I saw this as the portrait of a Maritumix music video, and I loved it. In the video it has something written in it and in this one it does not.The point is. I want you to post Touhou art that looks special, meaningful, unique or is just good at being pretty.
>>48148866Pic related. Just by looking at it, I can tell how much they stink.
This thread had such a good start...
>>48154678Thanks, here is other one that gives me a different, but somewhat good vibe.
This one is kind of soothing I think
I love this artist's stuff.
I had a lot of touhous like this and I somehow lost my touhou folder, I don't even know how
>>48155043You're welcome, I'll raise you by one Yuyuko drawing of my own and see where that takes us. Some of these early Touhou artists really knew what was up.>>48164530A crying shame, real big fan of how that looks...
>>48154678Ah yes, the worse sisters.
>>48164591I think they're Neat
>>48164620Flandre is trash.Koishi and Nue are okay but Satori is better.
>>48164665Fair enough.
People hate Flandre because she's overrated but she's a pretty alright character
anabone's art is my favorite.
>>48166723really beautiful stuff.
>>48164070
>>48167674
>>48166728Reminds me of Gustav Klimt
>>48164665Shit taste.
>>48175396Holy shit, Kams is back? I used to watch his videos a decade ago
@stk013
>>48195086He is active on xiiter
Kabaji's flashier pieces are always especially nice but I love how cozy this one feels
I like the slice-of-life pictures, they remind me of photojournalism. Most of them are way over 4 mega, sadly.
...And, on the absolutely other side of the spectrum of mundane vs abstract, I also like the actual spellcards depicted on art. Those patterns are meant to be pretty, but you often has little time and thought to enjoy them as you focus on dodging.
>>48227265
The entire Super Speed Starters doujin for me.
I love Dahuang's art. They usually have a very fleshed out backgrounds.
>>48238044Bewilderingly so at times.
>>48245198>But I'd rather have that tooGreedy Patchy. Wanting both a hug and an allowance...
>>48166776
Big fan of these group shots
Many of the images I'd like to post are over the 4mb limit.
>>48302056Just post the link here or upload it to catbox/pomf like sites.
>>48303232
Couldn't save the vintage art thread before it fell off, sad...
>>48343406I made that last post but for some reason it didn't bump the thread
>>48365141I really like this image. I think it's the mixture of some sort of realism with the absurd-looking kedama, while the scenario behind is all tilted and dreamy.Man, Touhou artists can make some pretty nice pieces.
>>48164855>People hate Flandre because she's overrated but she's a pretty alright characterNo, she's hated because Flandre fans are some of the worst fans ever. You're right about her being a pretty alright character though.
>>48366398There's just something very eye-catching about early 2000s 3D modelling. The fluffy look and effect of the kedama is something very isolated from that era, I can only think of some games from the OG XBOX that had that effect combined with some pseudo-realism which was then never used again.
>>48369202Speaking of early 3D, here's the earliest known 3D Touhou animation.https://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm1483DLhttp://web.archive.org/web/20061012051427/http://tohomoe.sakuraweb.com/2nd/upload/src/thm3018.mpg>Made by Shiobi [http://www.siobi.info/index.htm] in support of Yuyuko for the second Touhou Saimoe Tournament (Meiling won). >>48374121Those models are so cute...love the style of that artist. Hope he's still getting decent work somehow.
>>48379534Damnit, pardon the name. Back in the shadows I go.
>>48374121That's seriously very well made. You could trick someone into believing that a PS2 Touhou game existed and show them this video as the intro FMV as "proof".
>>48379534>>48381290I find it inspiring. I've been wanting to sit down and learn to 3D model so I can make dioramas in a similar style. I just need to push myself through the growing pains of learning new software.
Some of the early 2hu fanart from the Japanese image boards. I don't think there's any fanart of the PC-98 games from the 90s or pre-EoSD days. After all, EoSD sold pretty badly when it came out just having some hundreds of sales until it exponentially grew in popularity through word of mouth. If sales were that low for EoSD when it came out, I can imagine the PC-98 games being way lower in sales.
>>48392230There's a few sources for PC98 popularity though. We have at least one confirmed PC98 daifan, Pietoro, a former Amusent Makers member that made Torte Le Magic and had ZUN make the music for it.Here's what he says in the game's manual:>For this "Torte Le Magic", ZUN, the creator of Touhou Project, made the music for me!>As an avid Touhou fan, I was so happy that I almost died from that.>Or should I say that the fact that he worked with me was so cool that I died from it?>Although at first I was thinking about making my game based off of Touhou...... >Ahaha.>With that, I'll do my best in improving the game. Yes.I do think there's PC98 fanart... I have already seen it, but I can't recall if it was on one of these threads on /jp/ or elsewhere. Maybe some archive digging is in order.
>>48227759Wonderful rendering, has a nice picture book feel to it.
Are there any styles or mediums you readily associate with particular characters? I think watercolor and Yuyuko go hand-in-hand.
>>48452848Most dark, monochrome Komachi images are great.
>>48452848I associate darker coloring and somber tones yet harmless drawings with Koishi
I own this Nue traditional media art from an artist in the UAE
>>48184333I love that person's art! I have one of their Suika suika pieces
>>48368974nice art, Sanae is probably freezing though
>>48184333>>48469458http://ffkaiura.sakura.ne.jp/Man, what a shame they're mostly sold out. I'd love to have a work of his on my wall.
So many pretty and stylistic images ITT
fakepucco and depthbomb
Favorite threads. Honestly just scour jp for cool images of cool touhou's. Somedays i just open my /jp/ folder and look though all of the images I saved.
This Reimu wallpaper is special for me. My first contact with the series was before 2007, I don't remember the date exactly. As I've always been a weeaboo fucker and collected images of cute anime girls, I remember using a wallpaper of a girl in red miko clothes (picrel, 05 August 2007), and only later did I discover that her name was Reimu and that I already had images of her saved. Then I came into contact with the music of circles like IOSYS, Alstroemeria etc and watched the clips on youtube, and when I started playing OSU I downloaded several Tohou songs. My life was marked by Touhou, the closest thing I could call a waifu came from Touhou, to this day I still use Touhou cursors on my PC. There have been so many cosplay images saved, so many fanarts, so many times listening to the OST (which I still listen to while studying or lurking) and fanmade songs, so many fan games played and watched, so many doujins read, so many memes and references... Although other series have "defined" me, Touhou has always been there and has always influenced me. Funnily enough, I'm one of those who doesn't usually play the original official games, but I've been following the girls' fanbase since 2007.I've never had a figure or a fumo, but I still want one. At least one of my eternal waifu (Remilia Scarlet). In part, I never bought one because, as a poor weeaboo with no credit card for many years, I never bought imported ones, and at Portugal anime conventions there were never any figures of Touhou, and when they did appear, they weren't of my beloved. The shops that imported them years ago were too expensive. It's only recently that I've started living in excellence, so the figures will have to wait. My waifu deserves the best, I'm not going to get a cheap, badly made figure, I want a decent one, one of those from Griffon.
>>48183051This would be a good level in a 2010s CoD game
>>48219427I saw someone (picrel) had actually printed themselves a custom t-shirt of a danmaku pattern and honestly I'd like to wear one myselflooks nice enough that normies won't know you're a weirdo if they accidentally see it
>>48369202A fellow early 2000s 3D CG fanI'll be honest I want to see games use that again>>48374121Ooohh yeah thanks for sharing this dude
>>48390977Same!Though I lean more on wanting to make dioramas of non-existent sci-fi games like Starcraft 1's match results screens
>>48148866Touhou art that you think looks special or unique
>>48148866I'll never stop posting this one. It is my personal fave
>>48542485I can see why thanks
>>48166728I'm furious! I can't believe that was not only for sale, but for 4000yen only!!!!
>>48538617They sell those at Comiket/reitaisai actually! I have a Remilia one! I like it a lot!
>>48166723
>>48557736Why are Reimoo's nipples hard?
>>48558954Could be chilly and we know who is responsible
>>48415583Source on the song? The catbox file doesn't have any metadata.
>>48538617but normies love anime
>>48570717You know what I was gonna say I wouldn't wear an anime t-shirt to a family gathering but then remembered my 5 year old cousin wearing a Demon Slayer t-shirt and when I asked apparently she and her little sister love watching it
>>48570717Just like with video games, certain parts of it have become mainstream.Definetly not all of it but the pool is starting to get diluted to better suit them.Would still wear a shirt with Danmaku patterns on it myself.
>>48574768I heard bad things happened to the Dungeon Meshi community following the release of the anime, and portents of doom from the Witch Hat Atelier community that the same will happen which sounds like what you mean by >the pool is starting to get diluted to better suit themIn other words normies ruin everything>Would still wear a shirt with Danmaku patterns on it myself(I'm the same guy >>48538617) wonder how much it costs to get a custom t-shirt printed apparently the person who drew the previous picrel chose Keine's last word (though the actual T-shirt IRL isn't an in game screenshot disappointingly. I actually prefer how they depicted it in the drawing; looks cool)The next question would be what Spellcard would you want to wear. Suppose if you have a waifu it makes the choice easier but what if your waifu has trash patterns
>>48567193https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifUIPaTYG4E
EXCELLENT thread, I've saved like a third of the images here so far
>>48580706Frames, huh? I feel like posting this one is obligatory then.
>>48534825For me it was pic related. I saw a cute drunk anime girl and looked for the source and I found Scarlet Weather Rhapsody that way. I then found the rest of the games too.
>>48580850I like how Marisa has two frames because she was inexplicably a redhead once
>>48580850Rin...
>>48582731the information that Rin actually has a design ZUN drew that isn't circle cut girl is sad because we know he's never going to share it
>>48582943At this point, the Shanghai Alice poster girl is Rin. Not like that girl has ever been used outside of Comiket promotional art.
>>48581736It gives a nice composition effect as well: Marisa has two frames, Reimu one and Rin has an effectively null frame, which means that each girl holds a different number of frames.
>>48570717>>48544048here's that remi shirt
>>48538617I also made my own shirt by reproducing some sort of fake shirt mock-up I saw years ago. I found the original Reisen art, and edited it to look like this. Thought it came out pretty well. Too high a power level to wear in public, but it was fun to make at least
>>48597000>>48597037Hory shittuu!!
>>48611853I really like this one.
>>48469411I wonder what the arabic says
>>48567193https://youtu.be/zwCfXlxtDR8Sounds like a cover of illusionary white traveler
>>48613671From the same artist
I really like the style
Not sure if it really counts but I always really liked Genji Asai's art
>>48633685His take on Marisa is adorable
this thread is images
>>48597000Really cool shirt but fuck 10-4
The file size limit doesn't do this picture justice at allhttps://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/8676615
This one's an ole piece
>>48167680Beautiful art.only a shame that the @ is over it
>>48183970is that jerma? LOL
>>48647901you know it baby
>>48647654Another one
>>48600301Dumb train otaku hag
These are such great pieces! If you didn't know the characters, I don't think anyone would be able to guess they're from a Japanese video game
>>48659249Smart densha-enjoying lady
>>48674904Youmu: Phantoms Myon Twice
It's not that unique, but I like it.
>>48676857No anon, it is unique
>>48148866
This one looks kind of haunting
ZUN, I NEED NEW RUMERS STUFF PLEASE
>>48697078I'm replying to this image but I mean to say this to the entire thread, why is Touhou fanart so unfathomably cool
>>48700970A combination of Touhou being almost 30 years old, being inspired by good mangas, ZUN sprinkling in some grim stuff here and there, leaving room for interpretation of the characters' true powers, being based off mythology with hints of the darker aspects of them possibly being canon, the characters having very memorable designs, ZUN being generally pretty cool with fanmade doujins and projects, etc.It all leads to an environment that allows fanartists go wild
>>48148866Question to people who play touhou, how long did it take you to beat one of the games on lunatic? I started playing these games in November last year and recently finished 1CC'ing all the games on normal and wanted to beat UFO on lunatic since it's supposed to be the hardest, how long do you guys think it would take me?
>>48700970The world building and characterisation leave just enough to the imagination, so lots of very creative people are attracted to it.
I think this art by KEI looks cool.
>>48701449It took me almost a week to get my EoSD Lunatic 1CC after getting a handful of Normal 1CCs and a PCB Hard 1CC. UFO is also next on my list after I'm done with Ketsui 1-ALL.>and wanted to beat UFO on lunatic since it's supposed to be the hardestIt's actually harder than getting LNBs in some of the easier games, so get ready to grind some numbers. Bonus points if you do it with MarisaA.
>>48701449There’s a guy I know who jumps straight from normal to unatic UFO (and he’s never 1CC'ed any other touhou games, just straight grinding UFO), and it takes him around 100-110 hours. So, I guess you should be able to do it in around 20-30 hours or less
>>48701449If it's your first time playing a Touhou game, it can take a good amount of hours to get a normal 1CC depending on the game. Lunatic 1CC I'd say takes a good 5 days of attempts after getting a bunch of normal 1CCs.
