Bros how do I get better seriously? I "know" about 800-1000 kanji (from RTK and vocab), 3000 vocab (~2400 from lists, rest from immersion), 2 genki books worth of grammar points plus the occasional grammar google searches. I can't stand reading manga right now, as it takes too much time and effort. VNs are too fucking gay. I try to get some casual reading practice from 5ch, japanese twitter/youtube, yahoo chiebukuro, but I don't have the discipline to maintain doing that every day. I mainly only watch variety idol shows with eng subs nowadays, and try to pay attention to what they're saying and occasionally look up words/kanji as they appear in the on-screen captions or as I hear them. I have about ~350 hours of doing that. I can see some improvement in my listening and reading speed, but it’s still not enough for me to be satisfied.What should I do right now unironically? Should I just take the more academic approach and study other grammar books like quartet and continue with RTK, or just memorize more vocabulary from bigger frequency lists, or force myself to suffer through reading manga? Tbqh, I don't even like manga and tranime anymore. The only thing that excites me about the prospect of learning Japanese is being able to fully understand my oshi's speech.

For a short bit I have a surprisingly free time pocket but even with the motivation and using whole days I just feel like I can't effectively consciously cram much more new vocab etc. in at once (also tbf if I keep racking up vocab like this it will bite me in the ass when this time bubble likely bursts in the near future).Pretty sure I should just be patient but I'm really itching to start using JP "for real".
