Reposted the thread because it was deleted. I'll repeat that this is a weekly thread and NOT a general. It gets posted every week to show translation status updates and it should not be treated like a general of which only one can exist at one time. Definitely put in LingerieS by Ramune Games on the list.

Video Footage.

I would put this under the Visual Novel releases. Supposedly this is releasing in December 2024 and has an 18+ DLC Patch On Steam itself. I also hope JAST and MG get it on their stores as well that is just the full 18+ Edition. It looks like an honest attempt at an Ecchi VN that is all about trying out Lingerie including Sexy outfits. It also has E-Mote, beautiful backgrounds, really good character design and Animation to it. So it's definitely high end for what it is.

>◆What kind of DLC 18+?
>You can enjoy lovey-dovey sexual scenes between the main character and the heroines.
>All sexual scenes are animated.
>Only Japanese audio is available.
Only minus is that they prevent streaming and that it has Mosaic for 18+. But I think this was due to Steam putting those restrictions on them. Maybe if they are on the JAST/MG platform it can have no mosaic and no Steaming Restrictions placed on the game.

I wonder if that is how it managed to get past the review process. It was not in a school setting but more a Mall setting as well. Still interesting how they did it though lol because usually even if you do follow the rules somehow they find a way to reject your releases.

>Still interesting how they did it though lol because usually even if you do follow the rules somehow they find a way to reject your releases.
What are you even talking about? Maybe like 5% of VN releases get banned by steam. Hasn't the only ban this year been Tenshi Souzou?
>>
>>48098162
If the problem persists, put a vtuber somewhere in the OP to make sure it doesn't get deleted by nujannies.
>>
>>48100150
VN wise, An Aunt After My Own Heart also got banned, along with the second attempt to put the Chinese version of Hamidashi Creative Totsu on Steam (though that was more of an extension of a ban from the previous year).

Tokyo Clanpools also got banned non VN wise, though that falls into the DT2/2-2 category of submitting an uncut ecchi all ages game rather than making a Steam cut.

>>48100141
This year at least, with the amount of caution VN publishers have taken, the more usual seems to be reviewers causing headaches instead of outright bans. Obviously you have the current Kiminozo headache (though since that is intended to be an all ages release without a patch), but something like Aoi Tori was given radio silence for 2 months by the reviewer before having the build rejected for having too little content and needing to resubmit.

Sadly I wish more publishers would just shift over to MG/JAST than to keep it hostage on Johren or Switch.

Steam has bad rules as a whole. Sure the reviewers look at things, but like you notice they outright just ban things even when they follow the rules. Nekonyan is a good example with their releases this year. I think the one game that was having a remake even was rejected twice and now has to go into next year because of arbitrary reasons. It's obvious someone in there is making it harder for Japanese games to be approved especially when they are not nudity related.

Steam has vague rules which are interpreted by individual reviewers, leading to wildly inconsistent enforcement. That said, at least for VNs, there is almost always something the reviewer can point to in the submitted Steam build to justify a perma-ban (though builds can be failed, without being banned and allowing a re-submission, for reasons other than content, such as "being incomplete", while other titles can have a build be rejected for content without being outright banned, as is the case for KimiNozo right now). For Angel Reboot specifically (the last NekoNyan title to be outright banned), the sample screenshots originally on the Steam page included an image with visible areola, so the build initially submitted to Steam likely included content the reviewer could point to and justify a ban, and the second submission by the Chinese publisher did not get looked at as a result of it being viewed as a second submission despite the different publisher submitting the build.

My bad, for some reason I misread LoveLavs for Laplacian. Though this doesn't change very much; Shira is more known for high number of releases rather than sales and LL had a bad reputation for shaming their costumers over social media when they dared to ask for better localizations.
VNs business is still very niche and the number of costumers low, really low. Screwing them with your arrogance will decrease the incomings, low revenue will make other companies avoid you, and without support the business flops.

Why is doing this in modern games completely cost prohibitive?
>>
>>48111309
You're wrong. We have plenty of short nukiges/hentai games with such or better animations. But these are short and sell like hotcakes.
Age can't effort it anymore as their budget got shrunk with all of their late flops.
>>
>>48111440
>You're wrong. We have plenty of short nukiges/hentai games with such or better animations.
If anything that proves I'm right because no one is able to do it in full length games anymore as far as I'm aware. Doing something like that should have gotten cheaper not become a budgetary impossibility.
>>
>>48111440
And they have like 2 sprites and 3 backgrounds
>>
>>48111504
You're only right about the long VNs. The cost will never go down as their engine needs a lot of manual inputs and isn't as cost efficient like the Ai animated ones like the Imouto engine used for CloverDays/White Album because... it's way cheaper.
>>48111550
More than few spirites and backgound, just enough for 2-5h nukiges.
>>
>>48111309
The 3D Ace Attorney games are up there as gold standard for what VNs could be doing, but instead we just get poorly used paper cutouts. And by that I mean they aren't even using the sprites cleverly like what you posted.
>>
Please don't do this to me, I still have so much to read!
>>
>>48113409
Ace Attorney has Gameplay, high production values and commands a high price point of a full priced Game or 50-60$ VN, especially Danganronpa and even Rance. That is just too much money to get started and to be able to do these things. I do wish we had VN's with Gameplay elements and had the Fanservice elements with Ecchi kind of like a Fire Emblem Fates/Awakening where there is headpatting your favorite Lady, relationship mechanics and then playing an SRPG but more of a hentai version. It would be interesting to see if VN companies could create something like this at the 45-50$ range, 50$ if all Characters had Imouto Engine on top. Only company I can see doing this is VenusBlood with a newer title with Dualtail/Ninetail just because they have a Game Engine capable of the SRPG and Economy management, they also have solid character designs, storytelling and are improving static images to have more animation on gameplay.
>>
>>48114306
Come on now, it's disingenious to say the AA games have gameplay. Maybe there is some old touch screen interactive parts, but they make up 1% of the actual meat of the product. The rest of the "gameplay" is simply presenting evidence, which is effectively like having a laundry list of choices where the correct flag is hidden unless you sleuth it out.
>>
>>48114086
You're not missing much spiking this shitty release. Wait until some groups decided to start a restoration project.
>>
>>48111632
>>48111504
I think it comes down to the fact that if companies can not do the Imouto Engine or E-Mote somehow, they probably should try to do what Orcsoft does and add a few more frames to convey the hentai scenes as a whole. Maybe that can be a good balance or a transition until it's easier to do Imouto Engine Animation on Characters like Clover Days/White Album.
>>
>>48114378
Not exactly. You make it seem easy like it's just something you make and it's done and everyone could do it. If it was true, why is there not thousands of VN creators who have Gameplay elements on the scene? Why do we not see Imouto Engine on every game even on the lower end? Because it's not easy and costs are high to get someone to make a customized engine for themselves. It takes talent and it's not always so simple and easy to do.
>>

AA series save money by having almost no voice acting though. It probably doesn't have much higher budget than a long VN with full voice acting.
I see some vns Live2D for more lively sprites nowadays, however not everyone likes it, some people find moving sprites just creepy.

Production value doesn't matter as much as you think it does in this medium.

That is a good point with Voice Acting work. That is most of the budget alongside Artwork. Something would have to be cut to make it work or the price would need to be raised, and there would need to be titles that can convince people to accept the rising of costs.

I would agree with you on Live2D/Imouto Engine, but only on Sex Scenes. Which to me would be too exaggerated and kind of look like cut outs trying to move fluidly in which looks bizarre and believe me I have seen it. It's just too weird, same can be said about Character Portraits as well if it's too much movement, but I do tend to forgive it more if it's just basic movement like Eyes blinking, Mouth movement when speaking and some small animation that help convey the emotions of the scenes.

NTA but I agree up to a point. Ace Attorney and Danganronpa are huge stretches because they have a literal AAA studio with tons of resources backing those projects. I think it depends on the producer/company and the works they put out vs saying it needs to be uniform. For example I can enjoy Clockup Works, Nitro+ or even works from Liquid, Waffle without needing Live2D because the Art, Story, Characters and the work they put into their VN's are high end and command their prices. It's like they understand the Entertainment and Art while knowing what a VN is and can convey so much due to people supporting them and allowing so much variety of storytelling they know what works for their audience. But let's say it's something like a Moege that is very common, maybe it would help in some way to make it stand out more or to create this sense of something between Light Novel and Anime.
