Well, as per the previous thread I decided to try and experiment with some Illustrious fine-tunes, so I'd like to share my thoughts and experiences with them:>NoobWell, it served me well while it lasted, but I'm going to have to kneel. There's no standardisation right now and, each new version of Noob being more than a little different from the last, LORAs can crap out if there's a mismatch between the version they were trained on and that your model was trained on. That's kind of why people are still keen on Pony LORA compatibility being baked into fine-tunes; if it is, you can be almost positive they're going to work.You can try to up the strength of the LORA to something that'd be normally too high, to see if your default tags are overpowering it somehow, but I'm told it's a fringe case.

Keep it simple, and pay attention to those sampler settings.

Ball and chain restraint experiment was a failure, getting it right probably requires training a separate LoRA for this "accessory" exclusively and combining it with the character LoRA in the workflow. In any case, new LoRA is an overall improvement because it learned to reproduce minor details like red eyeliner without prompt. I've uploaded it to civit, logging in is not required for DL.

Out of this batch, one is picked based on visual preference, lack of errors/ambiguity in things like hands, and sent to the tile ControlNet that will guide the secondary sampler.Latent that was used to generate selected image is then upscaled to double the original size and fed to the secondary sampler that outputs the final upscaled image.ControlNet is necessary because simply upscaling the latent and making the sampler produce images at a non-native resolution leads to errors and artifacts in the final image like multiplying fingers and limbs. No matter how good and accurate the base image was, at double resolution sampler will give it 10 digits per hand in addition to all other funny stuff (you can set the ControlNet weight to 0 and check the result). Tile and canny ControlNet can prevent this by forcing the sampler to stick to the shapes from the original image, so no new limbs or fingers would grow. I've tried both and tile seems to be doing a better job than canny, especially when it comes to color (images look burned out after using canny ControlNet for some reason).This is not the only way to do upscaling, but it's preferable to me because I hate how pixel-based upscalers like ESRGAN and SwinIR destroy color and texture of original images, I want sampler and VAE decoder to be last things that touch the image.In reality, most images also require some polishing in either inpaint or face/hand detailer until they look truly good.
