>>48065909Is that ugly and completely teenage girl supposed to be Harukachan? A crime if so.Also, love Kawai Yuumi, but can't see her play as Yumi (just like the other two with Kiryu and Nishiki).
>>48067962She's not ugly, it's fucked up if she's not an adult and she's not Haruka.

Reviews for the Like a Dragon show and every impression I've seen basically confirmed what I was expecting: it's a middling story that seems to use the source material as a veneer over everything and honestly doesn't even do a good job at that. The fight scenes are pretty underwhelming and apparently telling all your actors not to play the source material is a BAD decision, who knew?
>>48068843The director should make his own original yakuza show without using the franchise.
>>48069225As an RGG fan, I would love that (the original game has been rehashed to death already). However, most RGG fans would hate it, I assume.
>>48065909>>48068843Is it out yet?
>>48068843>telling all your actors not to play the source materialwhat? japan is using the hollywood playbook now?
>>48069508Isn't it an adoption? They need to keep the core elements. If it's going to end up as something that has nothing to do with the original beyond the names then he should make his own original show.

>>48068843I watched it this morning, couldn't even get past the first 10 minutes, it's shit.
>>48021776Just read the news. Very sad.His conversations about the bills and receiving fresh Melon are absolute classic comedy in Doctor X.
>>48068843I think they made it clear that this adaptation won't be exactly like the games so I'm not that disappointed, but yeah the problem is that I probably wouldn't have watched the 3 episodes if it has nothing to do with the franchise and familiar characters. I wonder what non-RGG fans think though. Some of the fight choreography is pretty shit. The costumes, Kamurocho etc. are great. I don't like that I don't even recognize some of the characters until they say their names because they made them so different Shimano KEK
Daigo dressed as Matsumoto for Sake no Tsumami
>>48072838Daigo is based. Him often making fun of Macchan is one of the funniest shit on tv lately and I bet Macchan is laughing at it too. Also, Katoge looked very amused with his cosplay (he's a close friend with Macchan).
>>48072838Enako's bulging tits were distracting.
>>48068843>not to play the source materialThis seals the deal, I'm gonna watch it. I was on the fence because I thought it's gonna be a 1:1 adaptation and I've already played the game and its remake a number of times, but I'll watch it if there are new story/characters elements.

>>48074569>>48074599it's funny how they can't have a japanese-themed show without hiring a partly japanese person or else its muh cultural appropriation so they have to dig up weirdos like this "jewpanese" loser to attach their name to itsame shit with shogun's rachel kondo
>>48065909I want to see Arata Natsume no Kekkon's adaptation, how long does it usually take for Japanese films to get eng releases?
>>48074707If it's gonna be released on Netflix, then around early 2025, otherwise you'd have to wait for fansubbers who may or may not be interested and may or may not take longer than Netflix if they ever pick it.
>>48074599>Jewpanese
>>48072838This guy is unfunny
>>48068843I've said this before in a previous thread, the RGG characters are too iconic. No actor can truly replicate their charms, even in Miike's two RGG films everything was bad and were only saved by Miike's direction style. This drama in particular is offensive, no one is even trying to act like the original characters. After watching episode 1, the only good things about this adaptation are v-cinema & yakuza flicks veterans Kato Masaya and Kunimoto Shoken.
>>48072838The true successor. Both Macchan and Shimura Ken would be agree.
>>48074599eew
Yokoyama's tenure so far has been a disgrace to RGG. Nagoshi would have never let this happen.
>>48076517Many have said that.
>>48074599I don't think this semen-slurping adaptation is for me.
>>48074857I see, thank you anon
>>48074599I thought the jews feared the samurai.
I support /jptv/ threads. It's a good idea since there are tons of Japanese TV stuff that pass under the radar.

So it is basically worse than the Jew Journalist series. HBO at least hired good directors for some of the episodes.
https://news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/9413befdaf9df6397bad2c44a1dc151f3319f1dbhttps://cyzowoman.jp/2024/10/post_488840_1.htmlhttps://www.nhk-ondemand.jp/goods/G2024141203SA000/In the latest NHK Special about Johnny's, the sister of a now deceased Johnny's idol, Ryo Nakatani, talks on the phone with the director in charge of compensating victims. Her brother wrote a tell-all book in 1989 which revealed how he was sexually assaulted by Johnny Kitagawa and continued to suffer from the trauma of it, though similar to Kouji Kita's account of sexual violence at the hands of Johnny, it was largely overlooked by the media at the time. After his sister requested an apology and compensation on behalf of her brother she was initially told they would accept her claim and Johnny was the one completely in the wrong, but a while later she then received another call where she was told the company doesn't want to give money to someone who published a damaging book like he did. The company later told NHK they have no policy of rejecting compensation because of tell-all books. Then in a recorded call with the director in charge of compensating victims, his sister asks how they plan to apologize, to which he replies he doesn't know who should apologize and for what, that the company severely looks down on the matter because of the book, and that normally they would apologize directly to the victim but in this case the victim is dead. His sister suggests that Higashiyama (the current company president) visit her brother's grave, to which the director replies he doesn't know why the president should have to do that, that Higashiyama didn't do anything wrong, and that they can't sincerely make an apologize. Higashiyama later met face-to-face with Nakatani's sister and apologized (presumably not at the grave). The whole documentary is fucking insane and the phone call is blowing up online so I can see Johnny's idols getting banned for a longer while.

>tfw I didn't manage to notify the frens on /tv/ who made a "weeb horror movie" thread to come here before it got 404d

>>48097952>avistazFuck.. I can't keep up with their ratios there. I only download obscure stuff that have 0 leeches for months.I also don't have an account anymore.
>>48097940Recommend me a good recent Japanese spooky movie to watch tonight.
>>48098060>tfw all the actual scary j movies are like a handful that we all have seen beforeThere are lots of creepy and wtf but actually scary just a few.If you have 3 hours and like slow burns watch JuOn Origins maybe. I will watch Incantation (netflix) tonight. Also, watch The Eye (original) or Dark Water original. The rest are the regular masterpieces, The Ring, Ju On, Noroi, Pulse, One Missed Call.
Unless you want some creepy/interesting/wtf/spooky ones too.
>>48098621Might as well ask you, Was Sadako vs. Kayako any good or is unwatchable trash?
>>48099226I wouldn't touch this even for free. It looks very sterile, Americanized slop. I suppose if you like Freddy Vs Jason sure, but if you expect scary, no way.
>>48099377It's supposed to be a horror comedy. I'll check it out and report back.
>>48098060>>48098621Watch Chime (2024) by Kurosawa Kiyoshi. It's one of the most deeply unsettling and chilling horror films I’ve seen in recent memory. Felt to me like a spiritual sequel to his masterpiece Cure (1997). It's like a nightmare that feels more like Kurosawa toying around with the themes he touched in past works; madness, loneliness, and the rotten underneath of the normalcy facade. Unbelievable sense of dread and tension pervasive through the entire film. Intentionally abstract, but hypnotic and terrifying anyway. Some scenes leave a lasting impact like the best of the works he's known for. Every single shot is exquisitely composed, none of them wasted or without a reason. The excellent sound design will make your body hair stands 100% so I recommend watching it with headphones.
>>48098621Other than the two chink shit you posted, I watched every title in your post here. Ju-On Origins being the most recent one, it was very good. Different from the original Ju-On, yet having similar vibe. More focused on tragedy of those who were cursed than the curse itself, but still very disturbing.>>48099439I never heard about this movie before. Reading your post, I'm fucking sold. Cure is one of my favorites in the J-Horror genre. Gonna watch it tonight.

>>48170570>Matsumoto is apologising for causing any discomfort and hurt to the women involved. No, he didn't apologize to the women, he said he apologizes if anyone was offended. Sometime around 2001, I saw an episode of a Japanese TV show on WLIW (local educational station for the NYC area). I've been trying to track down the show off and on ever since. I didn't catch the title (I missed the first few minutes of it, I was just flipping through channels that night). What I remember:>Detective show, followed mainly a woman and a man who were police detectives, also a few others at the police station.>I'd guess it was made in the late '80s or early '90s. There were no cell phones or other similar things in use.>Plot of the episode was an old woman had died under suspicious circumstances, found dead in the bathroom. Her daughter in law was the main suspect, as she resented having her husband's mother moving in with them.>Had a side plot during the investigation about a ring of scammers targeting the elderly pretending to be gas or electric company employees.>In the end it turned out that the woman had died accidentally, and the detectives and other people at the police station all did an exaggerated sigh of relief that there wouldn't have to be any arrests. This ring a bell with anyone?

>>48173256>massage therapistI think the lawsuit was about the A and B whores, all the other ones that came later (and went completely silent soon after) were not included.
>>48177616It would be a shame not to continue it, I want to see Kiryu and Yumi running the orphanage in Okinawa, just like in the games.
>>48110701How ass are these subs? I forgot to check these files out and get the series from the other anon..
Any good (non-romance focused) dorama and movies that came out this/last year?
>>48177697I don't like how they added a cliffhanger for this show.
>>48178546It made me a bit curious how they would continue with these changes.
most wanna see him back on tv.
this nigga really posts 4 screenshots and ignores the narrator saying they received mixed reactions, the guy saying he doesn't want to see him, and all the upvoted posts in the comment section saying they don't want a criminal rapist like him to return
>no proof>rapistChidori fucking sucks btwDaigoWillNeverBeMacchan
there's no proof bro trust us redditors
>>48183423Does that look like rape?
>>48177879Any specific genres?
>>48182604You don't even watch variety shows aside from gay idol bullshit, why are you dilating in rage over Matsumoto Hitoshi?
>>48183423wow, he's literally raping her
>>48183546Anything really, as long as it's good. I like relaxing stuff but also intriguing thrillers. Just preferably nothing where romance is the focal point.

>>48183992Got you. I'm not so much into relaxing stuff, but love thrillers and action dramas.Last year I enjoyed 'VIVANT' and 'INFORMA' the most. This year I enjoyed 'Tokyo Swindlers' and 'The Queen of Villains' the most.
>>48184133>>48184158Thank you, will check them out. And woah, Iwai has a new movie? Is it good? Might make that one my number one priority.
>>48184319>And woah, Iwai has a new movie? Is it good?It was incredible. There's a three hour cut version, but it's not uploaded anywhere yet.
>>48184475>There's a three hour cut version, but it's not uploaded anywhere yet.Did you watch it in cinemas? I see a 2 h 58 min long one on avistaz, is that not it?

I just finished watching AbuDeka, is only the og series subbed or is there more? Also any other drama like it with subs? I really loved the show.
>>48184592What the fuck did I just watch?
>>48184676The 1987 movie is subbed.
>>48184676>Also any other drama like it with subs?MIU404
>>48184592I completely forgot about this drama, was meaning to watch it earlier this year. Is it good?
>>48184592For a netflix drama there is weirdly little talk about this.
>>48184319There's a drama version of it which is basically like a director's cut. Might as well watch that imo.
>>48185124It's not really a Netflix drama. It was first aired on MBS.
>>48170870This is the first drama I've seen her in. Her cute charm really does grow on you.
>>48185155From my experience drama versions of movies, even if they technically have "more" content, tend to be worse. E.g. Forest of Love, Love Exposure... Movies tend to be made in ways that they expect you to watch them in one sitting.Or have you watched both and compared the experiences?
>>48186337I only watched the extended version. Personally if the director intended for it to be longer but had to edit out stuff for the movie version I'd prefer to watch the "full" thing. But up to you.
So I found out that Shunji Iwai has re-cut his latest movie (Kyrie) into a 10 episode serie (Rojo no Ruka). Has anyone watched both? Which version should I go for?
>>48186337I always watch the normal version (sometimes I don't even know there's an extended version) and save the extended version for the rewatch. Whenever I do that, I always enjoy the extended versions more. Forest of Love and Love Exposure became even better with the more hours cuts imho.
>>48186662Only watched the 3 hours cut (because I didn't know about the drama version), but I'd rather watch the drama version myself.
>>48187582>汚い世界やなThat's the world guys like Matsumoto built
>>48187685Kek.
>>48187706They can do that on TV?
>>48188074Of course. We live in amazing world created by Macchan. Unlike boring lame content we often get nowadays.
>>48188074It's a late-night variety show.
Reiwa is worst era
>>48188605worst era so far
>watched Gannibal>very good show>it ended on a fucking cliffhangerWho the fuck thought this was a good idea?
>>48189331Welcome to the netflixication of j-dramasThe second season will also end in a cliff-hanger
>>48189702Is it confirmed to not end with season 2?
I bet the ones whining about Matsumoto's return are the same types who whine about a certain result of a certain event this week.4b movement top kek
Any good movies or series with her in the main role?I just watched TsumaSho on Netflix and fell hard for this baba...
I'm pretty new to dorama so I have to ask. Why is it that new ones look extremely sterile and why does everyone look like a disfigured alien? I've watched a lot of old movies and a few series and the difference is enormous. Is it the usage of film going away? Is it the industrialization of talents instead of actors? I'm genuinely puzzled.
>>48190531Higashino Keigo Samayou Yaiba
Any decent 24/7 web channel (no news) I can stream on mpv or whatever?
we need to talk about how very few jdramas get official subswhen will japan stop fucking us over?
>>48195258they're fine with that. unlike kshit that has presence on all major streaming platforms and a couple niche ones.
>>48195429fansubbers take too long because they have normal lives
>>48195258TV stations are slowly adding their old content with subs to streaming now though.https://nyaa.si/?f=0&c=4_1&q=MagicStar
>>48186662I can't imagine watching the tv version, the 3h cut already feels long enough for the material
Is this really appropriate for prime time TV?!
>>48189927No, that's my pessimistic guess
it's good
>>48202942no shut up
>>48202942Yes, the story is really entertaining. The show is very comfy.
>>48202942I’ll take your word for it
>>48192665Thanks. Any good romance movie or drama with her?

>>48211938Macchan suddenly raped her and she'll complain about it years later.
>>48184133I marathoned them all in these past 3 days. Enjoyed all but Lumberjack the Monster. My favorite was Chime, despite the 45 mins runtime. Simply haunting from start to finish. Is there anything like it?
>>48211938tfw every single time I watch Mezamashi Terebi and see Tanihara, his doggystyle scene from Miike Takashi's film Fudoh pops into my mind.

Is this movie any good?
>>48237403Pace too slow, too long and that ending made me feel like I wasted my time
Just finished The (Golden?) Family that just came on Netflix recently and it restored my faith in Japanese shows after starting to think in the last year that generally they're pretty bad with low quality and bad acting (I liked GTO 2012 and Full Time Wife Escapist) since I've been going out of my way to watch more stuff and sadly Korean shows absolutely mog them even though I strongly prefer Japan. What else is good on the major streaming sites? Seems Netflix by far has the most but not very many even so.

>>48238908People gonna freak.
>>48238272>The (Golden?) FamilyNever heard of it
>>48238908He should return here first. Gakitsuka isn't a primetime show and there's no massive sponsors to worry about. >>48239692They are already freaking out. The show shouldn't listen to terminally online autists who don't even watch the show and focus on the fans. I think they already understand that, hence the next episode.
do you anons live in japan?
>>48239695Actually it was supposed to be The Grand Family(Karei-naru Ichizoku), but it's just called The Family on Netflix. It's based on a book and had a movie in the 70s, a TV show in 2007(this is the one on Netflix) and then another tv show in 2021.
