Previous thread: >>50903764This thread is for the discussion of Japanese visual novels read untranslated in Japanese. What are you playing? What are you looking forward to? What have you finished?
Finally finished Anemoi.Girls>Sophie > Sakura > Suisen > KatanRoutes>Sakura > Sophie > Katan > SuisenExcellent game overall, definitely the best game I've played from Crystalia. My biggest problem was that the true route is extremely rushed. It's still good, but it felt like a speedrun, or reading a manga that's been cancelled and the author's been told he has until the end of the volume so he's throwing in everything he's got before the ending. The true route has fantastic moments, but I just with they had time to breathe.
>>50954728>Finally finished Anemoi.>the best game I've played from CrystaliaGood meme.
>>50954745Aw shit, that's what I get for picking up anemoi five minutes after finishing totsuraba. How embarrassing.

Apparently e-celeb JOPs don't read this kamige for some reason (checked the vndb of quof, hadler, and moogy lol).

>>50954979>White Album 1 is good and you're a fag that can't truly appreciate games for themselves, and only plays them to shitpost about them online.projection. white album 1 is DOGSHIT if you do 21 playthrough to get all conversation. especially the demake. i think playing only yuki's route on the og would be actually a solid 6/10, but that's it>Dead giveaway:??? i'm reading them to prepare myself for clannad and mla. holy projections....
>>50954991I actually thought all the routes had at least something to them. Only played the OG, of course.
>>50955002"having something" is one thing, "being worth getting the platinum trophy" is another, especially in 2026. this ge is more miserable to 100% than remember11>Only played the OG, of course.based, that was my main mistake. without meme achievements and the dogshit sayoko route i'd have already finished it. and with h-kino payoff maybe i wouldn't have been so harsh on nothingburger character routes
>>50955018Just drop a game when you dislike it.
>>50955022i'm maximizing my wa2 enjoyment potential, why would i drop it?
>>50955026Cause, having played both, WA2 with all side material, it doesn't matter at all for WA2.
>>50955033well good for you, having played both and having made your own opinion about the series and whether wa1 improved the wa2 experience or notnow it's my turn
>>50955037Okay, get back to me afterwards. Or maybe tell your buddies on Reddit.
>>50955043i don't use reddit but i will keep you posted, sure
>>50955026You're forcing yourself through 100%ing the game to the point of describing it as "miserable".Making yourself bitter toward WA1 is hardly going to contribute positively toward WA2, not when you're going to end up with such negative associations.
Any anon can clear some shit up from the true route in Sakura Moyu for me?So did hero Taiga relive normal Taiga's life 1:1 and did he do all routes like normal Taiga did, or just Haru's route to get the magic to send yourself back? But if so that makes no sense, he only needs that magic to get back to when Asahi gathered children to defeat the King of Night. But if he re-lived normal Taiga's life 1:1, he would have automatically met Asahi as a kid anyway. So he could have told her that the King of Night is normal Taiga the, instead. Also I wonder: all the routes you do, do you do them as hero taiga or normal Taiga? Since everyone talks about the King of Night it must be hero Taiga, since it should have been the Queen of Night. But hero Taiga fails Haru's route, so it can't be.
>>50955026That is retarded.
>>50955193It's been too long since I played it, mostly the emotions and major scenes remain in me. But you can check out 考察 blogs likehttps://vitaaeternitatis.blogspot.com/2019/04/28.html>But hero Taiga fails Haru's route, so it can't be.This was a fucking kino moment, for example. When he shoots himself by mistake. Like oh shit, it was imbued with so much meaning in the story.
>>50955167>Making yourself bitter toward WA1 is hardly going to contribute positively toward WA2, not when you're going to end up with such negative associations.maybe it will make reading wa1 worth it retroactively? we'll see>>50955196you are low iq
>>50955037you are supposed to play all of maruto games in the release order if you really want to appreciate wa2 insteadchocolat parfait konnyaku are literally must
>>50955301why?i know you technically need to consume all leaf/aquaslop because wa2 has references to everything, but that was way too big of a time investmentwa1 and wa2 are the same series, it makes sense reading both
>>50955311wa1 is written by different writer so it's irrelevantyou can see how maruto prose and themes progress through all of the games and you will be able to catch way more things in wa2 after having the experience with it rather than going into it blindand all the games are kamiges too anyway so they are worth reading regardless
>>50955321>wa1 is written by different writer so it's irrelevantit's relevant because it's the same series and the same company>you can see how maruto prose and themes progress through all of the games and you will be able to catch way more things in wa2 after having the experience with it rather than going into it blindi'll eop it anyway, i don't care about the meme prose>and all the games are kamiges too anyway so they are worth reading regardlessaccording to vndb he only writes sloppa, wa2 is the only decent thing he ever made and i have my suspects that it's good NOT because of him but something else
>>50955325Jesus dude and here I was thinking you might not be totally subhuman. Then you post this.
>>50955325parfait and konnyaku are literally one of the most popular and known games there are in japan and they obviously aren't going to be popular on vndb because translations kill the writing as usual
>>50955329i'm only reporting facts. i'm sure that according to you they are all kamige, it's ok, but the reality isn't like thatbut now that you make me think about it, i might actually skip all the sloppa maeda wrote before key, otherwise it wouldn't be fair to maruto>>50955332>popular >knowni don't care about thatbut if i'll like wa2 then i'll jop the whole maruto's catalogue that' for sure (and the jop wa2), but for now it's too risky, it's like 250 hours of sloppa i don't care about
guess i might read ripple on a whim, but that's it
>>50955339>i don't care about thatyou literally care about vndb votes
>>50955348>rating != number of votesi don't know what so many people pretend not understanding this simple concept. popular stuff can be good, obscure stuff can be good. popular stuff can be shit, obscure stuff can be shit. it's not hard...
>>50955352And sometimes someone sounds absolutely insufferable just from few posts, like you now.
>>50955352then you should probably check egs at least to see that it can be bothwith parfait reorder having 90 average and konnyaku having 85 with 4318 votes

>>50955354i know, truth hurts, but i think it's better to live cope-free in the long run>>50955357yeah i know. i don't mind jopping those, it's duel savior and all the gigasloppa that worries me
>>50955440I just don't like your appearent approach, dude.WA2 is a mega special game (if it hits for you, of course). You should give yourself at least two or three months to fully dive into it. Not worry about what other games you le JOP and le EOP. It really does make you sound like all you want is to eventually post a review for your buddies on Reddit. And btw if you want to ready yourself for WA2, other Maruto games are the more logical option.Anyway, I dunno if you want to read as much as you can, but that's misguided. Look for things that will be special for you and focus on those. At least that's what I reached as my conclusion after years of hoarding.
Man i've been watching saihate jikkyou and watching how they force themselves to read through all the wikipedia links trying to understand at least something and still failing badly is so damn funny i haven't laughed so hard in yearsRomeo is truly genius
>>50955466My point is: i don't know if i'll like wa2. If it will life change me then yeah, I should've read everything before. But if I'll hate it? Even wa2 itself will be a waste of time. I gotta take a middle ground here... Same it true with everything of course

Any news on Unravel Trigger sequel? It's supposed to be out in 2026 and I'm waiting for the release date announcement so that I can finally read the first game.
>>50956120If it's a fantasy or sci-fi setting I'm willing to suspension-of-disbelief that they have some magic or future cure for genetic defects, whether one is directly mentioned as existing or not.If it's a silly comedy, I also don't care.If it's historical, I'm fine, because it's probably period-accurate.Otherwise, I'd prefer if the characters adopted. You're the writer, you decide everything that happens in the story. You can create a situation where the two characters end up adopting and it makes sense for them.

I just finished Kisekko Gurumii, which is an obscure GameBoy Advance dress-up game for little girls.I believe I downloaded a copy a few years back on a whim after seeing a screenshot and thinking the lolis were cute. The actual contents and quality of the game shocked me somewhat, which I'll get into in a moment.First I want to point out what I only just learned now, which is that this game is a direct sequel to an even more obscure GBA dress-up game called Daisuki Teddy, which appears to be similarly well-made, so if you end up wanting to try Kisekko, I suggest you play Daisuki Teddy first. I expect both games are similarly short, which for Kisekko Gurumii would be in the range of 4-8 hours for the main story, depending on how much time you spend talking to the side characters and how long you get stuck on the puzzles. The only real gameplay comes in the form of having to combine items to make other items. It's kinda like the Flash game Doodle God, if you've ever played that. Sometimes you're given full instructions, other times you have to experiment and explore. At times I had to do a little deductive reasoning using information in the recipe book to narrow down the possibilities. The answers usually felt fair, but getting there was often unintuitive. (The controls for picking up items are surprisingly awful, which caused me a lot of problems.) It was a little frustrating to get stuck at all, given the game is ostensibly for elementary school girls. But it also represents the game's only challenge, so it never became too upsetting for me.The best thing about the title are the character designs, which are by Fujii Makiko, the character designer for Panel de Pon. They're all very cute in a "fairy tale" way.If you want to go in completely blind and get surprised like I did, I think it's well worth the short time investment. As you'd expect, the Japanese is quite simple overall, so there's no worries on that front if you're a learner. So, the "surprise": If you look at the box, you might notice something missing. Namely, a CERO rating. MTO elected to not submit this game to CERO, and with reason.Although this game presents itself as and ostensibly is a dress-up game for little girls, it was actually made by ginormous lolicons, and the game makes almost no effort to hide this. I don't want to spoil every little thing that happens, but a solid percentage of the game's story revolves around lolis either stripping or flirting with adult men. The story is also surprisingly serious at moments, with death being a recurring theme. That being said, I do think the game's selling points lie in its shock value and uniqueness moreso than the storytelling. It isn't bad per se, in fact I rather liked it. The whole game has this warm, fuzzy, happy, friendly tone (which also served to make the dark and lewd elements stand out even stronger). I really like how it created a sensation of living in this happy little town, and how much I got to know every tiny character by the end. However, a lot of the central plot elements were things that were offscreen, timeskipped past, or resolved in a way which I felt was handwavy. To a certain extent though, I suppose this is my fault for accidentally playing the sequel first. It's also ultimately an otherwise fairly simple and generic mahou shoujo story outside of the few surprising elements, and the writing didn't blow my socks off eitherー it was consistently fine, but not superb. If you're a person who only tries to play 10/10 kamige I think it's a safe skip. If you're looking for something fresh and one-of-a-kind, or just a fun little palate cleanser between larger VN projects, I can heartily recommend it. I enjoyed it from start to finish, and I'm interested in going back and playing the first game someday and then replaying Kisekko to see what I missed.
