/jp/, whats your opinion on Yume Nikki and its fangames?
>>48702221I like Nikki quite a bit, it left an impression on me a decade and a half ago. I feel fangames are more of a mixed bag. I enjoy stuff like dotflow on the narrative end, and things like Answered Prayers and Lcddem on the athmospheric side. I've even found a liking for newer stuff like Tsushin, but in general, i feel that the exposure the community has gotten has done more harm that good. Discordfaggotry, the Online mode, and the wave of tourist that followed after <INFLUENCER OF THE MONTH< played any of them have tainted conversation around the topic.Just look at the gay furry OC galore stuff like Collective Unconscious is, or the absolutely retarded stuff Namedude and Delta Judgement put on nu-2kki. TLDR: It used to be great on the 2chan/old internet days but now its filled with souless insufferable garbage.
>>48702221Original yume nikki is important in a way that's hard to express without sound pretentious, it's both culturally and artistically significant I do generally have a positive view of the fan games seeing them as a cool way to present the user with unique visuals sounds and atmosphere, though the most interesting experiences lay in stuff like .flow, fan games that are made by one dude with a cohesive vision
>>48702221Yume Nikki is absolute КИНО but the non-Japanese fan games and fans are not as good because they don't get it and never will.Yes, even Memetale.
The original game is timeless. Inimitable. The soundtrack has no reason to be as good as it is for an rpgmaker game. I'd go as far as recommending the soundtrack itself to open-minded ambient/electronic music enthusiasts.
>>48702359No!
Did you watch 5 hour video essay though?
words words words the thread
>>48702597Shut up Chiaki.
>>48702221YN is okay. I was never interested in the fangames. I'm not schizo or depressed so the game doesn't have much of an influence on me. It was fun stabbing things though.
>>48702221I only know Yume Nikki because of that one reaction image of the main character puking.
>>48702787her name is vomit-chan.
>>48702559God, someone sent me that. Talk about a pretentious nothingburger padded endlessly for ad revenue.
>>48702778>knife in hand>not a single npc in sight>guys im not a psycho i swear
>>48702221I played it when my mental health was at it's absolute worst. It was my gateway into other JRPG basics like Mad Father and Ib - all of which turned into kind of an outlet / escape for me. Very fond memories of all the games, but I don't want to touch YN again, since I know it'll pull me back to where I was when I first played it.
>>48706900Is that so? I feel like i'm able to appreciate YN because i can remember when i was at my worst playing it, now being capable to look back and realize that despite everything i'm on a better place than i used to,
>>48709741I see, almost like a time capsule? I guess it's a matter of being far enough away from the bad times to be able to safely revisit parts of them without relapsing. I'm glad to hear you're that far into recovery, anon, and that you can see how far you've come.
