When you collect your girls (or boys), do you give each of them a distinct theme/character? If so, does that influence the way you dress/present them or do you just buy everything for one and change?
>>50377186I think it's sort of the other way around for me. How I perceive my girls' personalities largely came from what I dressed them up in thinking it would look nice on them. So Akira ended up more tomboyish because I think that look matched her well, and Lily more elegant/big-sister type. That's not to say they don't occasionally get dressed in something that conflicts with their typical style.

>>50377493it's just a bit of putty usually, the eyes are meant to be adjustable and replaceable. just roll it off with your hands when you need to replace the eyes and stick it back onto the edges of new eyes as needed. you should also look up the appropriate eye size for your doll, you can sometimes vary the size up or down a bit to fill the sockets differently

>>50405254It's overall good. It feels a lot like the DD-f3 2.0 body that Lily has. I do have the previous generation DDS body, since Akira is a DDS-f3 Karin. Next time I change their outfits, I'll take a closer look at what's different. The forearm parts having the gentle cup that meets up with the wrist ball joint is a nice change compared to the previous generation's planar cut to the wrist joint. The hip joints feel like the DD-f3 2.0 joint, which I didn't really like, but is manageable. The bonus range of head motion in the neck joint being able to look up is a plus.

Bit of a strange request, but does anyone sew their own clothes for their dolls? I'm more into plush making and I'm having a hell of time learning how to sew such tiny clothes for my plushies. Any tips / guides on sewing doll clothes, or even just theory for sewing small clothes or the right fabrics to use? I saw all the patterns in the OP; still need to dig into those
>>50446594Just like painting miniatures, BJDs are just downsized versions of clothes making in general. Start with basic sewing to see if you like it or not and then create it in proportion to the doll's body. That's where knowing your girls' size is important.

>>50446594>>50446594The hardest thing I have found with tiny clothes is holding the seams in place as pins distort the fabric. The double sided sticky tape that dissolves in water works wonders. Then liquid fray stop to stop the seams fraying before you sew them. Its not cheap, but at such small scale, you don't use much.

Stretch fabric is very forgiving with a zigzag stitch, but for the ones I use most fabrics are woven wool or satin. For the smaller dolls you will be handstitching a lot of it. A lot of the headache is small edges getting stuck in the needle plate of your machine.

This yields the best repair results.2) You don't have a flap of the top layer anymore. You have a crater. This is hard to repair. Paint/gloss will look Okay from a distance. But there will still be a visible crater and minor color mismatch still.What I did in my pic was to peel off everything and lightly sand the surfaces. No more top peeling layer left at all. I removed even the intact parts of the top pleather layer. Then, paint the entire thing and gloss over it. But you will need to watch for doll staining in future use.
