Since Visa and Mastercard (and to a lesser extent, American Express) are no longer supported on many Japanese websites, I'm wondering if Discover is a good option.Can you use Discover whenever a website supports JCB?For context, JCB teamed up with Discover in 2006 when trying to enter the US market, and used the Discover network in the US while Discover got access to the JCB network in Japan.If you have a Discover card, I'd love to hear about your experience using it to buy from Japanese websites.From a less practical point of view, I'd also like to punish Mastercard and Visa for their shitty duopoly practices.
every credit card company is part of the cabal don't bother getting a new card, dlsite, pixiv, and fantia all have ways to circumvent direct usage of your card now anyway

However, I have been able to get it to work via paypal. Generally though, Japan is all kinds of fucked when it comes to whether a payment method would work. Thus, they have a huge number of them.
