Alright boys, took me two years with break but I finished all VN that have Scadi involved. My approximate ranking:Excellent: Nijuuei, MoekasuGood: MoekanDecent: Tousui Kitan, Ikikoi, Himanatsu, TsuiREBad: OG TnS, Nijuubako, Moeten, Supreme Candy, Subahibi, Sakuuta, SakutokiTerrible: Diagnosis, H2O, TV no Kieta Hi, kotokieRating as a writer: 5.5/10My brief impression of Scadi as a writer is that he showed a lot of potential early in his career, but his momentum died down after Moekasu and that was unfortunately the beginning of the downfall. In particular, Scadi “kamige” Sakuuta and Subahibi completely failed to live up to my expectations, both being total slop that drags on endlessly for no reason at all. None of his works will make my list of favorite VN, but I found Moekan and especially Nijuuei charming and memorable. Not that they are perfect, Moekan suffers not only from being perhaps too long, but at the same time it is incomplete, and what was a relatively interesting setting is left largely unexplored despite Moekasu's Kaori (remake) route working as Moekan's grand finale (end with bait for the sequel, and more questions). That said, it's still a very charming experience and I've had a lot of fun reading it, so I'm inclined to overlook its flaws.Nijuuei is... kinda special. It came out about a year after the very amateurish TnS and is much more polished, both in terms of writing and production. I think Nijueei has a lot of charm not only because of its rather unique setting for a VN (early edo) but also because of its simplicity, something that is directly portrayed through the main character. The MC isn't a saint or has a particularly extraordinary "大義". Basically just a man who lived through the blade for nothing other than his own survival as a person who exists within the boundary between life and death because of a curse that have been haunting him from birth. A swordsman who has killed hundreds and honed his skills for one reason only: to survive. Yet that even someone that killed through his whole life have other possibilities, making our live worth living. It's very simple, and are themes that are covered in most of Scadi's work, just much more digestible and genuine in a setting like Nijuuei in my humble opinion. As for the story itself, it is a mystery story set shortly after the end of the Sengoku period with an emphasis on history, classical literature, martial arts, and some fighting scenes. The atmosphere can be very tense, but also very atmospheric. The MC really takes you, the reader, on a journey across the island. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12Hz8ENb9cEThe story has heroines, but it's hard to call them a route; it's a story that focus mainly on the mysteries surrounding the MC and the island with a definitive single ending regardless of the "route". It's a work of passion, with many qualities that don't take too long and respected my time. For that alone, it's better than most of his work, really.Alright. In short, I don't think I regret the investment, but I won't claim that Scadi is a good writer considering I found a good majority of his works to be average. I don't know exactly what happened after Nijuuei/Moekan, but it's disappointing.Now that the journey is finally over, I'm ready to change horizon.Is there anything you guys would recommend? Does anyone know how to enable music in Hotel Ergriffen? It's not voiced, but the image has enhanced audio and with AIMP I could rip the 11 BGM files. I can't figure out how to get it to play ingame though. Having the image mounted nor using compatibility modes works. Patch 1.01 is applied.
