuses that needed company of others to stay afloat, I often think of John Stuart Mill instead.
>>48058022To keep it simple. Sidis fell in love with a girl, but that girl rejected him and he sadly died alone. Is a history that makes me wonder what went wrong with the life of someone so intelligent. I would have done so much to be as intelligent as him.> I often think of John Stuart Mill instead. You are free to tell me about what you know, I am listening.
>>48057236-Was tricked by a youkai hag-Was tricked by a vengeful spirit-Needed the princess to point out that Junko was working with someone elseThis woman isn't anywhere near comparable in intelligence or sexiness to the professor.
>>48058276Oh my, that's one erotic strawberry.
>>48058043John's father, James, wanted an intellectual successor for his and Bentham's philosophical thought. John was successfully taught multiple languages, arithmetics, physics, economy and astronomy before age of 20. Considered genius by early XIX century standard. However, around age of 20, John went through mental breakdown, deeming all his effort and skill pointless, since even producing 'just' society, as his father intended, wouldn't make John personally happy. After few months, with help of his companions and poetry, John concluded that making other people happy is enough of reason to feel joy. He changed utilitarianism from hedonistic, darwinistic ethical system into more society oriented one and made contributions to contemporary philosophy of science and libertarian thought. Lived for sixty-six years, at age 45 marrying his love after 21 years of acquaintance. Life well lived, all in all. But if not for the others, it could have went much poorer.
>>48058312Her genius manifests in many ways.
>>48058332It sounds like a cute story, thanks.
Your genius is my wrestling buddy, dude
Invented the peak character, and then never acknowledged her existence again. What did ZUN mean by this?
>>48058631Can't improve on perfection. Also, ZUN didn't want to deal with the headache of including Christianity.
>>48058276You know, I know is a fictional franchise. But I have seen cases where intelligent people, and I mean, in IQ, fail in something else or miss things that should be easy to understand.
>>48058793It's kind of a pattern for Eirin.Hell, the only reason she's even on Earth was because she decided to give Kaguya the super forbidden medicine that was so forbidden that the last person who drank it is still kept prisoner in the Lunar Capital and a huge part of their society revolves around doing penance for that "crime".But anyway, OP said "smartest", not "most intelligent", and common sense and social awareness is a big part of being "smart", so Yumemi is certainly better than Eirin in that regard.
the biggest thing is that she comes from the future. imagine all the sci fi shits she has>handheld magnetic monopole cannon that can destroy planets
I learnt the other day that she makes a cameo appearance as the final fight on the Extra Stage of Malice Eater, a 2015 bullet hell published by Amusement Makers (the same doujin circle ZUN belonged to when he made the PC-98 games).Seems pretty niche - not even the wiki has much information about it. Still, it's probably the closest she's ever getting to a second canonical appearance - not terribly far off from Reimu, Marisa, and Yuuka showing up in Seihou, at least.I appreciate that, because she's preceded in the stage by the Hi-Beion from Seihou and the SMD-31-FX1 from Samidare, there's the implication that she's just harder to take down than a futuristic combat mech and an even more futuristic warplane
>>48059466Huh, nice, I had never heard of that. How is her fight like?
>>48059770Don't know if there are any videos of that part exclusively, but there are a few of the entire Extra Stage. This should at least go to the beginning of her specific parthttps://youtu.be/YVL1cFEElu8?t=332She even brings in Chiyuri for one attack.
What sort of professor do you think she is? Or was, I guess.
>>48063173She still is! Just because the pretentious retards at the academia kicked her out doesn't mean her title is invalid!
>And, you kept sayin' things like "it's religion that will save the world" and stuff, prof.>And what's wrong with that? It's the truth, isn't it?
>>48057230Is she a time traveler or is PC98 Gensokyo in the far future?
>>48057230If she's so smart then why isn't she the main character like Reimu and Marisa?
>>48067091Reimu and Marisa aren't exactly the smartest. If the main character is too smart, she would immediately solve the incident and there wouldn't be any game.
>>48067129The main characters are the smartest because they are the main characters and get paid the most.
>>48067138Then why is Reimu poor?
>>48067151She plays a poor character. The real Reimu is rich.
>>48067158I don't believe it, she's not good enough at acting for that.
>>48067026I don't think that there's any way to answer that with certainty, but given such song titles as>A Dream Transcending Spacetime>Sailor of Time>Winds of Timeand that Chiyuri's title is "Resident of Fantasy That Runs Through Time", the implication would seem to be the former. Though you could just as easily argue that this just means that PC-98 still takes place in the future, and the "time" motif is just pertaining to the difference in advancement in the way that one might feasibly throw such words about when discussing contacting a stone-age tribe.
>>48067026There's no time travel involved they're just larpers
>>48063591Well, you do stop being a professor when you're no longer employed as a professor...That doesn't mean she's not smarter than all of the other "great minds" at her university combined, mind you.
>>48067729She was kicked out for a reason after all
>>48078655What did Renko do to deserve this?
You think you can attract Yumemi with strawberry perfume?
>>48078748She's too smart for that, you'd need to at least have real strawberries.
>>48067026Probably from around the hifuu era considering Yumemi mentions a Grand Unified Theory being a thing and in Hifuu they mention the same thing as being recent.
>>48081701I don't think that that necessarily implies a similar point in time, just that Hifuu takes place first, though they're probably not too far off.If we generously assume Windows lore regarding the barrier (or at least the date of isolation of Gensokyo) applies retroactively and that Rikako has any idea what she's talking about, then her claim in her ending that the pair's technology is about 500 years ahead of her own suggest that they come from the late 2300s or the early 2400s.Those assumptions aren't the most well-founded, but we don't have much else to go on to establish even a tentative year
Why would a professor use crosses? Is she a B̶e̶l̶m̶o̶n̶t̶ Christian?
>>48094455I always assumed she was one given her very positive outlook on religion.
>>48094566Huh, thats interesting, seeing that line in retrospect seems jarring with how anti religion ZUN seems like nowadays, but then again, Hifuu is a thing that exists. Maybe the anons that said that shes a time traveler from Hifuu were onto something other than magical shrooms.I really need to get around to playing Dimensional Dream, its the only PC98 game that Im actually interested in trying, because of Yumemi and Strawberry Crisis, but man Im so lazy to set up a PC98 emulator and get the rom... And no, this is not a reverse bait for you to spoonfeed me, I wouldnt have the time to actually play the game even if I wansnt lazy.
>>48063173My headcanon is that she was a physics professor specializing in theoretical physics before she arrived in Gensokyo. After that, she started developing the field of thaumatology, which her peers thought was completely ridiculous.
>>48094455picrel is Ellen's win quote against her, so make of it what you will
>>48096171For someone with memory issues, Ellen sure is knowledgeable
>>48096248the exchange the two of them have right before their battle is probably my favourite single bit of dialogue in any game in the series>Oh, one last thing.>>What?>What's "science"?>>It is a method of justifying the laziness of mankind.>That can't be right! That's what sense, logic and laws are called.>>......
>>48094712Please do play PoDD, it's honestly a fantastic game.Setting up the PC98s has never been easier thanks to the TH98 Experience Pack!https://nyaa.si/view/1743332I think one of my favorite things about PoDD is how it is all organized around the idea of dreams and wishes, something that sadly has rarely been discussed online
>>48100686Its been ages since the last time I saw someone with your attitude on 4chan.As I said, I dont have much time, but just because of how well meaning and how much of a nice way of approaching you had I will try to cram some of it on my day to day routine.Youre too good for this place anon, I hope you dont become jaded like I did.
>>48101229That PC98 pack was made by someone here in /jp/, and it has been recommended in the past to people wanting to set up the games, so it's not like I'm the only one sharing it. It's a great resource. Thanks, and if you can do play it. PoDD can be a lot of fun, but the story also is top tier. Yumemi is a very interesting character... Reading her dialogue makes me feel like she lives in a world she hates; a world where most people are stupid, senseless and abandoned any kind of hope and dream. But she desperately clings on to the hope of finding magic; isn't that a dream? She has pursued it for all of her life: magic, a dream, the unknown. But she lives in a world without it. Can you imagine how painful that must feel? It's played a bit for a joke, but in Chiyuri's route I feel like she's genuinely devastated at her impossibility of using magic; the fact that she still fights on and even tries to bring the knowledge of magic to the academia that ridiculed her, eventually leading to her being kicked out of it. But see, even though they're a bunch of ignorants, she still tried to bring magic to them. Not only for her own satisfaction; she wanted to bring magic to the whole world, in order to save it. So, even if life (and 4chan) makes us jaded sometimes, perhaps we still should try to bring the good things to people. Even if they reject it and make us mad, I think we can take Yumemi as an example of someone that won't give up and seeks to create a better world. Even if at the end we as individuals are unable to do it, at the end it might be worth it if we helped at least one person. ...Well, at least I think Yumemi is an incredible character. Even if she tried to destroy the world.
>>48112358PoDD sure is a good game, ain't it? Several characters that, if you dig in throug the humorous dialogue, have interesting worldviews and wishes. Wish fulfillment type plots really aren't common as they used to be, huh? Its like even in media, people cant find the strength to convey at least a hopeful message, which is rather unfortunate since a lot of games, even modest ones, are bound to shape individuals to a degree. That, and the game itself is a fantastically thrilling back and forth, although its not the most balanced in the world. Thankfully, if you like Yumemi, she's very good, both as the iconic, diffiicult opponent that she is, and as a character with her crosses working wonders on the AI. As a special bullet, the AI has a hard time recognising it and dealing with it, leading to higher potential of lucky fast victories.
>>48112358The world distruction part was probably a joke
"Mystical mad scientist tsukkomi" is a hell of a combination of words
>>48114490A mad scientist obsessed with magic, no less.
>>48118052>>48114490Repeated steel chairs to the head have taken their toll on the young professor, she keeps talking about "bit-coin" and a chain made from blocks?Really, someone should stage an intervention.
Professor, look out!
Yumemi has been fired for sexual misconduct with a student, this is now a Chiyuri thread
>>48129131>sexual misconduct with a studentWhat she did exactly?
>>48129131Why can't physicists just follow social norms?
>>48131344Something something common sense in Gensokyo.
>>48134154But she wouldn't have been in Gensokyo at the time?
>>48134190She went to Gensokyo, then came back and got fired, right?
>>48134253Something like that.
>>48134190Also, what in the everlasting fuck are those AI hands?
>>48134256So then she left her common sense in Gensokyo.
>>48134266That's why ZUN killed off PC-98, then. Can't have Gensokyo with common sense, so have to do a reboot
>>48058332"Genius," but then you look inside and it's all just aristocratic amount of employing dozens of tutors.
>>48134260That's from a beginner who couldn't into perspective.
>>48136699She has two pinkies!
>>48138928That's the index finger from a wrongly cupped hand.
>>48129131Slander made by magic deniers. to ruin her reputation (even more than it is already)
To be honest Chiyuri is the hardest character for me to understand in PoDD. All the others seem to have a defined wish, dream or aspiration but Chiyuri has very little clearly defined beyond her respect for Yumemi.
>>48148056I think he also wishes for magic but sometimes seems to do things just for the thrill, and might also be a bit worried about leaving Yumemi unsupervised.
It’s time…
>>48158244But professor, it's still almost a month untill December...

Glasses or no glasses?
>>48202545Either way is fine!
What do you think happened to her after PoDD?
>>48207082Chiyuri's route is the last in chronological order. She's stuck in her world since Gensokyo's Chiyuri sneaking in her Hypervessel caused an energy imbalance. She's frantically researching for a way to visit Gensokyo again.
>>48207082Yumemi Okazaki, now age 21, was recently arrested on account of sexually assaulting Mr.MousThe defendant claims it couldn't possibly be sexual assault as the victim gave several signs of consent, presenting used black hoisery with the sperm of the victim as evidence, as well as showing "obvious signs of infatuation for her". These signs are currently being evaluated.A witness of the scene prior to the alleged rape, Miss Asakura, claims that Mr.Mous simply praised Miss Okazaki's choice of beverage, claiming strawberry milkshakes are his favorites as well. Other witnesses then claimed to have heard moans and other noises in the bathroom of the bar the two were currently at.Furthermore, Miss Kotohime's investigation of the defendant's home, as well as evidence from the university she teaches at support the claim of Miss Okazaki possibly suffering from mental illness, with reports of her wishing to throw an ICBM at those disagreeing with her on the existence of magic and the Grand Unified theory. The jury's decision hasn't come yet, but it is expected for Miss Okazaki to get 3 years in prison, with an obligation to seek therapy, and to accept the restraining order forced upon Mr.Mous.
