And learning about more stuff like the aforementioned hack's reveal of the mods weirdly confusing and deeply autistic seething hatred of us didn't help, nor how the worst part of this website was literally only created because Moot met with a pizza ringleader to forward a political agenda with an infinite amount of bots doesn't really make me wanna come back seriously either. I will say it's fucking hilarious to think about how so many people here unironically based their entire adult identity and ideologies around the cum dripping from Moot's asspussy, but that's more of a general site-wide issue than a /jp/ one. And checking the catalog now that my filters are gone it does seem like a good chunk of the threads genuinely don't belong here and instead came from other boards. At a glance I don't see schizothreads from that turk from pissu or whatever alt it was anymore so at least that's a plus?

-download pale moon browser for the old firefox interface
-go on warosu and set the date from 2008 to 2011 and start lurking

Note how the board existed BEFORE HE EVEN MET EPSTEIN. People were complaining NON-STOP about /new/ being removed, because it acted as a containment board-and that containment exploded across the entire website.
Moot reinstated it in October of 2011, sometime around the same time as he met Jeffrey Epstein, but also, not coincidentally, around the same time he talked to Sherrod DeGrippo(which happened in November.) We also don't know if he even met with Epstein before the 23rd, as the tentative date we know of was the 24th of October, a day after /pol/ was reinstated.

Anyways, I personally don't have much of an issue with the new captcha. I think it's pretty good. It also lightens up over time. I really just wish the captcha had a longer expiry when you have 3+ to go through, and that it'd warn you that you got something wrong rather than having to go through the post.

What's funny about any of this is that Kancolle could had easily replace Touhou as THE doujin culture if it weren't for Kadokawa shooting itself in the foot for every year since 2014. Now Touhou is as bad as Kancolle in terms of it's quality and even lawyer issue at one point (kys ruw). The manga's are mediocre and even the mainline games aren't special anymore. It's all the same thing but in different coat and it's not as fun as what it used to be anymore, Fossilized Wonders was the only game in the series that actually tried something new. Over 20 main titles later. And I wouldn't miss anything If I skip to that.

What kept the series alive was always been it's legacy (regardless if it's the 90s or the past 2000s era) and the sea of fancontent it spawned. Even the "old works" are getting more attention and love than the recent titles nowadays. And that says a lot if games like Phantasmagoria of Dim Dream are far more enjoyable than Unfinished Dream of All Living Ghost.

Because what we came from were the characters, really. We didn't paid attention to the writing because the lore was just an afterthought to us. Since we can came up with headcanon regardless.

The main issue with this statement is that the mangas do try to have it's own narrative. And most of the time it fails so miserably that it overshadows the setting as a whole.

It's a bit of the main problem of Touhou: vagueness. People really seem to dislike that anything that could be used for a "canon crusade" could just be a character or a piece of propaganda.

Those characters feel rather as they change with the times(meta reasons) than in-universe reasons.
