>>50873360Is anyone else going to Miku Expo Detroit?
bad news lads im afraid NT is way easier to work with than V6>>50872184My first encounter with vocaloid was a japanese video of tuning Miku and for some reason I completely ignored the voice sounding robotic just saw she has midi + lyrics on a piano roll and concluded she's probably a mascot for some sort of karaoke software (like those games that read your pitch and give you points if you get it right) cause I was just too confused by the concept of vocal synthesis that doesn't sound like dogshit to consider it an option
>>50873707Was NT really that bad or is just a case of people being too used to work with VOCALOID/SynthV?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kI4n3VWEoUI've been checking yt for new Miku V6 stuff since release and this is by far the best usage I've heard so far.
this is an IA thread now
It is so crazy to sort of realize that it's been ten years since the 2016 expo. The energy was crazy back then. Does anyone else remember the after show orgy stories? I didn't even realize Miku Expo was going on again. Last time I checked after attending 2016 and 2018 was around 2020 and after that show was cancelled due to the pandemic and the digital show that happened in the years after I sort of thought it was dead. Also tickets seem to be extremely expensive compared to back then. Maybe I'm just old now, it was all so much fun...
>>50874096it can be very expressive but sounds different to other vbs, i think NT2 at the very least is a good voicebankhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0A5XNs0OWhEi think most people hating don't even make covers, they just didn't like the sound + associate it with proseka which has bad tuning

>>50874320It's crazy how this thread was more active back even though Vocaloid was arguably at a lull in popularity.
>>50874776Hmm... Yeah, I can definitely see that sadly enough. Honestly I think a lot of us aged out of it somewhat by now, or more or less just observe silently from the outside. Plus, I think some of it too was that 2014, 2016 and 2018 weren't as saturated with people who weren't as into the Vocaloid scene. I have a feeling that attending back then, you had to have an elevated interest level in it. I could be wrong but I could imagine it now being the strongest holdouts from the early days becoming jaded at the new wave of fans and the people who are attending out of a novel curiosity, or surface level interest. This isn't to say either that only certain people can go, no casuals, etc but I just think it is a natural effect of things like this over time. Those early days and those expo threads back then were insane though, very fun times.
>>50874776Vtubers, tourists and their consequences have been a disaster to the /jp/ board.
>>50874320I couldn't make it to the 2014 shows, but I started going to these in 2016. I was simply awestruck seeing her live that first time. It was a different vibe back then but I liked it. I remember people here bitching about the Anamanaguchi song back then, whereas people seem to love it now. I'm going to the DC show next month, but admittedly it doesn't feel as magical since they replaced the screen projection with a monitor. Between that and the rising prices, and that I'm getting older, this might be the last Expo I attend. >>50874846That was probably the best poster of the NA 2016 tour. I went to the NY show and that one was just hideous looking. I ended up buying one of the Mexican tour posters instead.
>>50874776I miss it dearly but we have to move on>>50874283Yes!
>>50875317>bitching about the Anamanaguchi songYeah I don't understand the hate either I thought it was catchy
>>50875317Yeah it really was pretty magical. In my opinion the events back then were really three distinct events all a part of the same Expo. The line was its own thing I'd argue. The event itself and then wherever else everyone would be congregating afterwards and have crazy stories like this to take home. I'm glad you're getting to go. I was surprised to see the cost of tickets for this year as well. Everyone don't forget, the confetti at the end is the rarest merch, be sure to grab some.
I kinda wish I could bring my Volks miku along to the show (which is less than two weeks away!!) but I won't have anywhere nearby to store her during the show, and I am sure her carrying case is well past the acceptable bag size for the venue. Not that I'd want to be carrying her in the crowd. Vinyl dolls aren't too delicate, but there is no reason to risk anything.>>50874846>I think a lot of us aged out of itThat's the sad truth of a lot of this, I think. Personally, I still love vocaloid as much now as I did 5 and 10 years ago, but there is a bit of "I'm one of the older guys now." I'm just shy of 30, so I am hardly one of oldest guys there, but there is a bit of a weird feeling being surrounded by people a decade younger than you. I am glad to see the scene as popular as it is now, but I still wish that it was filled with people more similar to me, you know? I will say, at least, that the other people who are in the VIP line are going to be a lot closer to the fans that I get along with, so that is a good filter. An expensive one for sure, but it does do a good job.>>508753172018 was my first, and I have fond memories of massively underestimating the line to get in, as well as my friend and I trying to find a place that sold glowsticks since we didn't have penlights. During the show, we each had our pockets filled with lit glowsticks, and we'd have to dig through them to find the right colour when someone new came on. Thinking back, it was very cute.I'm mixed about the screen, though. The projection was pretty unique, so it is a shame to see it go, but the screen kinda works fine. When you're close enough, you don't really notice the edges, and it wasn't something I thought about too much during last expo. I've been thinking that this will be my last one too for similar reasons as you, but I also thought that last year, and here I am again.
