Merry Christmas you beautiful anons!

If you haven't received your package, please submit an email to me and we will start tallying the late arrivals, and then sorting between folks who are likely to get theirs in the next few days vs those who the dreaded USPS has lost forever. We will be dispatching the Grinch Relief Corps (GRC) as needed to remedy. Send grinch relief applications to wendigohunter at protonmail dot com

When the Geran/Shahed drones first appeared, I figured Russia would use them smartly in a classic SEAD/DEAD role: send waves of them to force Ukrainian IADS to light up radars and reveal positions, then follow up with VKS aircraft, with anti-radiation missiles to systematically dismantle those defenses.

Russia instead has chosen the most brain-dead and wasteful approach, by treating the Geran/Shaheds s as nothing more than slow, low-cost cruise missiles hurled directly at static infrastructure targets, while leaving the overwhelming majority of Ukraine's air defenses intact and free to keep operating.

They're banking entirely on brute-force volume and saturation to get a few through, completely abandoning any effort at SEAD/DEAD. But the thing is that they're not even achieving any kind of saturation effect since, the launches are scattered haphazardly across random cities, regions, and targets all over Ukraine that changes every night (some they they go after energy infrastructure, some other go after some depots, some others they try to hit some cities...), instead of making up their minds and concentrate them single high-value area, frontline sector, or even one major city at a time, and keep hitting them until achieving disruption or collapse. This is also precisely why so few targets are actually hit despite hundreds being launched every night, and so many of them are intercepted.

By contrast, even in the recent U.S. operation in Venezuela, the LUCAS drones (the American Shahed clones) were properly integrated into a coordinated SEAD/DEAD package.

Russia is trying to not escalate, they don't want things like Transnistria being invaded or Poland starting an ATACMS factory or Moscow truck bombs. But things will probably escalate anyway since they are chipping territory. The useful part of such long stalemated efforts is your intelligence feedback about what strikes work, how much, what doesn't. i.e. to disable power should you strike transformers, or distribution towers, or poled water crossings or power stations or fuel or employees/admin? Does it work as well as disabling water? Big questions, kind of interesting. Anyone can learn this information at the same time. Don't know attack cost back end but useful.

I wonder if there's actually a way to permanently end the repaer threat without some stupid mcguffin like the crucible, the organics could not have beaten them conventionally
>>
>>64754817
Have you ever heard of kinetic weapons? If you speed up a small enough particle to high enough speeds, the impact (say, into the ground) will be indistinguishable from direct artillery fire (e.g. conventional explosives).
>>
>>64754899
I guess you could use something like a civilization that developed all its weapons and ftl stuff without using element zero as a basis before being introduced to Citadel space late in the cycle so they are using exotic stuff that can actually seriously damage them, but that would still be really convenient and one hell of a stretch. The Reapers must have encountered and overcome pretty much everything you could think of since they were created.

Best thing I can think of is baiting them near a mass relay and destroying it to kill them with the explosion. But I doubt they would be stupid enough to ALL come (if you can bait them in the first place) so you would need to repeat the feat and each "victory" erases an entire system.
>>
>>64754899
Idk if it wouldve been perfect but a conventional victory has some room for exploration. Yeah the reapers are set up to be overwhelmingly superior but there's one in favor for organics.
It's the first time that the Reapers were not able to catastrophically decapitate the top-down organization of organic civilization and leave them unable to organize major resistance.
We could've seen a Fabian strategy where organic fleets mass at one system at a time to pick off overextended Reaper forces. After a while, losses start accumulating (even if its overall minor) and because they can only make one Reaper per cycle, they start to ironically become fearful and make mistakes. At least that's my take.

Ah right, I vaguely remember that series, was kinda neat. IIRC the setting was before they figured out the alien thermonuclear engines that all the planes in the main series onwards used, but they still had overtechnology armor and shit that made them much tougher then anything IRL.
>>
>>64754240
This launch wouldn't be possible underwater with aircrafts we will have anytime soon. But there have been subs that will launch planes after surfacing on a long deck. You need a much shorter runway to take off than to land. "coming back" isn't a problem. The idea for something like this would be launch from sub within radar distance from the shore, then return to an aircraft carrier.

>but what is the ideal jungle support vehicle then
Helicopters

But I know you're asking about ground vehicles, and the answer is that this is one of two environments where legged vehicles are theoretically superior to wheeled or tracked options (the other environment being especially steep mountainous terrain, which also includes rock walls ie for amphibious landings). These vehicles would most likely not be bipedal - four or more legs simply makes the most sense for stability, mobility, and flexibility. In especially dense jungle you could theoretically have a vehicle with many prehensile limbs, like an octopus or perhaps an octopus with 20 thin tentacles spread across all aspects of its body, allowing it to move vertically and horizontally through tree canopies, both allowing for ambush tactics and avoiding ground impediments. But that's way beyond current technology, and probably too niche to ever happen even in the distant future.

>inb4 tards come out of the woodwork to say tracked vehicles are all you need for any rough terrain
No, they fucking are not. Dense jungle is completely impassable for all modern ground vehicles. Deep Amazon settlements are often accessible only by river or air. Let's take a bulldozer as an example, as it will be better at traversing jungle than any tracked military vehicle. Would that bulldozer be able to get through pic related? Yeah, it would, albeit slowly if you're not using defoliants. But how about multiplying that picture times 100? How long would it take the dozer to push through? That would be about half a mile, and if the terrain isn't flat, it will be even worse. And if you do try to push through, maintenance will be harsh, especially in hot humid jungle. You'd be advancing at a russian's pace, which is several times slower than a snail's pace.

The only feasible option for armored vehicles in such an environment, is something with legs.

It's like the Waffen-SS heroes were being fed on the ring with some actual, black, Heavyweight professional boxer. He could have moved them by the hundreds. But not so much other professionals.
German "aces" were MUCH more cautious about facing western pilots with proper - months long - training. Hartmann outright refused to fly the jets (he would have to fight in the West) as he insisted that he was "more useful" on the Easter front rofl.

https://www.cryeprecision.com/Jumpable-Plate-Carrier?quantity=1&color=Coyote&page=1
was thinking of getting this plate carrier with this chest rig https://haleystrategic.com/x-chest-rig
only problem is i don't see anywhere to clip the chest rig onto the PC, would my best bet be just strapping stuff onto the PC with velcro or finding a new PC?
>>
>>64754862
dunno anything about JPC (except that it's popular) and can only talk about stuff I've used as I'm not the most experienced gearqueer. I don't see any reason why you couldn't attach that rig to the JPC if you get some extra quick-clips or g-hooks or whatever. I'd assume crye has a different cumberbund option that has velcro on the front, or you could get a chest rig that has molle on the back?

I have a haley micro chest rig. stitching and quality is good (expensive gucci nylon so it better be). It's comfy, and attaches in lieu of a placard onto my DM MEPC if I want it to.
but I don't like using it on the plate carrier. It only has one pocket on the front of the mag storage area and some extra pistol mag slots and even still it sits so far out with that it's like you're pregnant. If i go prone anything in the pocket gets smooshed anyway.
I much prefer a placard that's just for holding mags, and all the things that would've gone in the pocket go on my belt or somewhere else.
Also, the inserts that go into the chest rig for holding mags are way less secure in my experience than my dedicated placards.

The haley rig you linked is the bigger version of mine, and looking through the pics I assume it uses the same velcro pocket that takes inserts as other rigs.
I ran with my chest rig as a placard on my mepc for a while but eventually caved and bought DM's dedicated mag placards (any brand would do tho) and I'm much happier with those. I lost the fanny pack/pockets from the chest rig but the mag placards feel much more secure and they're like half the profile or less of fanny pack hanging off the plate carrier.
But also I only larp with this shit so if you actually use it for work or somethign maybe you'd like having the extra storage on your chest?

The big advantage to using something like that haley chest rig as a placard is if you keep the X/H straps then you can use it without the PC too if you want.
