So...anyone going?
>>50404606Yes.
>>50404606Too poor
Anything interesting coming out?
>>50404980Porn, as usual.
>>50404606too poor
I don't know where to ask, but what other alternatives are there to Comiket?I was looking to go next year, but having only 2 dates makes it a bit difficult to coordinate with my wagie life
>>50404611Nice. What are you planning on getting?
>>50405797Kemoket, the better Comiket
>>50405797Reposting old stuff from /a/:>>>/a/269784943If anyone here missed the chance to attend Comiket or want to find alternatives to Comiket, the following 3 events below are considered Comiket's biggest rivals in Japan.Akaboo Comic City (コミックシティ): a doujinshi sales event that attracts far more women's circles than Comiket due to there being no lottery system for booth spaces and very flexible schedulinghttps://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%82%B3%E3%83%9F%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF%E3%82%B7%E3%83%86%E3%82%A3https://www.akaboo.jp/https://twitter.com/AKABOO_OFFICIALBungaku Furima (文学フリマ): a flea market style event where vendors exhibit and sell their own works that they believe to be literature, which may include criticism, essays, haiku, kamishibai, manga, nonfiction, novels, photo books, picture books, poems, tanka, and zines.https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%96%87%E5%AD%A6%E3%83%95%E3%83%AA%E3%83%9Ehttps://bunfree.net/https://twitter.com/BunfreeofficialCOMITIA: an exhibition and sales event for original works only, where professional and amateur authors present and sell their manga and other works created by themselves.https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/COMITIAhttps://www.comitia.co.jp/https://twitter.com/COMITIAofficial
>>50402956Can an anon who's going check out some of the games for me? I want to go to Comiket to check out the games, but I'm not going this Comiket...
>>50407512I don't think you will find anyone who will buy games there for you, anon.
>>50405820Pron, as usual.
>>50404611Wow, thats really cheap
>>50411291Anon, it used to be free.
>>50411298Still fairly cheap but the wages for Japan havent really increased either
>>50411311The problem is more the hassle to buy or exchange the wrist bands.
>>50413266You can do it at like any animate or Melonbooks, animate basically has a location in every major Japanese city.
>>50413309I know, but that wasn't my point. Before 2019, you could just go to Comiket on the opening days and get in for free. Now you have to go to shops or exchange points to get tickets and then you are only allowed to enter at a certain time. It has become a lot worse than it used to be.
In case this thread dies, I will create a new one a week before Comiket.
>>50415210Meh been going since 2017, I prefer the new way as things are far less scalped. You can just walk into animate and grab tickets paid with cash, it's not hard unless you're some foreigner.
I've never checked out Comiket, is it worth going if I don't have particular booths in mind or will everything be sold out and I'll be wading through endless crowds the whole time?
>>50419885Yes, you can always just ogle at cosplayers.
>>50419885Except for the really popular stuff, most things won't be sold out that fast.
>>50419885Maybe an unpopular opinion for this thread, but I think Comiket specifically isn't worth the hassle now because of the access, crowds, and also that it's a paid event like a lot of other doujin events now. If you want to browse I would check out Comitia or a more narrow focused event (regional or subject matter).
>>50421568Do any of the other events have a similar amount of cosplayers?
>>50421568>I would check out Comitia or a more narrow focused event (regional or subject matter).Do they like gaijin there?
will be there cosplaying as cirno
>>50409217I don't want someone to buy them for me I just want someone to show them off
>>50426256Aren't there a lot of twitter accounts where that stuff is posted?
I would love to go to comiket at least once. Sadly, it's not going to happen this time either. Hopefully next year.Good luck to everyone going! I'll be reading your stories and checking out the typical twitter image repost thread (if someone makes one).
>>50404606Can't afford it
>>50404606>>50404611I will never understand how people can be comfortable buying pornography with others, all in a massive cathedral of pornography.
>>50421568>>50419885Can you even call yourself a japanese culture fan if you didn't experience the maelstrom of being shoved around by endless waves of otaku from all directions rushing to get their porn mags, after spending 4 hours camping out the entrance in the morning?Honestly I didn't buy much but I still had a good time, saw a lot of weird niche stuff, tried out some touhou indie games from some absolute madnmen who brought their PCs over, corporate booths with seasonal anime cosplay sluts, etc. I'd say if you're a nerd and you have tolerance for being bumped into with no apologies, then there's definitely stuff for you to see. Some highlights from going there with absolutely zero plans >unexpectedly met the authors of 2 manga series I follow, and got their special Christmas chapters which I still don't see scanlated online >found out that a couple of my favorite femdom artists are 40 y/o hags >saw a stand with a chubby chick with glasses selling doujins of Adachi from Persona 4 fucking her literal look-alike self-insert lmao. I really should've gotten one if only for the memory. Haven't been in summer though because the heat would kill me, I'd definitely stick with smaller events in that period.
>>50428804Regarding the question of "is it worse than before?" Seeing as it's 2 days instead of 3, and half the venue is just gachashit and vtubers, I'd say absolutely yes just based on that. But we can't go back to the past, and it's still miles better than any convention I've been to in Europe.
>>50428468It feels like being in a strip club with other men. Pretty nice.
>>50427787There are? I don't use twitter too much, so I had no idea. Do you happen to know of any accounts?
>>50428804>picImagine the smell.
Yay! I had luck and got one of the Mogra Countdown Party tickets via the lottery. Anyone else?
>>50429775That also sounds dingy and gross.
What is the best way to get enough coins for Comiket?
>>50436241500 yen coins? Laundromats or game centers. Round 1 should have change machines still but admittedly it's been a while since I've been in one.You don't really need coins if you have 1000 yen bills though, which should be easy enough to get out of an ATM. Most circles try to avoid anything that doesn't round off to the hundreds.
>>50436663You could also buy drinks from vending machines.
Is no one interested in Comiket?
Fuck, my friend bailed out and I have spare AM tickets for both day 1 and 2.Do I throw these away?
>>50444408Theoretically, the tickets are personalized, but I personally was never asked to show my ID/passport.
>>50444513>>50444513It's a AM wristbands though. I thought the personalised was only for early tickets?
>>50444553Well, then you can try to sell them.
>>50444568Can't be bothered while I'm on a trip.Wouldn't mine giving it to one of the anons.
>>50444612You could just gift them to random people who wait in the PM line.
Why are they still selling tickets anyway, wasn't that just a covid thing?
>>50444187I mean what is there really to talk about? Mark your booths down in the catalogShow up early and with plenty of coinsCharge your phoneGet some shoe inserts Meetup at red saw after for anonsLike what else is there to talk about anon? Unless people are going to be doing some meetups the weekend before, I am down, not much to discuss.>>50446566No they announced moving to tickets before covid. There were a few reasons:The trains couldn't deal with the flood of people coming through themThe Olympics brought a lot more eyes on the amount of people coming to the area, meaning locals wanted to limit it so they could go to/from work without being crunched. I think there were also some fire safety rulesThe venue started to charge more meaning it was either going to out price the market and vendors paying for a table or charge the attendees a small fee (like 1 hour of basic wage in tokyo)The rules and regulations are easier to enforce when they have a ticketing system than no ticket systemThere are other rumors out there like they wanted to stop scalpers who flooded booths to buy all the goods but I don't believe it even though when I've bought hotels onsite I've seen groups of Chinese cutting up books to scan online. Going since 2016 here, as much as I hate to say it I think the ticketing system was an overall net benefit for the event than a detriment. The only people I know pissy about it are foreigners who are too shy to show up to melon books for a badge or exchange it in person.
>>50444408The one year I don't attend and I miss out on free AM tickets, fugg.
>>50446805>show up to melon books for a badge or exchange it in person.>hurr durr>just arrive a week early to buy the tickets
>Finally in Japan during a comiket>Free on both days>Do I even want to go?Is is worth going to this thing anymore? Everything else in otaku culture has been so ruined by tourists and corps that I wonder if comiket is still what its supposed to be. I'd only want to get loli doujin and gravure merch. Can't buy too much of the former as I keep those the wife's room (not taking that through customs in today's clown world).Don't most of the doujin end up in K-books and mandarake anyways? I don't know, I booked a hotel just in case and I've been meaning to get to Animate to buy some tickets but I somehow don't feel excited about it.
>>50447124You can leave the area early if you don't like it.
I'm going to leave this here assuming folks that visit the comiket have supreme knowledge >>50445872Please have a look
>>50444408I haven't bought tickets yet. I can take them off your hands if you have them
>>50447064You know you can buy the tickets online right?
