Be a bit silly to have Battler cry his eyes out and become a Beatrice simp if he didn't know the truth - not unless R07 really wanted to convey the message that music and emotions are fucking gay and for the birds.But just because Battler knows the truth - it doesn't mean he's gonna tell people the truth. Especially not Erika. So let's take a leap of faith here. Let's say Battler does KNOW the truth. What would strike us as odd about his behavior in episode 5 - by and large the emotional climax of the visual novel as a whole. In that cathedral he expresses frustration at "that riddle" being so hard, yet so stupid. He seems to view Beatrice as almost like a martyr through his dialogue. Shkanontrice surely meets the qualification of "difficult but stupid", but the martyrdom just doesn't add up.Battler had already theorized in the past that she was just Shannon wearing a wig. But for the answer to be "Battler Ushiromiya" - just not himself, that seems to match the tone of "difficult yet really stupid." There is a big sense of guilt coming from Battler in episode 5 too - like he was somehow responsible for what happened.Let's go back to Meta-Beatrice knowing about the Asumu thing. If we say Meta-Beatrice represents Yasu, even though there is (white) dialogue encouraging us to see her as an amalgamation of the family's grief, then sure, Yasu used her vast resources to find out about Battler's little secrets. Uh, ok... but wait a tick - that means Yasu wasn't cut off from Battler like we thought. That does make sense, and Meta-Beatrice knowing about Asumu could simply be the results of this hypothetical investigation Yasu does into Battler.But that would make Yasu much more cruel and callous. A far cry from the maiden who is in an obligation to George having her emotional desire be sprung out of an unexpected return - rather into someone who is quite frankly a selfish monster. But view it through the lens of "among other issues, the impending revelation that Jessica is not the trueborn heiress is going to fuck this family up and I have to concoct a plan to fix it" - Yasu retains the sympathetic martyrdom the visual novel puts in the emotional legwork to suggest. Sure, it's not perfect - if there's going to be a succession crisis why not just reveal "Oh I'm the head btw, thanks for not tipping all these years assholes" - but that much can be explained as Yasu having very little self confidence even after solving the epitagh.

One of the main points of EP 7 is that Battler isn't actually responsible and the Ushiromiyas were always fated to be destroyed. I don't think the real Yasu knew about Battler's birth. That info never shows up on the EP 1-4 game boards, only in the Meta-World. It's pretty clear that 1998 affects the Meta-World so that's probably where Meta-Beatrice picked it up. Every other Meta-character there besides Battler knew about it.
