>the chinese copy everything they get their hands on
>the mi-24 is one of the few eastern aircraft that actually terrified the west and forced them to change their tactics
>there is no chink equivalent to the Hind
why?

Proof?

Didn't it turn out to not be that great in practice?
>>
>>61468590
It looks cool though.
>>
>>61468517
Chinks only copy designs that works or they can buy.
>CFM56 core (F110/F101) instead of Lyulka/Saturn AL-31

It’s been used pretty well as a missile truck in Ukraine and some russiods claim they’ve taken a few hits and flown home. It’s a good airframe but Russians are white and thus retarded so yonow
>>
>>61468517
>the mi-24 is one of the few eastern aircraft that actually terrified the west and forced them to change their tactics
Yeah, in the early 70s. 3 years later we had the Apache that shits all over the Hind.
>>
>>61468603
>It’s been used pretty well as a missile truck in Ukraine
No, SOCLOS ATGMs are going to get you killed in Ukraine so they have mainly been used to throw S-5 rockets within 9 grids of the target.
The most useful role they have found is leaving the pylons empty and using them as utility choppers.
>>
>>61468517
>the mi-24 is one of the few eastern aircraft that actually terrified the west and forced them to change their tactics
So did the MiG-25, and you don't see the Chinese using any clones of them
>>
>>61468590
It didn't 'terrify' anyone to begin with, but the Hind was perfectly serviceable when in a dedicated attack role. Initial cannon was not very useful. Its hybrid transport role was just found to be not very feasible.
>>
>>61468631
This is much more interesting that the shitty OP, what soviet systems made the US panic because they didn't have anything like it only for them to make something much better.
>Hind - Apache

>MiG-25 - F-15

It's just so FACKING yuge.
Which would be based,
Except it doesn't doooooo anything with all that size.
So excuse me, princess.

hind is a hybrid - transport and attack heli - in effect is as big as a transport with very limited cargo space and agility.
its niche is deploying small teams in heavily contested territory - whitch is suicide considering today's mapads proliferation

it's a good helicopter but the "transport gunship" concept turned out to be a dead end.

It’s kind of bizarre. Why does China only copy? They have the education system and industry. Is it just they can’t make something new or just don’t WANT to? Is it a severe risk-aversion thing? Just being "smart", ie, why invest when you can just copy? Or is it that their economy is heavily focused on abusing peasant labor so no one wants to pay and retain talented engineers who simply emigrate to where they’re valued? Or, likewise, is that they CAN’T compete with Western companies’ pay, lifestyle and quality of life so anyone who’s talented disappears the moment they’re able to? So all that’s left for Chinese companies are the dregs who can’t make it abroad?

>awkward drunk dancing (probably to techno hardbass) in a basement
anon, you've confirmed that they're white.
>>
>>61468723
It was a solid idea poorly executed.
In Afghanistan a lot of UH-60 and CH-47 flights were canned because there weren't enough Apache's to support them, the idea of the Hind is transports proving mutual support and covering eachothers landings.
Great in concept but you need a shitload of lift / power so you can carry enough cargo to be useful while still being armed.
>>
>>61468779
They’re more behind than a lot of people think. That and Mao kind of murdered everyone who was capable of outside the box thinking, and the ideology itself is kind of nervous about it in general. There’s art and initiative in inventiveness. They also have a brain drain issue as well. So TLDR everyone with creativity was genocided, terrified, or ran
>>
>>61468779
There are lots of theories.
One I've heard is that Chinese are culturally conditioned to always show careful deference to their social hierarchy, so novel ideas can only come from above. For a Chinese engineer to advocate for his own original designs, shows immense disrespect for his institution, his superiors, and the process.

That's just what I've heard. I personally have had no contact with any part of Chinese industry of culture.
>>

>>61468815
I think the biggest factor is the guys given the job of making a new utility chopper will be killed if they fuck it up.
In the west they'll get big bonuses just for securing the contract and if it works or not doesn't really matter so long as stock prices increase.
When a fuckup means dying people aren't going to be trying anything that hasn't been done before.
>>
>>61468775
why would you make me aware of this
>>
>>61468689
There is no god. Russians are light skinned because they live far from the equator. It's called natural selection.
>>
>>61468775
The transport bit ended up being useful after all because instead of troops you can load up the back full of additional rockets and run back to a safe position to reload instead of having to return to base.

>>61468785
>Great in concept but you need a shitload of lift / power so you can carry enough cargo to be useful while still being armed.
They're pretty much the most powerful helicopter that isn't a proper heavy lifter like the Chinook or Super Stallion. The load problems they had weren't becuase it was underpowered, they were because 99% of its combat use was in mountainous Afghanistan. All helicopters have greatly reduced capability at 10,000 feet.
>>
They copied the A129, instead.

>>
>>61468643
>Its hybrid transport role was just found to be not very feasible.
Why not?
>>
>>61468517
They apparently did get their hands on one via Pakistan, which somehow made its way there from Afghanistan, but the Chinese preferred to copy French (and American) designs.

>>61468813
>They’re more behind than a lot of people think.
I had a chance to tour one of their hospital ships and was struck by how much of the medical equipment was made by European companies, and how insistent they were to show off the few pieces of equipment made in China.
>>
>>61469007
it's easier and sasfer to pre-emptively bomb an area and send a transport chopper with the goon squad onboard than to risk flying them into enemy territory in a gunship

>>
>>61468643
>Its hybrid transport role was just found to be not very feasible.

Retarded take. It sucked complete ass but it was the only feasible way to go about it when Russia was having its fun in Afghanistan. Soviets had to airlift literally everything, which was new for them.

Now, better platforms for that exist.
>>
>>61469007
Two Hinds
>2x8 passenger capacity
>one helicopter lands at a time while the other covers
>landing a full squad takes twice as long, with only 1 gunship being in the air during the process

One Hind + 1 MI-8
>1x24 passenger capacity
>all passengers disembark at once
>still 1 gunship in the air during the process

it's just a typical jack-of-all-trades problem

Anon, the hind has to do a rolling takeoff to get anything close to its mtow off the ground.

Not at sea level
>>
>>61468785
It's a dogshit idea that was poorly executed. The soviets saw US use of UH-1 in Vietnam and copied that, with some shitty patches slapped onto it.

If you used hinds in afghanistan you'd have flights canned because there's not enough hinds to deliver anything anywhere since they offer so little to work with and are just as vulnerable to anything larger than an AK as a transport heli.

A big, unwieldy useless slob with no payload capacity that is only fanboyed by retards looking at your typical doctored photos russians propagandize everywhere should die and be forgotten in its misery.
>>
>>61469173
Yes at sea level, shut the fuck up you worthless coping nigger.
>>
>>61468842
People responsible could die there if the fuckup is akin to building/bridge collapse (due to embezzlement), if the chopper doesn't crash, everyone should be fine. They don't want to kill off more of their brighter minds, they've ruined a whole generation or two of these already.
>>
its a flying bradley if you think about it
i bet with some upgrades it could suddenly work
>>
>>61470616
The gun doesn't work right, the protection is subpar and the engine is underpowered. Not a Bradley, more of a flying Warrior.

>They have the education system and industry.
Plagiarism, cheating, and bribery are so rampant in Chinese academia that it's kind of amazing they manage to produce competent scientists and engineers in any number. Their industry isn't much different, with corruption, theft, and criminal negligence at every level. Chinese society is a giant game of hot potato where everyone is trying to pass the blame before the swindle is exposed.

You see this is kinda how the USA vs USSR arms race kinda went on.

Russia makes something and claims it's absolutely going to revolutionize warfare. They would throw random numbers at their claimed capabilities.

US intelligence along with MIC would know those claims were most likely all bs but would still take the brochures to the Senate and tell of how undergunned we will be in the near future. Bill will pass with basically unlimited funds for the MIC to build new super advanced tech to counter the soviets. MIC actually would pull it off and come up with some groundbreaking OP tech to counter imaginary Soviet designs.

Repeat for about 50 years and now the US has an arsenal still decades ahead of whatever the Russians can produce. Somehow the trick still works but it's being switched to claimed China makes. China at least seems to have a really effective spy apparatus aimed at stealing technology from the west.

Back to your point the hind on paper was a monster for its time but as new tech came around it became basically just an up armored troop transport that can do strafing runs.
>>
>>61468517
Sino-Soviet split.

The Mi-24 was kind of a scared half step into the combat helicopter niche by the soviets anyhow. Half assed transport chopper and ok combat one. Literally reused the targeting gyro optic off of the land based unit, with all the caveats and limits a ground based system has.

They immediately went into development of the Havoc, and the west had been toying with the cobra/huey hog/gazelle HOT itself.
>>
>>61471927
I've always wanted to create fake evidence of 'secret ' enemy nation projects just to trick the government into making stuff that i think would be cool.

Like fake info that the DPRK was making a S-tank based tank destroyer armed with a Koksan just to see General Dynamics attempt to get funding for a Baneblade.

>>
Lack of technology, this is why the chinks tried to steal ukraine engine manufacturing company motor such

Hinds are great operating in cold temperatures and low oxygen grids, like the Himalayas or in rough climates like the Korean sea.

Which is why the chinks can not be allowed to get this tech as they will upset the balance of power in the India and Taiwanese fault zones

China has operated soviet/russian helicopters with the same rotor-transmission-gas turbines for decades, they simply chose to copy and license European and American designs.
> are great operating in cold temperatures and low oxygen grids,
Like any gas turbine
