Gave the Tsukihime remake a go as someone who never touched the original VN, was Arcueid's route that good in the original too? It's baffling how the circumstances seperating her from Shiki in the end dragged me in for the feels

In the original VN, their routes were basically just something you trudged through to get to the real meat of the VN (the Akiha, Hisui and Kohaku routes), but the remake made them good enough to stand on their own. A lot of it probably simply has to do with how VN engines have improved to the point that action scenes are actually feasible and the soundtrack actually having music for moods other than casual scenes, horror and tragedy (the original VN only had 10 tracks in total, 2 being reserved for H-scenes and the credits respectively), but the new characters also do a lot to add life to the world of Tsukihime.
