By Niinou's own admission, Bamco was doing a lot to keep the development functional (even hiring the musicians, the visual departments, etc.) because Studio BB is literally just 7 guys.

I will say that while I still vastly prefer her original design in general, nu-Arc is also substantially more attractive. Old Arc is much more moe and works better s a proper horror character, while even apart from her clothes (which are less sexy in my opion, save for the boots) there's something much more MILF-ey about her and her attitude that makes me want to pin and breed her far more than I used to.

I'm thinking of making "1.5" version of OG Tsukihime if Red Garden isn't released in 2027, mostly to fix plot holes and add proper foreshadowing and whatnot, also improve some scenes and especially Ciel's Route. Would you guys like to see someone like Noel added as a minor character (as was originally intended for her in Tsukihime Remake), or should I keep it as vanilla as possible while improving on the core?

So I'm left with a really tough decision when inducting newcomers, do I make them read remake and wait for RG or make them read OG then Red Garden? Arc's route is largely the same, Ciel's is way better. But the OG is "complete".
Should I make them go through both the OG and the Remake or just the Remake to increase the overall impact?
I know you guys will go "oh just make them go release order lmao" which is fine but not everyone has THAT much time.

Seriously, how did you guys go about this? Personally, I read it in this order:
FSN, OG Tsukihime, KT, KnK, Mahoyo, FHA, Tsukihime Remake.
Ideally, I see the reading order as:
Mahoyo > KnK > Tsukihime (Remake when RG is out) > FSN > FHA, and then whatever they want. Also MB shenanigans after OG Tsukihime/Red Garden and TL after OG Melty shit is finished. Not that Melty is THAT important, but it still gives insight into Tsukihime characters and is fun overall.
Hopefully the Warachia story gets remade and improved in the TL title update, but it'd be worth playing all of Melty either way imo (TL kinda assumes you do)

I can see why he'd think that, but there aren't THAT many combat scenes compared to FSN. It's more of a mix of that and Mahoyo, there's less but they are longer. I will say that they are quite enjoyable for the most part, easily more than FSN, and they also make more sense than FSN fights.
Speaking of Near Side alone, I'd say the Vlov fights in both routes, especially Ciel's, are a significant improvement on the "catching Nrvnqsr off guard with MEoDP" event in the OG, given Shiki has to be more creative about it in both routes this time given Vlov picks up on his unusualness.
The fights shine far better insight into the characters involved than FSN as well. Noel's has one of the best scenes in the remake, the French Incident Flashback, and you also get to find out about Vlov's backstory in Ciel's Route, pieces are fed here and there, and even after he dies he's used as a reference point by Shiki a lot, making his presence up until Day 5 meaningful in both routes, whereas Nrvnqsr suffered a lot from his being the same in both routes. I will say though that while the hotel scene makes more sense with Nrvnqsr, Shiki thinking the vampire Arcueid was after being Vlov makes more sense than it being Nrvnqsr, given Vlov actually bites people for blood.
I for one don't like my VNs being paced like gacha games, so I like that it's longer. It helps me connect with the characters more, and the voice acting helps even more with that.
>Horror Aspect
This isn't Remake's fault. It's the fault of Nasu not pushing out Red Garden. All the horror elements are reserved for Red Garden. Satsuki Route is the OG Heaven's Feel, and it will be really good in the Remake.
Nrvnqsr will vore most of the cast after his fight with Arcueid ends in his favor, and the whole "Soil of Genesis", which is his Idea Blood now will serve as something similar to the Grail Mud/Black Shadow, more than the OG where it's only used once in that one fight (Roa asks Nrvnqsr to capture Arcueid for his ritual in the Remake, in the OG Trhvmn Ortenrosse orders him to kill Arcueid. This will lead to True Roa's separation from SHIKI, and a tag team situation where it'll likely be a 2v5 with Nrvnqsr and True Roa on one side and Shiki, SHIKI, Akiha, Satsuki and Vlov on the other. Further proof other than the tidbits of Satsuki's Route we've gotten over the years, both Vlov and Shiki's natural enemies include "Chaos".) Lastly on this subject, it's important to note that Nrvnqsr was only supposed to be mentioned in the original, and was added in later. His main role was always in Satsuki's Route.
SHIKI has an innate ability, one that allows him to transfigure other people's body parts onto himself, this will 100% be explored in the Remake. I imagine he'll get his arm and leg "drained" by Akiha alongside his Roa clothing, at which point he'll go find some new limbs from either Vlov or Arach will give them to him, and he'll also get his kimono.
Roa is more dominant in the Remake, taking influence far earlier, most certainly at the hospital SHIKI was staying in (which was destroyed hard by him), later resulting in the construction of the catacombs, but in Red Garden SHIKI will gradually regain more and more control, ending up in him returning to his white hair design after running around as the Remake SHIKI-Roa design for a while (reverse order compared to the manga, which the Remake takes ideas from).
Anyway, I think Near Side was changed for the better and far more fleshed out. Ciel especially was a character not a lot of people cared about in the OG but really shined in the Remake. When Red Garden comes out I don't think there'll be much of a reason to make people read the OG over the Remake, except maybe out of curiosity.

A little more on True Roa:
In his Melty profile back in the anniversary poll (Roa in MB is True Roa in his gameplay, I heavily doubt C-Roa being a Top 3 character is a coincidence even if he was buffed later, it's likely just a side effect of OG MB being made under a tight schedule), it's stated that in Satsuki's Route, he will distinguish himself from SHIKI's personality, pointing to an entirely unique entity with Roa's original personality and body coming out.
Original/True Roa is a monster and is one of the strongest characters in the lore.
To put it into perspective:

>Altrouge gets pissy about Roa and goes to kill him, only to be defeated herself.
>Arcueid had to jump Roa with the church in order to defeat him in his prime.

Now, there is a chance that he'll stick to Numerology even with his massive knowledge of magecraft, given he prefers that, but who knows. I think it'd be a massive missed opportunity to do that, especially given he gives Shiki that air dash or whatever you want to call it in Ciel Extra.

I suppose he might've mentioned where he lives off-screen in that fancy hotel room.

the PS4 translation and the Fan Translation are about on par from what I've heard, but the Fan Translation does some parts better. It's basically ideal to emulate the Switch version with the Tsukihimates translation.

I'm not against fan translations or anything, the reason it sucks that it's not localized on launch is it makes it slower for fan translations to come out (I think so anyway) and you're going to have to wait a long time before it comes out so you'll most certainly be spoiled by people who know JP. It was like this for Blue Moon anyhow, personally I'd take the slightly shittier translation with botched honorifics over having it spoiled, but each to their own.

I will personally say that the original has a STRONGER atmosphere on an aesthetical level, but the Remake has a deeper, more elaborate, more polished one. The world feels far bigger, which might be a con to you, but come on. Why would you want LESS characters? I don't want to ridicule anyone, but do you tend to forget shit a lot when it comes to this medium? Is it bad writing for you or "quantity over quality" to set up Nrvnqsr in Satsuki's Route right from the second day of Arcueid's Route? Why? Because as it's shown/stated in Tsukihime, if humans could live as long as Dead Apostles, they would also be capable of their superhuman feats like jumping twenty feet into the air or whatever. By inheriting Pure Eyes, you also inherit the parent's bodily traits. With that in mind, it makes sense how the Nanayas can move so fast that it looks like they're teleporting, right? Refer to Kohaku Route Bad End and Melty Blood, it's a fighting/killing style that was honed throughout several centuries.

It's foreshadowing. Again, blame Nasu for not releasing Red Garden already. It's the hospital SHIKI was staying in, and it's explicitly mentioned that the destruction seemed unnatural. Only Akiha knows he was there. There's lots of foreshadowing, like Arcueid's warning that the "water smells foul", and how Makihisa bought that general area. There's a direct pathway from under the Tohno house to the catacombs. Makihisa collaborated with Arach, probably buying her BS that it would help him cure the family curse, citing Ciel as an example (even though that had to do with her Origin of "staying human no matter what"). That's my take but the cooperation is undeniable.

By stronger atmosphere, I mean there's less tracks, so the mood is instantly set whenever you hear the "scary theme" or "the chill" theme (the scary themes are also more "impactful", in the remake they play later as well, in the OG they play earlier and far more often). Also the IRL backgrounds, less "funny" events, no shark teeth Arc or Arc with cat ears (tbf I heard that Ryougi actually has cat ears in the KnK LN, though I might be wrong and this might be a manga only thing). Nrvnqsr in Near Side being replaced with the weaker, more classical Vlov. Less characters in general.

It's not a theory. Satsuki's Route WILL be about him and True Roa.
Roa's Melty profile and Satsuki's arcade routes (which spoil her route lmao) confirm this, some other sources I don't remember as well I think.
You might say "oh they'll change it" but not only is he in the game, (albeit offscreen) but also this time around Roa sends him to capture Arcueid, not Trhvmn Ortenrosse. It only adds up more with the remake. And we haven't seen Sacchin's route at all unlike every other route, so it'll probably be changed the least barring Arcueid's route which is near identical.
About Nrvnqsr:
He starts fighting Arcueid when Shiki is going back to his house on Day 2. That's why his throat itches. When Arcueid is going back to her house on Day 3, she is visibly exhausted, as noted by Nanaya (not only that, but he notes that she's coming back from a tiresome job, and Arcueid later says her death resistance was lowered). So we more or less have a little over 12 hours as our timeframe for when the fight takes place and of course, Day 1 too.
My guess? Likely to do with Sacchin. She talks about her family's restaurant, but if you try going there it just doesn't work. Something will have to happen where one of them accidentally spot Nrvnqsr or something. The likeliest locations of where the fight occurs are either the infamous back alley (Mio stops Shiki from entering it) or some unknown, new location entirely. If I had to guess, Shiki goes to meet her, and when he/they are going back, they stumble on the fight which ends up in Nrvnqsr getting the lead and then mudding Arcueid, and Sacchin also gets captured by Nrvnqsr after noticing her potential as a Psychic, but he chooses to stay away from Shiki/blocks him off due to his eyes (something like Vlov picking up on it) or Mio comes and saves him. THIS is the theory part, and that's my general take, as such it's prone to being different but the general gist is the same. Shiki can't exactly just hurr durr and 17 piece Arcueid in this route because then she would be absolutely useless for Roa's ritual.

Those two are insanely powerful, but the "good vampires" team is nothing to scoff at either. They are nowhere near as perfect, but we're talking about the best CRV user, a DAA, a DAA tier psychic DA with a broken RM, a very powerful mixed-blood oni who gives some DA/As a run for their money (easily more powerful than dominant Roa with SHIKI's vessel as he can't/doesn't use oni blood stuff) and of course Shiki, the successor of the Demon Hunter clan with the highest fighting prowess. It's still not even, but they have a chance. This is how Nasu likes writing his stories anyway, the "turning the 0% into 1%" shit in Arcueid vs Vlov is a similar example, albeit it's less dire here.

I do have a question about this. In the original continuity, while the White Wing did give Nrvnqsr the order for the hunt -- Roa still has the same request for him:

The quote is more or less verbatim the same in remake accounting for the Principle. Is there some piece of information I'm missing which debunks Nrvnqsr still following the White Wing's order in remake? Because if the context of Roa's dialogue is the same as OG, where there was no ritual, it can be read as a request to capture/kill just the same. Which means Nrvnqsr could still be fulfilling both directives to eliminate Arcueid in the remake continuity.

Of course, I do agree that if we are to explore the Pantheon that Roa keeps hinting at, Nrvnqsr being too greedy with Arcueid is nonviable. It is almost impossible to think Nasu is not expounding on all this cryptic teasing. So the only way I see Nrvnqsr not consuming Arcueid utterly is if SHIKI-Roa is already conspiring with him by Day 2. Come to think of it, perhaps that's another route divergence which could explain how Nrvnqsr comes out the victor.

Or hell, maybe Roa does not even need to do the "swallowing whole" himself this time around and can actualize his ambitions through Nrvnqsr, which may be why he felt so comfortable co-creating The Soil of Genesis with him from the start? No matter the case, we're definitely seeing Roa reach 'eternity' and activate his Pantheon with or without Nrvnqsr.

Ignoring Ciel's OG "Good" ending, I have to disagree. Throughout the remake, Shiki repeatedly keeps going on about how much more attracted to + in love with Arcueid than he is with Ciel, and ultimately acknowledges in the "True" ending that his real happiness is being with Arcueid. But because he feels indebted to Ciel and wants to see her happy, he puts her happiness before his own. It feels like since Nasu gutted the actual NTR ending, he doubled down on embarrassing Ciel and making it clear that while Ciel "won", she will never be THE "one."

Even as an Arcfag, I felt bad Nasu did her so dirty. Even the original cuck ending felt less malicious because at least it was honest about what it was.

Seriously though, I always felt that the "true" Tsukihime starts in Far Side, which is funny given the game's title. It felt far more organic and grounded, and the oni family troubles and demon hunters are just far more interesting and original in my opinion, as much as I like Apostles. I know this might sound silly but they feel like "what should have happened" scenarios without the intruders/strangers being involved (the latter is basically true).
That being said, the remake has definitely improved Near Side by a lot, so the gap between them will be reduced in the remake, even if I'll always prefer Far Side/Red Garden, and even if they add DA shenanigans to pre-Sacchin routes (cough cough Arach).

Also another point is that if you play Tsukihime for the first time like it was Kanon or ONE, Ciel's route is almost certainly what you'll stumble into, and you'll of course keep getting killed if you try to break your way back into Arc's route like it was those games. It's for that reason I sometimes forget Satsuki is Near Side because the first time I started the game over, what got me to like her so much and want to play her half of the game was deliverately avoiding Ciel as much as possible.

I see that sentiment shared a lot, but as an Arcfag it's impossible for me to feel that way. The Tsukihime missing in the Tsukihime story always feels like an open wound that needs to be stitched up by the rest of the cast. Nevertheless, I still very much enjoy the more grounded nature of the Far Side route. Though a major component of that may deal with how more psychological it felt when handling Shiki's psyche overall -- which lent itself well to a more "horror" inspired atmosphere. There is a sense of mystery present that does not exist in the Near Side routes. Totally agree about Nasu stepping up his game for the Near Side routes on remake, however -- namely Ciel's since Arcueid's is mostly untouched. To be frank, I tend to think about Ciel's route almost exclusively when I think of A Piece of Blue Glass Moon.
