reading the VNs slowly after watching the anime years ago and utterly adoring Umineko's VN. Kishiko Miyagi needs to pay for their crimes. What a fucking garbage writer, Tsukiotoshi's concept deserved so much better than this cunt

Gonna quickly note that while I haven't read the VN version of it yet, I'm confident that Tsumihoroboshi is going to top Peak Fiction and be the best arc in Higurashi, so I'll include it in my response.I think the "Peak Fiction" arcs are all quite different in how excellent they are, but if there is a common thread between them, I think they're the three arcs for Higurashi that feel the most focused. Meakashi especially has genuinely incredible pacing which is kind of insane given R07's track record, but all three of these arcs have a thematic focus to them that feels far more tightly written and intentional than the other arcs. They don't just have great "moments", from start to finish they are consistently engaging and valuable.Also, Tsukiotoshi has a good concept but holy shit, the writer for those two arcs is garrrrrbage. You can tell they hadn't finished reading the series when they wrote them because they fundamentally misunderstand the cast so egregiously, and so frequently, that it feels like a parody of the anime specifically. Like it's trying to become a staple of hatewatch parties for being gratuitous horror slop rather than any of the restraint of R07's works. I'm so glad the worst two console arcs are behind me.
